You guys ever think about a game after you finished your PC and been like "you know what would have really been helpful to a kingdom.... A master spy" lol so I was looking over the neighboring countries and thinking about what I could do to the game and I was like a female geisha rouge with later levels in master spy. Her weapon of choice gold spiked chain that doubles as a layered necklace. Question for the GM could I make this NPC as my contact I pay for information on my sister maybe later on could come in as the cohort?

Being a spy for this campaign could be super fun. It's PvP, not vs. NPCs, so I'm envisioning a scenario where the other kingdoms know we have a spy in out-of-game knowledge, so we'd have to handle everything using PMs with the GM. And then the players of the other kingdoms would start getting suspicious about every new NPC they encounter.

I'm sure that the GM is working on putting the touches of the kingdoms. I'm in a campaign of his that's run for over 2 years, so he's proven reliability when it comes to launching and running campaigns. But this project? It's ambitious. It's running 3 interconnected story lines at once. And more than just making a living, breathing town, he's making several kingdoms. That takes alot of time and prep work.
So I'm sure that he's got a timeline on when to hit the launch button. In the meantime, we could start getting some RP in on the gameplay if you all like.

Looks like we have 3 out of 15 characters left to finish between the tables; once we hit that part I should be able to launch within a few days, but not till sometime this weekend in any case-- should have major completion update Saturday or Sunday for everyone!

The Storm Crow |

Missing one on the sheet- I see four completed characters and one blank spot-- looks like it's our fearless God King- if you can fill in and give us the up when ready!
Also- you will see the "stuff" that makes up the Kingdom has been added on slides and a new "Kingdom Sheet" spreadsheet- take a look, this is the sheet that will be "powering" the Kingdom turns of the game.

Eldric Lightbringer |

Interesting...each kingdom has different starting stats. Everyone starts with 32 Levies, but after that it is customized. For example, ours has fewer stores but more fervor. Also our armies appear to be pretty strong. Everything seems pretty balanced as far as I can tell.
Now, I'm trying to get a hang of the rules here. But something sticks out to me, which I think could be really cool. Build a monastery. It alone gives us +2 Fervor and +2 Levies, and allows an army to be made of monks. Which is great! Because monks don't require being paid like a normal army, don't require weapons or armor, and because they are religious would be loyal to us so long as we stand by the faith. And that shouldn't be too hard for us. It seems like a great way to me to improve our position while staying very IC.
I mean, who could accuse us of being warmongerers for building a monastery and training people in the way of their faith? The fact that they can do lethal damage with their fists is just coincidence. ;)
And from there, I would prioritize building a temple, and then a seminary. While I'm sure that other kingdoms will do things like rush for arcane dominance, I think that we can push for divine dominance. It isn't as flashy as arcane power, but it has the benefit of making for a more stable kingdom. Being able to do things like provide healing and spiritual assistance to the common man should increase their loyalty and make them more willing to go through the inevitable hardships that will come.
Plus, if we can get to the point where we can have clerics as a major force in all of our armies...well. I think that the power of that speaks for itself! And again, doing all of this strengthens us without being overtly threatening to any neighbors. Something which diplomatically is to our advantage.

I also think many put power dominance on Arcane but devine is just as good we just have to make sure to stay true to said faith or bye bye power XD. Personally when playing a full caster I go for Mystic Theurgy it's my favorite class a Jack of All Traded for magic XD

Sorry for the slowness on my end. It's been an odd week. My goal is to finish my character this weekend.
I decided to pick up the Spirit Guide archetype, with the spirits in question being previous royals and angelic spirits.
The archetype says that some spirits would be off-limit due to the character's mystery and ethos. I'd suggest that in Handerbald's case those would be Bones, Slums and Tribe. None of those fit him.
I'd keep Dark Tapestry, just like Pacifa has the Void domain. It would be a last resort though, something to reach for in times of desperation.
I agree that divine dominance would be the way to go though if possible I'd also like to put some effort in the development of science, particularly astronomy. Only fitting for a country with Pacifa as it's state deity. It would also help with navigation, making us a stronger seafaring nation.
As for the state armies, currently the Lancer Corpse are listed as Fighters. Personally I'd envisioned them as Cavaliers, mostly a mix of Order of the Lion and Order of the Star, all with the Celestial Servant feat for their celestial horses.

The Storm Crow |

I'm aiming for a Wednesday evening kick off now, if everyone can wrap characters by then please.

