He is tuning them sideways. A lot of GM's do.

What I've been doing is flipping their token upside down, and marking them with comments, though the picture for these particular guys doesn't look spectacularly different when flipped. I'll go ahead and delete the two dying ones to make it easier.
As for healing them, who knows! Some parties go out of their way not to kill things, and some monsters have regeneration.

Of the healer channels before the are decapitated to ensure they are thoroughly dead.

Hey all, since now we've rested and are getting onto the plains, would we all be good with Hustling? I didn't see any other ways to speed ourselves up on Plains so it seems like a good time for it.

Cool! You can Hustle 1 time each day with no penalty, and this is the second phase of day 2. If you like, you can Hustle again the following morning, so that would take you all the way through the final Plains tile, and you'd just have the last Jungle tile to get through on the 2nd Phase of day 3. If you do a Forced March for another Day 2 phase, you'd take some nonlethal damage but you'd start day 3 with only one tile left to go.

He could always buy one. Bone is a legal special material and once your make it +1 it loses the fragile quality
