Damage: 1d6 + 6 ⇒ (4) + 6 = 10
Sneak Attack: 1d6 ⇒ 5
Moving to get into a flanking position, Eldric let loose a flurry of blows aimed at the oversized gnome’s pressure points. One landed home, taking the gnome in the side of the neck.
Griselda the Silver Witch |
Griselda will try to give her companions an advantage against the gnome

if it hits swift action to Constrict and moves into flanking position
Constrict: 1d4 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8

Damage: 1d6 + 6 ⇒ (6) + 6 = 12
The Storm Crow |
Round 2
The flanked gnome attempts to frighten Ghostwind and Griselda with a scare spell.
Ghostwind Will: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8
Griselda Will: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (7) + 4 = 11 both flee for four rounds!
The giant sized one moves to flank, then it and its match across the side attack Eldric and Relzak respectively.

Confirm 2: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (8) + 7 = 15
Damage: 1d6 + 6 ⇒ (6) + 6 = 12
With one gnome down, Eldric stepped forward towards the oversized one that was far too close to their king for comfort. He took a moment to size the foe up, and then gave a kick to the nether-regions, followed up by a punch to the throat, and finally a spinning kick to the ear.
Relzak the Fearless Warrior |
The battle map is only showing an older version for me, for some reason, and I don't see a way to force an update. Feel free to move Relzak around on the map so his actions make sense.
Whooping in triumph as gnome-thing he attacked falls, Relzak turns his attention to the next closest gnome and decides that they're too tall. He aims to chop some of the height off of one of their legs.
Attack: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (16) + 9 = 25
Damage + Precise Strike: 1d6 + 4 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 4 + 3 = 9
The Storm Crow |
No, he did not have to provoke

