Sorry for not posting earlier... :-/
Dimak wakes up from the noise downstairs and decides if he is not able to sleep, he can as well join the party and start drinking again.
Sitting in a corner, sulking in his mug, Dimak does not talk to anyone but the barmaids - and only to order another beer (which is quite often as it is free).
When Rimetusk appeares, he gives him a short taxing glance, but he goes back to his mug afterwards.
Only after Ayaki comes over and mentiones that the troll respects whoever wins a wrestling match against him, Dimak face lights up and he starts smiling again.
"Whyy did nobodyy tell me thish befooore? ...it doeshn't matter. Ssshall I challllenge him noow? Or better tom-tomorrow? Don't wanna dishturb tshe paartyyy..." he asks Ayaki, slurring his words 'slightly'.
I personally think it would be better if the wrestling is done tomorrow - when the dwarf is sober again.
But if Ayaki thinks the match should be the highlight of the party, Dimak will gladly entertain him!

![]() |

Eventhough the Sylph is not the partying type he see how this town needed some relief. Ever the silent, Amun stuck to his corner of the room, keeping watch over the event.
When even Dimak came back from his slumber to drink he sat down next to him and drank his beer in silence.
A quiet smile snuck across his face when the drunk dwarf made clear that he was interested in an arm wrestle match with a troll.
"A dwarf against a troll? Now this is something worth watching." he said to himself audibly enough that nearby persons could hear him.
His eyes were now fixed on Ayaki, eagerly waiting for a response.
I will not intervene if the wrestling is done in the night. Only if furniture gets broken or someone is at risk of injury.

Rewind
Hearing Dimak's suggestion, Ayaki quickly talked against it.
"Oh, please, don't try to wrestle tonight. Do it tomorrow. Let everyone enjoy the evening. After all, wouldn't you too want to be at your full power when fighting?"
He then leaned in and continued with a whisper to both Dimak and Amun. "Besides... if people continue drinking a lot, my guess is that many will be in bed tomorrow morning, so we can bring our goblins through with fewer problems."

![]() |

"Ye're riiight, Ayayaki, ye're absholut'ly riiiiight...leth's do thish tomorrow..." Dimak murmurs to Ayaki, followed by a loud and surprisingly clear "Maid, another!".
Dimak will continue to drink until the party starts to end. Then he will go to bed, too - but not without a last refill...
Thanks for all the roleplaying, guys! I'm having fun! :-)
I think we can continue to the next day.

![]() |

Amun took a note of the event and hopes that the wrestling match will unfold tomorrow.
"Sharp thinking Ayaki, I like where this is going. And if Dimak wins tomorrow against that troll, who knows, maybe we have even fewer problems?" whsipers Amun with a sly wink.
"I will leave you now though. To think sharply one needs rest!"
The Sylph then takes another mug of beer but goes upstairs to unwind in relative silence and peace.
We can continue on the next day indeed

![]() |

"Wha... argh!"
Dimak wakes up, his head still dizzy.
"There should be rations for another two days... did you already eat everything?!"
He gets up and starts looking for the crate with the rations.

![]() |
After a wonderful night with a wonderful woman, Ayaki was rudely woken up by the sounds of the goblins from the next room. He cursed his job, got up, dressed up, gave the barmaid a kiss and told her to stay in bed and rest as long as she wanted. Then he went over to the other room, opened the doors and looked at all the goblins, seemingly a bit annoyed, but understanding of their situation.
"Okay okay. Look... I'll get you something to eat. If you promise to be quiet and let the other people in the inn sleep, I'll get you something better to eat."
Holding true to his promise, he then walked downstairs and first of all excused himself for the loud noises from upstairs, which hopefully stopped by now. Then he'd order food for the goblins, his companions, himself, and the barmaid.

![]() |

Dimak is still searching for the rations - with a head that feels twice as big, searching is not very easy - when he hears Ayaki's promises to take care of breakfast.
He stops his search immediately, sits down again and waits until the room stops spinning. Then Dimak puts on his armor, grabs the empty mug(s) and heads down for breakfast.

![]() |

In the short search Dimak finds food for another day, the rest is gone. "We not eat everything, we not stupid. We know there's kitchen downstairs." the goblins answer with a grin. "We heard the party last night, now WE want party! With food."
Ayaki heads downstairs. The inn's breakfast menu is a long list, although they offer eggs, ham, sausages and potatoes. Also bread, soup and fish. Fresh fruits or vegetables are not on the list. "Good day, Sir." the innkeeper greets Ayaki. "I hope the night was joyful in every way." The innkeeper smiles. Then he sees Dimak coming downstairs as well. "Also good day to your, Sir. You almost broke the drinking record. Two more mugs and you would have made it." He sees that Dimak is not feeling so good and offers him some peppermint tea. "Here, this makes your head free. Smell it, taste it, and you will feel better."

