The creature jumps into a book, disappearing from view.
Then you hear some commotion down the hallway. It sounds like it came from the library.
Thevenin Serkat |
"Yes, feels unsettling. Let's stick together and go to the library."
Ekaterina Elvana |
Ekaterina lets out a fake astonished gasp to play along with the creature before hiking up her skirt and joining the others heading to the library.
Elfino |
Elfino sighs. "Looks like it's going to be a cat and mouse game." Before he goes, Elfino picks up the book the creature jumped into and riffles through it.
Was it the abandoned standard book of translation (Mahwek) that had fallen beneath one of the couches, or some other book we hadn't noticed before.

Shrugging, he tosses the book into his backpack and follows the others to the library.

The creature has clearly been the one causing all of the problems in the school. As the creature hops out of one book, you are able to catch it briefly before it hops in another, with the secret pages acting as portals to each other. During one such hop, the Scholar of Secrets' bracelet of bells chimes and falls to the ground. The bells are artfully crafted, though the chaotic energy of the Maelstrom means that the sound they emit is always the wrong tone and volume than expected.
Elfino realizes that the bracelet you found in the bathroom could also be used to banish the creature back to his own plane. Eaterina distracts the creature as Thevernin uses the planar focus bracelet to open a rift. With the Carnellan Signet and Termia working together to push the creature into the rift, it screams "No! My work here is not done!"
The rift closes, and the school goes quiet.
With your work done, you are able to rest and even get a good night's sleep. The next day, you are summoned to the Grand Lodge to report
on the mysteries and their conclusions. J Dacilane meets with you in a well-appointed tearoom and listens carefully to the full account. J mutters, “What strange luck. At least the pupils are safe now. Thank you for ensuring Dacilane Academy’s safety!"
You solved every mystery, netting you 4 reputation points with your faction as well as a full compliment of treasure bundles (10!). The book Elfino asked about was in fact the abandoned book of translation (Mahwek). J gives you a copy (on chronicle).
The Carnelian Signet |
"Work is never done. That's why I make sure it's fun, dear." The Carnelian Signet uses her whip to get the thing off balance while Termia finishes her duty- at least for now.
"Well, that was fun. I'll let my benefactor deal with the paperwork. Toddles, kids." The Signet blows some smoke into the air before vanishing into the night.
Issil Telfae |
"...And then she tripped the thing." Issil waves her hand like a tankard of ale. "Oh, how stupendous!" She turns in the slightly singed report to J Dacilane.
"By the by, how much for the Hang in there, Kitty! poster? My agent was... entranced by it."
Also, I got too drunk to return it last night. If Termia learns I'm a thief she'll gut me like a fish.
Thanks for the game, everyone!
