Storyteller Shadow I have never stopped accepting folks but I also let them know what my player limit is going to be and then let them decide if they want to submit a concept even though they are simply in queue for when a spot opens up.
The spots are given out on a first come basis but then the more important element comes in the character submission order. As active players over inactive spot holders are what I am more interested in. So it kind of looks like this.
Interest Denoted
Player_1
Player_2
Player_3
Player_4
Player_5
Submissions
1) Player_3
2) Player_2
3) Player_5
4) Player_4
I have done this many times, and the last time I did it I said I was taking 5 to 7 players and I got a total of 16 applicants and having to instruct applicants 8 thru 16 that they might not make it in but if they wanted to speed up the process should an opening occur they could submit a character ahead of time and I would review it as I had time. As it turned out everyone that actively submitted a character and wanted to play actually ended up playing as almost half never submitted a character and a few did not get past their initial submission before ghosting or bowing out. And even if I there were some in queue and I did not have the band width or desire to run a second game, they would stay in queue until a spot opened up -- if one did that is. Still I did not diss-respect them. They fully understood upfront that I would hold them in queue until a spot opened up (if one did) and then they could choose to submit the character then. This is to say, I do not require players to waste there time in case they do not get to join and I never diss-miss a player unless their views are totally against what I am trying to run. This happens, for instance I state upfront only heroic characters of (LG, NG, CG, or LN) will be excepted but I would still get players from time to time wanting to play a CN, NE or CE character. Or I was running a supers game once and said I wanted low powered supers and a player came in created a character meant to break the rules and eventually said I want to play a god-like character and I want all the players to play god-like characters. Strange as it is to me some folks just think that a game should bow to their desires always regardless of what anyone else wants. Those folks I simply say I am not the ST you are looking for I am sorry. I hope you find that game some day.
The key is simply be upfront and honest with your players, and respect them as individuals. If they are willing to put effort into creating a character and be active that is what you need most. Besides the GM is supposed to be helping each player make a better character for the campaign they plan to run as that is not something a player can do. Its the 3rd-dimesion of a character which sadly so rarely gets implemented these days.

These days I don't have time to run more than the 3 I already run, but that's an interesting approach to recruitment.
I did enjoying running an AP with 3 different parties as each group approached things differently so even though you are "running the same adventure" it always feels different because of the different dynamics of each group.

Started my job yesterday, so far I am enjoying it!
Teaching or Administration?
Storyteller Shadow
I thonk it will be. a hodge podge ofnhrlping kids wiyh GED or diploma work.
Gotcha.
I contemplated switching over to teaching 15 years ago but the market was so flooded at the time that it just didn't make sense.
I might try to adjunct in a few years once baby is a little older and moving is complete and I'm all settled in. Unfortunately, I'll probably be teaching Law instead of History :-(

About a ueat and a half ago, two uears ago, I helped write thr New Social Studies Standards for the State of NM focusing on World
Neat.
I considered getting a Masters in History back then but my debt load from school was already too high and I had just dropped out of an LLM program so I was too burnt to do the school and work thing at the same time.
It's never going to happen now unless I get frisky in retirement.

I would love to have a degree in history. My undergraduate did not have that option, so I had to minor in Social Sciences as the closest thing. My two Masters are not in that field, Psychology and Education and all but thesis in theology. I am like one class away from an AA in History.

Security Overrider - Cost: 15,000
Weight: 0.2 Kilograms
This device is inserted into a standard data port in order to disable active security measures. It is often used by burglars and covert military units to shut down security protocols and open locked doors. Once in place, the overrider provides a +5 Equipment bonus to Disable Program and Improve Access attempts with a Use Computer skill check. This device is highly illegal in most systems.
*******
Lockbreaker - Cost: 24,000
Weight: 0.5 Kilograms
These highly illegal devices are popular among criminals, slicers and spies all over the galaxy. They are used to circumvent locks and security devices, granting a +10 Equipment bonus to the Disable Device function of the Mechanics skill. The Lockbreaker serves as the Security Kit required for this action.

Not sure where the PCs are in wealth/credits currently but these would make sense in my pivot to Slicer.

You might want to requisition items from the noble. Sadly, Saga does not provide a WBL table and I do not think that the group has earned much money in the AP.

OK! I'll discuss that with Ardan in my next scene with him.

Nope, we have not earned much money, and there is no WBL table.
I apologize for not being on the last couple of days.
My work days, and my Days off, are all blurring into working days.
New Roof, Windows, AC, Fence, Deck, and Doors.
All in the last 30 days. :( (Gawds, do my Paycheques get hammered by the financing for all of that. :(
Constantly having to run the dogs, and cats to the kennels, due to not wanting the contractors be be eaten by my mastiff, and the (indoor) Cats to escape.

Basically from my understanding being the mechanic my job is to regenerate the shields when they get damaged. The pilot does the flying stuff and maybe guns. Some folks (if we have them) do gunner stuff. Not much more to space combat than that is there?
The one that needs to be the most in the know is the pilot and/or co-pilot which if I recall correctly my character is not.
I was trying to bring along a workship, a hodge-podge old starfighter but that got vetoed. Still if the group wants we can install docking clamps on the ship so that you can dock a starfighter to it for going into hyperspace and we can pick up a misused starfighter for cheap and I can work to make it more functional or maybe Arden can buy a brand new one hot off the assembly line.

HOLO NEWS
Emperor Palpatine extends his sympathies and condolences towards the family of the asteroid that was brutally struck down in the prime of life by a ship known only as the Banshee/
Prox Simmoss
As stated Artee and to some degree Prox are doing internal repairs where needed. However any external damage not already fully repaired would have to wait at least until we exit Hyperspace.
Having done a cursory look, the general consensus is that existing outside the ship during Hyperspace is not good for ones health as one will most likley not be protected by the ships internal systems.
To prevent the relativistic passing of time while in hyperspace, starships used stasis fields attuned to hyperdrive levels to keep organic onboard crews or cargoes "in time" with the standard galactic dimension.
Thus as one person put it, gooification is the likely outcome for any organic matter outside of a ship's internal protecive systems while in hyperspace. Further I am not even sure a droid could easily survive that either but they would be more likely, however this would mean opening the ship up to hyperspace on some level to get something outside the interior of the ship. Which I cannot imagine would be a good idea either.
However it is ulitmately the GMs call, as to whether this can or cannot be done within their unverisal galatic laws of physics
Dreamchaser Plainstalker
Well, R2D2 was on the hull of the Naboo Cruiser when it went into hyperspace.
I can see droids existing for short periods on the hull in hyperspace, but I can see that as a last resort thing.
After all, R2, came inside the ship, after it hit hyperspeed, which was a short period.

I have wondered what if someone, who is not a Jedi, does not want to use the Dark Side but are forced to do so or die. Would they be lost to the Dark Side or could they, once rescued, subsequently return by denouncing it and pursuing only the Light Side of things?
I understand those that choose to use it for power and such can be lost to it, but what if that is not your motivation and mere survival (staying alive) is.
A question posed to the Jedi's starting with a padawan and then going to the master Jedi if he would be willing to answer such a question.
I can officially pose this in-game as well (or we can just consider that Prox has done so) but thought I would toss the subject out here as I the player am kind of interested in what the other players have to say on this as well as what or how the GM would rule this.
