Can you say more about the Flow? Are there is organizations that ascribe to it? I think my Zealot will be a member of such a group. Happy to make one up, but if one exists (or Seb wants to make one up) I'll happily be a part of that.
Note, my bonus archetype will probably be Void Prophet, so i think my perspective will be that there entire material world and even live itself is illusory, just a manifestation of Flow.
If that's extreme or heretical for Flow adherents normally than I'll be from a fringe group.
Welcome to mysteries of the Flow from a fellow adherent, Yuumuka/gyrfalcon; apart from the campaign guide's mentions of the Flow being really big with the local Half-Giant culture, I've been kind of playing the Flow off as this sorta discount version of the "Force in a far-away, ancient Galaxy" that's more mystically mysterious rather than to do with the extraordinary powers part [in which Psionics more than suitably covers for anyhow] :)

I like the idea that Eleven being from pre Psionic and fall times is a kind Zoratist, with a monotheistic view of faith.
Whereas in the same setting there is Flow or as she sees it Mystics of Taoism, anti-Science, and reason.
"There is but one true God, The 'Great Maker of All', Who crafted both Orga and Mecha alike with space, time, and matter. And when we shut down and the end, our last line of code run, then our designs rejoins the grate maker in a place outside. So sayeth the church AI's of the maker"
Fun to play

Found this really good image of what I think Eleven looks like

Storm Dragon wrote:The whole psychic duel thing is from the printed material -- and yes, the more of this stuff I've read, the more it's not really clear to me why the PCs would be invested in preserving this society, which is the expectation of the AP.Jesus what a dystopia. "I think this little girl might be able to fling fire harder than me we should put her in charge"
How has this society survived this long? That's a...genuine question, now I think of it. WTF?
That does raise a good point to explore, however. What could the benefits of such a society be, what momentum could be attained and maintained that would let it persist in its current state?
The fundamental point seems to be that psychic power is valued, which would allow for stratification of the culture— but that holds only as long as the alternative is not seen as better.
Huh.. Found This, which goes a fair ways to explaining some of that. Accumulated power with regular offshoots and an expansionistic drive will cement a lot. No magic, either... I'm curious about what lurks under the edges.

Good find there, Me'mori/Desidera. Definitely getting bookmarked. :)
Add to that, with the later suggestions of Akashic stuff [the PF "update/adaptation" of the 3.5 Incarnum ruleset; which didn't even exist at the time of this adventure path's creation] being about the possible return of "magic", the Protectorate is probably gonna be seeing some wild-times up ahead...

Can we get a bit of guidance re: campaign expectations? I'm not sure if the Hole of Infinite Doom is supposed to be the main campaign plot hook or what
Did the writers expect all the characters to be super gung ho adventurer types who wouldn't hesitate to go "ADVENTURE...AWAITS!" on a mile deep hole or is it just...a curiosity? I'm a bit lost.

The first part of the adventure is a little open-ended -- I think it's Endzeitgeist's review that describes the whole product as a 75 pg. adventure shoved into 40pp. There's a bunch of suggestions for stuff the characters might do in and around the earthquake, such as dealing with looters.
The dungeons are an invention of mine just like I expanded the city -- if you're not interested in them, you can go do something else. There may be an opportunity to learn about the previous history of the city/setting if you explore, but it's supposed to be foreboding and threatening -- that's why it's mysterious and, for the most part, unexplored.
I always try to provide multiple possible avenues -- more sandbox than railroad. There's a general storyline where eventually the characters are intended to investigate the closing of the kobold mines.

Out of all five of us present, Yuumka would be the only one that can climb indefinitely down the well without any real issue. Most likely though, we could help the other Ophiduan medics in the meantime before reporting our findings to Ashtab at the very least.
Then there's the matter of handling payment; Xonti would use half of the total coins in the payment bag to split things five-ways for the whole group; the other half of the payment would likely be contingent upon seeing to the warehouse...?

Yuumka looked over the edge, and dropped in the rock, in part to get a better sense of if the party as a whole have a way down there.
I'm guessing as you say, it's not possible for anyone but maybe Yuumka, and I don't want to go off on a solo dungeon crawl...but is anyone (including Sebekloki!) sees something I've missed, or thinks I misinterpreted the scene, lemme know!
Otherwise, sure, we can save some injured folks and go back about our day. If you tell Yuumka you're on a job and offer her a cut, she'll prolly join you.