Relzak punctures the final one with a quick strike!
The last gnome grows to his larger size!
Turn order:
1. Relzak
2. Griselda
3. Ghostwind
4. Gnomes???
5. Eldric
6. Handerbald
Status:
Griselda and Ghostwind: fleeing 2 more rounds!
Final one: -9
that brings up Eldric and Relzak again there
Eldric Lightbringer |
"Relzak, get behind him and brace!" With that, Eldric took off running at full speed towards the last of the large gnomes. Rather than slow down, he leapt into the air, brought both feet into his chest, and kicked out with all of his might.
Charge with flank?: 1d20 + 7 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 7 + 2 + 2 = 17
Damage: 1d6 + 6 ⇒ (6) + 6 = 12
Sneak Attack if flanked: 1d6 + 6 ⇒ (3) + 6 = 9
Relzak the Fearless Warrior |
Strategy!
Relzak darts around the large gnome's legs to get behind it.
Acrobatics: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (15) + 9 = 24
Once in position, he times his strike for the same time as Eldric's.
Attack + Flank: 1d20 + 9 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 9 + 2 = 27
Damage + Precise Strike: 1d6 + 4 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 4 + 3 = 9
Menacing Swordplay: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (18) + 9 = 27 <--This is a swift action Intimidate/demoralize attempt
The Storm Crow |
Eldric and Relzak both hit and the final of the creatures here goes down.
End of combat
From here, the trail of the limbering gnome like creatures is easy enough to follow, and after an hours walk (over he border), you see ahead about a mile away a squat, round building where they must have come from.
Griselda the Silver Witch |
After composing herself from her shameful display Griselda asks her companions
" I must apologize I must say I was not entirely prepared for that...... Battles are quite different when your in one to just hearing about them"
She looks to her companions to see if any where injured while she was indisposed so she can try to be useful in at least that
Eldric Lightbringer |
”Magic is the great equalizer. No matter how strong one might be, it levels the field. It could quite easily have been any of us who fell prey to their spell, so there is no reason for apologies. Or should I apologize the next time that a fireball sets my hair aflame?” Eldric responded with a good natured smile.
Relzak the Fearless Warrior |
Relzak studies the building from afar.
"They are raiders into Tharbenia territory, so raiding and conquering in return is justified. But since we do not know why raiders come or how many raiders are, perhaps talking can be good way to find out."
He nods at Griselda's apology, but does not say anything.
Ghostwind, the Harbinger |
"There are many questions to be answered still, we should try to talk first" Ghostwind says. "There's always time for violence later."
Eldric Lightbringer |
"It is decided then, that we will parlay with them. But I must ask our king to retreat from this, for we do not know what is in there. Should we fall, then more may be recruited to take our place. But should you be captured." He looked to the oracle. [/b]"Or worse, then our entire kingdom might be in jeopardy."[/b]
Griselda the Silver Witch |
"But his leaving after a battle could also be taken as a sign of weakness or cowardly. At this point I believe we should all progress, but should we run into trouble our first priority is getting the king out safely. Even if it means the rest of us stay behind"
The Storm Crow |
New map is up- the hut/building in question is ahead if you want to set up the blue box is about where you start before needing any stealth checks.
Eldric Lightbringer |
I took the liberty of putting us on the map. Please, everyone, move yourself where you want to be. Also, given that our King isn't currently here right now, should one of us use him in combat, or should The Storm Crow possess him?
The Storm Crow |
Pending party decision on how to approach- stealth, knocking, ect
I'll DM Handerband again, but if he doesn't respond I'll bot him
Relzak the Fearless Warrior |
"There are many questions to be answered still, we should try to talk first" Ghostwind says. "There's always time for violence later."
"Yes. I will go knock."
Unless someone stops him, Relzak will head towards the building. If he makes it without interruption, he will give three measured pounds on the door with his fist.
Ghostwind, the Harbinger |
While the rest of the party go straight, Ghostwind decides to stay a bit away and sneak, just in case their received with lethal force. In that case, there's a chance they won't expect an extra combatant.
Stealth: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (14) + 10 = 24
Can someone please move me along the southern trees?
The Storm Crow |
Relzak knocks on the door. Inside you hear a chittering, then, voice says, deeply in common, "Who would bother the Spriggan Lord?"
Eldric Lightbringer |
"The God King Handerbald III himself has come!" Eldric announced, somewhat haughtily. "To demand answers and restitution for the crimes committed against the people of Tharbenia. Open this door and parlay." The monk demanded.
Intimidate: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (11) + 7 = 18
Relzak the Fearless Warrior |
Relzak grins at Eldric's forceful language, standing up straighter in pride.
"Tharbenia doesn't want fighting, but won't run from attacks on Tharbenia people!'
Intimidate/Aid Another: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (17) + 9 = 26
The Storm Crow |
”the Spriggan Lord recognizes no borders, not kings, no Tharbenia nor otherwise here- this whole island is Spriggan Land by divine right, and we shall kill any who say otherwise.”
Eldric Lightbringer |
Eldric looked to their King and said, matter of factly "It would seem that we have little choice but to remove this threat. While we could wait for your armies to arrive, I believe that if we deal with this issue ourselves it would serve to increase your prestige in the eyes of the people."
Griselda the Silver Witch |
Griselda listened to the arrogant creature speak to the king
" I'm inclined to agree on this my Lord this creature clearly has no intention of parlaying. But we can surmise as well since he follows no kings or laws he is not in liege with the Fey king."
The Storm Crow |
Assuming there's a plan to kick in the door at this point then?
Eldric Initiative: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (8) + 3 = 11
Ghostwind Initiative: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10
Handerbald Initiative: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (18) + 2 = 20
Griselda Initiative: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (14) + 6 = 20
Relzak Initiative: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (10) + 6 = 16
Spriggans Init: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (19) + 4 = 23
Round 1
Inside you hear the sounds of casting, of size shifting, and of at least one crossbow being loaded. . .
Turn order:
1. Spriggans
2. Handerbald
3. Griselda
4. Relzak
5. Eldric
6. Ghostwind
That brings up everyone now!
Griselda the Silver Witch |
Griselda wanting to make up for her previous battle decides to use a special elixir. She drinks a dark green potion and begins to grow in size (Enlarge Person)
Eldric Lightbringer |
"A plan, if you would all agree to it. My liege, if you would bless us, and once done we can throw the door open. Let your fire spread forth, while the Silver Witch attacks with ice. We charge in the second after the ice and flames."
Round 1: Everyone casts their buffs. Melee readies action to attack should the fey open the doors to attack. If they likewise do not, then round 2 starts. Griselda does a move action to open the door and standard action Snowball. Handerbald readies burning hands. After that, the melee all charge in. It's cinematic, and constitutes teamwork.
Ghostwind, the Harbinger |
I was about to post yesterday, thinking about my action, but sleep was way faster.
Ghostwind nods, but he knows his attacks lose part of their power if readied, and he's quite squishy himself if stealth is our of the equation. He opts, then, for a bit more defensive approach.
Casts Shield
The Storm Crow |
Round 1
Relzak positions himself and Ghostwind casts shield.
Inside, whatever the Spriggans are doing, they do but do not come out.
Turn order:
1. Spriggans
2. Handerbald
3. Griselda
4. Relzak
5. Eldric
6. Ghostwind
That brings up everyone for round 2
Griselda the Silver Witch |
As a move action Griselda will open the door and immediately try to grapple the first person she sees with her hair(10ft reach)
Grapple: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (13) + 6 = 19
If it hits i will use a swift action to Constrict
Constrict: 1d6 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6
i don't have snowball prepared
Eldric Lightbringer |
Round 1 King casts bless. Round 2 King opens door and casts burning hands.
Burning hands: 1d4 ⇒ 3
Eldric Hit: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (19) + 7 = 26
Damage: 1d6 + 6 ⇒ (4) + 6 = 10
Sneak Attack: 1d6 ⇒ 1
With the door open and flames filling the room, Eldric charged into the fray.
Relzak the Fearless Warrior |
"AaaayyYYYAAaaaaaYYYaaaa!" Relzak screams as he runs inside and tries to cut down the first enemy he sees.
If he is attacked with a melee strike, I'm declaring that I'll use the Opportune Parry and Riposte deed. Will make those rolls as needed.
Attack: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (14) + 9 = 23
Damage: 1d6 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10
The Storm Crow |
remember there are two attack rolls for opportune parry and riposte- one to succeed the parry, then a second to hit on the riposte
Relzak the Fearless Warrior |
remember there are two attack rolls for opportune parry and riposte- one to succeed the parry, then a second to hit on the riposte
Right, but I said I'd make those rolls if someone actually attacks Relzak. The roll in my post above is just his standard attack for the first target he sees and can reach, not related to the deed.
The only reason I even brought it up is that the rules for the deed say I have to declare the attempt "after the creature’s attack is announced, but before its attack roll is made," which is a difficult process to follow in a PbP game. If we want to change the deed up somewhat to fit PbP better, I'm for that.
