For the first time since this whole expedition began, Zabu seems to be fully aware of his surroundings and what happened.

"What? Where am I? What happened? How did I get here? Ugh! I knew there was something strange about that barkeep. But how was I supposed to know the chef was her sister? Or that we were in her bedroom?"

"Oh, you like knocking people down huh? Well let me show you how it's done," he says, turning his attention to the current situation.

He reaches out a taloned hand to sweep at the legs of the closest fairy.

Zabu! Good to have you back!
Zabu seems to finally wake up from whatever the barkeep did to him before he boarded the ship. He does show that he can react to a situation in record time by tripping the black fey creature and then slashing it with his claws. The fey gives a gurgle as is dies from the wounds.

Teja has a spark of inspiration over the mushrooms, and quickly pulls apart some of the summoning magic. However she can't seem to find the rights ones to pull after the burst of insight.

Horatio recalls what he can about the fey, realizing they must be nuglubs, the largest of the gremlin family and lovers of killing the way most other gremlins are interested in tinkering with things. They also have an instinctive reaction to kneecap anyone taller than them moving around. He also pegs the last standing nuglub with a massive flame. Critical hit

Oskar moves in closer to the fight as he sends a rock spiraling into the head of the remaining fey.

Maximilian moves in closer and tries to help disable the mushroom, but he can't quite grasp how the magic is working and pulls a mushroom at random. It doesn't help.

Ruby however proves her ability by digging her claws into the nuglub and killing it outright. A second crit.

GM, how much time - in game - between encounters? Oskar has Assurance Medicine, so he can give 2d8 healing automatically to both Zabu and Roumatha, via Treat Wounds. If we have at least an hour before the next encounter then he can do so again if needed.

If we have less than an hour before the next encounter, I could also use Battle Medicine to give Roumatha another 2d8 healing, but then I won't be able to use it on him again for 1 day.

Pointing at your group he calls you up. ”Good work on those mushrooms. But seems there’s something that has been taking down some of our scouts by the sound of that scream. I want you to go see if you can’t find what happened to them and report back if the way is clear.” The dwarf then puts a finger to his lips and speaks quietly. “There’s things here that aren’t what they seem. Some of those fey are real tricky...looking like things they aren’t. Don’t trust your eyes.”

The tracks of the scouts are fairly easy to follow until they hit a patch of rocks that lead to a downed tree across a river. It takes a few seconds to figure out but it seems like the scouts kept to the path and across the tree. As you reach the tree though, a brilliant white horse in full bridle and gear waves its mane in the sun glinting off the river. It seems to be terrified of having lost its master and shies away from the path.

Oop no that did not. For some reason I thought those were the rolls, not additional. He's down to -2.

Zabu rushes into the combat as his body shifts oddly. He takes a quick bite of mud and it almost seems to hit a critical spot. The mud seems to recover some of the glgaping hole but not fully.

Roumatha marks his prey and remembers that this is a mudwretch, a lowly elemental that needs water to survive. Enough fire damage or some kind of wilting spell would severely hurt the thing. Also it creates an aura of mud around itself the means within 10 feet of it difficult terrain.
I described it in character but forgot to say so directly. If it would have made your movements different, don't worry it was my mistake.

Oskar rightly gets away from the critic of a horse and patches up the hole in his shoulder enough to keep the bleeding down and get some mobility back into the arm.

Max uses his rapier the cold iron one I'm assuming and lands a solid blow on the horse. It shies away some from the cold iron as its form shudders. The wound seems to bleed more profusely than it should. You hit a weakness

Ruby then also racks her claws down the side of the horse as well. She digs in deep, but the thing resists the fire in her claws as water seems to ooze out he wounds along with blood. It resists fire

Teja fients the mud thing already partially distracted by Roumatha and then stabs through what sounds like a very tender spot. That's a crit with FF, EDIT: but the pile of living mud is immune. It seems obvious in hindsight.

Finally, Horatio proves his ability to serve even in battle by quickly applying a bountious blessing of Halcamora onto Maximilian's blade, a small symbol of grapes and a wine jug appearing on the weapon. He then throws up a barrier between himself and the rogue horse.

The mudwretch then steps out of the way of Roumatha's flanking and in line with Zabu and Teja and then spews a stream of mud all over them.

Zabu and Teja both try to avoid the mud spray. Zabu is able to duck under the worst of it, only getting a little muddy in the process, but that leaves Teja to take the full blast and get absolutely caked in it.

Zabu then shifts to wrestling the mud man and quickly drops him to the ground with a terrifying sounding crack. That was a crit! 1d6 ⇒ 4 The gnome then tears into the mudwretch leaving him looking wretched with claw marks up and down it's body. He does realize the damage from the fall seems to have really hurt compared to his claws. Again some resistance to physical, but apparently not bludgeoning.

Roumatha steps up behind and takes some massive swings at the prone figure, missing once but then scoring deep into the muddy pile. It seems to barely be able to hold itself together after that.

Horsey on the other hand seems perfectly chipper, as it finishes the shoulder of Oskar and seems to still be hungry. It lunges in for a bite on Maximilian, taking a bit of the man's quadriceps in the process.