God King Handerbald III |

It took me way too long, but Handerbald is done.
The Red Dragonhide Breastplate he wears is an ancestral piece, first worn by and made for an ancient ancestor who slew said dragon(or a similar creature claimed to be a dragon) long ago and claimed it's stomping grounds as Tharbenia.
That was centuries ago though and none have seen anything like it since.
(I know there are no dragons in the current age, but if there were in ages past it would be one of them. If not, some other primordial lizard, perhaps a dinosaur or the such)

The Storm Crow |

Correct- there have been no dragons for close to 1000 years since the Second Age-- they all flew away to somewhere unknown after their dragon god was killed.

The Storm Crow |

No- sorry, my life went a little off the rails the end of this week, I'll get it moving back here tonight.

Don't apologize for RL i understand that's why I was asking. No rush make sure you take care of RL first that's more important i will definitely still be here when you deal with your RL issue .
Hope everything turn out well, sending good vibes your way XD

So a basic rundown of Griselda she came in threw her hair at someone twice then proceeded to scream and run away........just give me 32 cats and the image is perfect lol

The Storm Crow |

As did I. I’m reaching the point where I’m going to have to make decisions on characters who aren’t posting on these three games, but I wanted to get through the initial scenarios before I did.

God King Handerbald III |

Figured I'd post here as that's simpler than answering all 3 PM's separately.
For starters I hadn't quite realised it had been so long since my last post here, could have sworn it was just before last weekend.
Biggest reason for my silence is that I'm stuck with a question: Why? Why would the king of an established nation with a standing army be out there risking his live? Why go on a road trip with his council, leaving his country ungoverned, when the realm is still recovering from the loss of the previous monarch?
Not to help his people, because in trying to help a few border villages he abandons the rest of the nation. Heck, he even risks all out war with his southern neighbours in more than one way. For starters they might see the attention and high profile forays across the border without previous communication to be a sign of ill will. Even worse, should the king fall the logical consequence would be the nation blaming that on the fey, aka their southern neighbours, and that would be an assured road towards war.
In short, I can't, for the life of me, figure out my character's motivation for being where he is in the game. He's a king, not an adventurer.

Griselda the Silver Witch |

I also think the king should have a second character to play out his adventurer because yeah kings don't really do that stuff unless it's already war end they are on the front lines fighting

The Storm Crow |

I mean. . . it's somewhat the conceit of the game . . . also, important to think of the right frame (Iron/Bronze age "Kingdoms" rather than modern or high medieval actual Kingdoms)-- your title might be King, but ultimately you're closer to warlords ruling what in high medieval terms would be at best Duchies. . .
Or consider characters in fiction like Dr. Doom or Black Adam- both sovereign leaders of nation states who fight in the front lines because they are of exceptional abilities.
Having a PC King who sits out all the combats doesn't make for a particularly engaging game in certain respects.

Relzak the Fearless Warrior |

Lots of Kingmaker games go through this question, and it's often resolved by adopting a "lead from the front" philosophy. You're one of the elites of the kingdom, and you're not willing to let others go and risk their lives doing what you may be better equipped to do.

The Storm Crow |

So- in my eternal quest to make interesting and interactive combat scenarios, I’ve decided to incorporate two of the very few good things from 5th edition to those of my games which are still in early stages including this one.
Those are- lair and legendary actions.
For anyone who hasn’t dabbled in fifth Ed, these are special actions that some enemies get in order to counteract the dreadful action economy that makes what should be “challenging” enemies end up missing twice before dying without having to make them so much higher cr than the party that they become unkillable or tpk machines.
Lair actions happen only when you are fighting an enemy in their “lair” or home- hence the name. They happen on initiative 20 always, one per round.
Legendary actions are actions powerful foes can take throughout the round (jumping in to take them after any action)- they usually have several options and 3 actions worth to take per round, with some actions taking two or all three of those.
These are in addition to existing AOOs and reactions that I might craft onto monsters other ways.
I just wanted to let everyone know so whenever I spring this on you in combat the first time you aren’t surprised, confused, and angered.

Ghostwind, the Harbinger |

Yeah, I'm familiar with this. We played through all Curse of Strahd and the bastard had quite some nice tricks up his sleeves.
Unfortunately for him, we had a Paladin/Warlock called Chernobyl. He was dealing tons of radiant damage with each hit xD

The Storm Crow |

Everyone can act now and Handerbald can act for both rounds.

The Storm Crow |

Got it Relzak-
The way I usually run parry and riposte in pbp is to have the player spoiler the rolls with a condition that triggers whether they is it-
Put your three rolls (parry, riposte, damage here)
Can set the condition however you want- maybe you only want to use it if a particular enemy attacks or if you’re flanked or whatever, but just put the contingency in there and if it doesn’t come up you don’t use the panache -!that way I can resolve the parry with the whole round.
