Well, yes, I definitely agree, also on being a caveman that still prefers pencil and paper.
But once you start playing more than let's say, once each three months, the folders quickly get out of its binders with tones of papers, and you start investing more time handling chronicles and updating characters than preparing new adventures. Specially if you have a mix of table and virtual games and you have to scan table chronicles and print virtual chronicles.
And not everyone is equally good at keeping paperwork up to date and organizing everything by character. I know it is not uncommon to have piles of unclassified chronicles and not updated characters, specially for GMs that host games every week.

It is certainly some work to keep both the paper and online files up to date. I am a big fan of the three ring binder with subject dividers to keep my characters in order. It takes far less time to be organised up front then to get organised after the fact. Players that come to the game without updated characters and with no clue how to play these characters are a drag on the entire table who actually just want to sit down and play the game.
That being said I am really looking forward to unprepared players wasting everyone's time in a real live game. At least that will mean that Covid is actually over. :)
I always bring a separate tablet for GMs to view my chronicles since it gets tedious for me to organize all the paper chronicles though I do keep them in separate binders.
I play almost exclusively online, so my few physical chronicles I scan. Then if anyone actually wants to see a chronicle (and I don't think I have ever had anyone ask) I can provide access to it.