![]() |
Ayaki smiled at the innkeeper and grinned slightly, nodding as he said "Oh, I've had a lovely night. Thank you for everything" He even gave a little wink and chuckled even as he heard that Dimak almost broke the record. Sensing impending doom, he quickly said "Dimak, we'll come back here one day, then you can break the record. But not today."
The kitsune then turned to the innkeeper once more. "I'll need eggs, sausages, and bread, please. About... fifteen plates. Actually, just make... like... two plates, one with two portions and one very big plate with one and a half dozen portions. Please."

![]() |

Dimak ignores the talk related to drinking records.
Actually, he ignores the whole conversarion - he just sits there, holding his head in his hands.
"Here, this will help!"
The innkeeper puts a big cup with hot liquid in front of Dimak.
"Thanks", Dimak grunts, inhaling the steam with his eyes closed.
When Ayaki finishes his breakfast orders, Dimak adds quickly: "And another plate with 2 portions for me."

![]() |

Once you've bribed the Goblins with food to stay calm and had breakfast yourselves, you leave the inn and head towards Rimetusk's ferry. The docks are not too far from the inn, but already out of town. From afar you see Rimetusk arguing with a man with some crates who want to pass the river. Once you get closer you hear them.
"But, I want to sell these goods down south. They are not needed here and I have to feed my family." the man says. "But what do I have from letting you pass?" Rimetusk asks. After a few more sentences you see that the man hands Rimetusk coins. "That's much more than last time." you hear the man complain.

![]() |

Dimak calls out to the troll: "Ho, Rimetusk! I hear you like wrestling - wanna try against me?"
Did we rest long enough to recover hitpoints? If yes, Dimak is at full hp again.

![]() |

"I am Dimak Doomhammer and I have never wrestled with a troll before, that's why! They say you are strong... but are you strong enough to defeat me?"

![]() |
Ayaki went back up to his room and shared the two portions of breakfast with the barmaid, but before long he packed up and said his thanks, leaving the tavern to move through the town and continue their mission.
Arriving at the ferry, he smiled as he saw Rimetusk but let Diman talk to him, standing only a bit behind the dwarf and giving Rimetusk a little wave and a smile.

![]() |

Amun, awoken by the loud Goblins simply flat on his bedroll while the others seemingly managed the entire thing. After a few more minutes of rest, approximately the same time Dimak could walk without falling over, Amun also got up and dressed.
The silent Sylph kept true to his person and kept silent almost the entire morning without saying a word. His appreciation for breakfast could be seen by a thankful smile directed at Ayaki and his amusement over Dimaks situation could also be taken from his grins and silent chuckles.
The first thing Ayaki heard him say were at the ferry. He shifted closer to Dimak as if to make clear that he supports him but, with his mouth covered by his scarf, Ayaki could hear Amuns. The voice of the Sylph was seemingly carried by the wind as the Kitsune could hear:
"Well... We finally will see the continuation of last nights brawls. Stay close to the goblins, we may need to hurry over.
Sorry for the delays!

"Well, Rimetusk? Words failing you or what? Gonna chicken out?"
Intimidate: 1d20 - 2 ⇒ (15) - 2 = 13

Rimetusk finishes counting the coins he just collected. "You do you call a chicken?!" Rimetusk grunts and shows his tusks. He looks around to watch out for more customers who want to cross the river.
"Well, it seems I've got time to do some training. I saw you in the inn last night, you were heavily drunk." Rimetusk laughs. "You are lucky, the more alcohol the less pain you feel, dwarf."
duel one of them even after an attempt to Bluff or use
Diplomacy has failed. Rimetusk agrees to a wrestling
match with one PC (no weapons or natural weapons to be
used on either side). If a PC can pin him CMD 20, Rimetusk lets
the party pass without further hindrance. Failure to win has no negative consequences other than the troll’s laughter and taunting boasts of his
prowess. If a PC interferes with the wrestling match or
uses weapons against the troll, Rimetusk immediately
attacks that PC.
The goblins hear that a wrestling match is about to start and cheer. "Go, Dimak! You make it! Rimetusk loves coins, no fights, look at his wibbly wobbly legs. Haha."

"Let's do this!"
Dimak goes into barbarian rage. higher CMB (+9), a bit lower CMD (17) due to reckless abandon
He tries to grab the troll...
Grapple + CMB: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (6) + 9 = 15 vs Rimetuak's CMD 20
...but the troll is more evasive than he looks. Dimak cannot get hold of him.
"Hold still, dammit!"
rage rounds: 1

![]() |

Dimak tries again...
Grapple + CMB: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (14) + 9 = 23 vs Rimetusk's CMD 20
...this time anticipating the evasive maneuvers.
"Ha! Gotcha!"
rage rounds: 2
Edit:
Both Dimak and Rimetusk have now the grappled condition (which alters CMD due to the -4 penalty to DEX).
Dimak has a +4 dodge bonus vs. giants to AC (which can be added to CMD).
Therefore, his CMD vs. Rimetusk was 21 and is now 19 (-2 Dex).