Guys it's been fun, but I'm kulling all my stalled games, nothing personal just work and RL taking my time.
Have fun and a great time.

I shall swing over to table 2 when my head no longer feels like it's full of gloop. COVID is being unkind to my creativity.

No worries, Eleven_Zee_Alpha; you're always welcome to give Table 2 a try when you're able to. :)

May be a bit late at this point but I've heard Zinc [50 mg or less] can kinda help with some of the symptoms.

Fun. Since the symtpons can last a pretty long time even after I can no longer spread it as Nurgle's Chosen Son I'll give that a look and maybe pick some up when I'm free again.

A few quick notes for streamlining play by post games, if something calls for a specific check and you know ahead of time, you can provide a spoiler with the check DC and result listed.
For example, what we're currently doing (going to the university) has taken us 3 days now, and it's looking like it's going to be 4 with no real progress, as you inform us of check reults, we react and give new actions, you react to those actions by giving directions on what check to make, we react, and so on.
If, instead, you take this post:
Ellais' inquires suggest that the group might be well-served by visiting the Psionic Academy within the Citizen's District. Here, there are scholars who study aberrations such as the puppeteers, and their enigmatic offworld masters -- the Phrenic Hegemony.
And tack on something like this:
Suddenly a 4 day process becomes one that only takes a single day, as people make the check and pass/fail, instantly getting their results and moving us on.
As a second note, I'd suggest going with the "two players" rule. If two players suggest a course of action, and there's no specific dissent, after 24 hours just move the game along assuming that course of action.
Keeping games streamlined is key to keeping play by post games alive. While everything you're doing works pretty well in a live game, for both of the games I'm in it begins to drag and frustrate somewhat in play by post format.

I can try some of this, but we're going about as fast as I have time to do right now -- it will depend on if these alterations change the time it takes to make posts -- fair warning, I'm beginning Nursing School next week, and I'm planning on making quick checks of my games once a day -- nothing more than 15-20 minutes, for the most part for several months.

It would be useful if the group would figure out a way to get into the Psionic Academy and have a chat w/ someone there -- there's a lot of backstory to the puppeteers that is central to the AP that can be divulged here and would clarify some of the major conflicts in the world. The knowledge skill required to get this information otherwise is beyond the immediate grasp of your characters.

Yeah, I think sadly we ended up with a party pretty low on smarts. Tai Leng has a couple of knowledges but neither is really relevant to this situation...maybe? I'm not sure if Kn. History could apply or not.
Potentially Kn. Local fits his character better than Kn. Psionics, but that's the one I took.

Yup, theoretically you can get away with using a half [25 mgs via a pill splitter] dose of Zinc since I've heard that having too much zinc isn't all that ideal for the body.
Table 2? where dat den?
Right over here; we're all at the Psionic Academy inquiring about Puppeteers. ;)
Yeah, no kidding -- I just spent all day listening to a little more than 6 hours of orientation videos, and I still have to do 300+ pages of reading and some other stuff for week one, which ends with a quiz on Sunday, and a test on Monday. And this isn't even an accelerated program.
Thirded on the congrats to your Nursing school education. :)

Not sure if there's be any interest in having a ooc mock combat session done... but I had noticed that with the addition of vigor/wounds to our character stats, combat could potentially be played out in a way that not everyone would be familiar with in standard PF1e combat.
It doesn't even have to be an in-game continuity sorta thing; could just be a separate, unrelated thread- we all could end up fighting inflated bags, labeled with the letters, "HP", with wee arms/noodle-ly legs/weaponry/armor as a way to test out how this type of combat might feel to everyone. ;p
Just throwing some stray, unwarranted thoughts out there. ;)

No worries, Sebecloki; figured that it was the case over on your end of things [nurses be in big demand with the recent Covid stuff and all, here in the States].

So, I don't want to keep anyone in suspense -- I'm honestly ending up crushed by the amount of work for nursing school and I'm going to have to regretfully take a break from the boards for now. If you want to keep your profiles active I may be able to pick up this game again in a few months, but after a solid week of having no time to look at my games, I need to just go ahead and call it how I see it. I wish everyone good gaming and hope to see you around later.
