Just before as Adalphorius opens the door, it falls door from a flood of rats now entering the room.

Jenise shrieks at the veritable flood of rats coming in, but the reflexes born of life in Darkmoon Vale have her already shifting her crossbow to her left hand. The sorceress chants a spell, gesturing with her free hand. At the end of her incantation she thrusts her hand out, palm first, and a cone of vivid rainbow-colored light flashes toward the rats.

Casting color spray. Are we using combat maps for this game? If anyone was in the spell's path, she would have moved first so as not to hit them.

Jenise waves a hand, summoning a rain of tiny falling stars above the rats. Flames erupt wherever the meteorites hit.

Ew, burned rat smells disgusting. But Jenise's minute meteors are the most effective way to deal with a swarm of small enemies, so she summons them once more on the stunned rats. Sparks of bright white light rain down.

Yes, it is a bit of a forth wall break on how the adventure was written.

Jenise shrugs, eyeing the doorway. "A pressure plate, maybe? Or maybe there are more enemies inside who opened the door. In either case, I don't want to sleep here until we know that everything behind that door is clear." She starts packing up her bedroll again. "Who else feels like exploring?"

"Sure thing." Jenise recites a brief incantation, touching Ayla's right greave. The armor plate begins to glow with a steady white light.


With the Light from the right greave, you march in single file, with Ayla at the front, followed by Adalphorius and Jenise, and Kilain as rearguard.

The long stone hall ends in a stone chamber
furnished only with cracked, moldering tables on
which lie rusted implements of iron. Rain falls
into the middle of the room from a shaft in the
ceiling that must run all the way to the top of the
tor. From the bottom of the shaft dangles a rope,
swinging slightly. A drain in the center of the
floor allows the water to escape, but old, dark
stains suggest that it was used to carry away other
fluids long ago.

Suddenly, from a doorway on the far side of
the room step two burly humanoids. Each stands
more than 6 feet tall and has feral eyes and flat
facial features. With a roar, the two draw their
weapons and charge.

Kilain stands Hammer in hand, shield on his arm and prepares for battle. He keeps his eyes watching the rear intently as well as the two advancing.

Taking a defensive stance, Al blurts out the formula for a spell. A shimmering dart of force flies from his hand and strikes the creatures attacking them

Ok Kinda Funny how Ayla just made the AC and the HP of a humanoid foe in one attack.

Ayla's sword cuts one of the two foes in half.

The other is now kinda sweating in fear, but standing it's ground.

It swings at Ayla, hoping to take her down first

With Ayla's sword missing the foe his a bit relieved though still sweating as he is injured and in quite the pickle with no escape.