![]() |

"Oh, you are stronger than I thought, dwarf!" the troll answers. He seems to enjoy the fight and attempts to turn around the grapple.
CMB vs. DC17: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (3) + 6 = 9 fail
The troll shakes his body and tries to get beneath Dimak's shoulders to turn around the grappling situation, but the troll is too big for that.
Edit: thanks for the clarification, 9 is too low in any case :)

Dimak tries to get the troll in a stronger hold.
Pin + CMB + controller: 1d20 + 9 + 5 ⇒ (12) + 9 + 5 = 26 vs Rimetusk's CMD 18(?)
Suddenly, the dwarf moves halfway under Rimetusk and throws him over his shoulder, quickly pinning him down.
"There! Do you give up?"
rage rounds: 3

![]() |

Dimak pushes the hulky troll over his should as the troll were just a bag of flour. You hear a cracking noise and another grunt from the troll. The goblins cheer. You realize that people that were passing by stopped to see the fight. They are amused, but when the troll looks up they quickly move on and pretend to see nothing.
"You are a good wrestler, dwarf." he says and gets up from the ground. "What are you going to do now? Have more ale?"

![]() |

Dimak smiles.
"Really, you are not too bad yourself. Unfortunately, ale has to wait. I - we, actually - need to cross the Rimeflow river. And the goblins are with me, too. I take it that there is enough room for all of us on the ferry?"
rage ended, rage rounds used: 3/11, fatigued: 1/6 rounds

"Thanks."
Dimak gestures to Amun, Ayaki and the goblins to get on the ferry.
"Let's go!"

pushing a bit :)
Dimak boards the ferry, followed by Ayaki, the goblins and Amun. The goblins look a bit frightened when they step on the "floating thing on water". About ten minutes later the ferry departs and another ten minutes later you reach the other side. Rimetusk the troll rushes you from board. "Have a nice day, thanks for the party yesterday and the nice wrestle lesson before. You have my respect, dwarf." the troll says before he starts collecting coins from people waiting to cross the Rimeflow River towards Harvest's End.
You are almost free and clear of Irrisen. With the Rimeflow miles behind you, you’re ready to turn west to cross over into Hagreach, the easternmost portion of the Lands of the Linnorm Kings, and you final destination of Trollheim. The planned route through a stretch of wooded land is intended to keep you out of sight from the wandering patrols of either nation.
Natural trails wind through these woods, allowing passage through the thickets and shrubs. Even in the daytime, the forest canopy filters all but dim light. A sudden opening reveals a little house, no larger than a small child’s tree fort, built atop bundled tree branches lashed together like stilts or legs. The woodwork on the exterior of the house is exquisite, almost delicate in its craftsmanship. The only entrance to this small, one room structure is an open doorway facing west. The hut stands 10 feet off the ground.

Seeing the goblins hesitate, Dimak shouts: "Come on, guys, we don't have all day! If that thing can carry a troll it surely won't break from your little weights!"
While going off board Dimak replies: "You too, Rimetusk. Next time I'm here we can have another match if you like!"

Dimak takes the lead again, walking in front of the group.
When coming across the little house, Dimak stops and gestures towards it.
"Hold on for a second. This looks fairly unusual - let me give this a closer look..."

"What are you talking about? It's just a stupid doll!"
Dimak steps in front of the goblin, standing in his line of sight to the doll, preventing him from looking at it.
"Now move!"

With the city fading behind them Amun relaxes a bit. Upon arrival at the Sylph tenses a bit up as Dimak speaks of the doll.

"Pfff... as if such a doll would be the eyes of Baba Jaga. I've heard much worse rumors about her and her dolls. She uses childs hair as threads and the nails of her lovers as needles...." Amun whispered with a hand held before his mouth before he bursts into laughter.
"Come on guys, lets keept it moving. The doll will surely not follow us, so best would be to get as far away as soon as possible, right?
The sorcerer then simply continues to walk on.

The porcelain crone’s eyes are scrying devices that allow the white witches of Irrisen to observe the entire length of their border through the eerie sentinels’ views.

Dimak knows that the quartz itself is a rare one, worth 1.000gp.

You move on, leave Irrisen behind and cross into the easternmost region of the Lands of the Linnorm Kings, a barren and well defended land called Hagreach. The map indicates a Blackraven way station along the trackless route to Trollheim where you may rest and recuperate before the last leg of your journey.
The woods open to a clearing where a large, grass-covered mound, like a small oblong hill, dominates the area. A stout wooden door is set directly into the side of the mound, while a thin trail of smoke rises from the very top. Immediately to the south is a wooden horse stable, all of its doors closed.

As none of his comrades seem to care, Dimak takes his dagger and cuts the quartz free. He wraps it in a spare piece of cloth - very carefully not touching it with his bare hands - and puts it in his backpack.
"Maybe I'll find someone at the Society who is interested in this stone..."

"Ah, this must be the Blackraven way station. I could do with a warm meal and a few pints before resting..."

entrance and greets you warmly. "Welcome, I'm Enrik Ironjaw. You reached the Blackraven waystation. Trollheim's castellan advised us of your arrival. You may secure the goblins in the storage room. Follow me." Enrik says and leads the way into the longhouse.
Dimak does not see anything suspicious.

![]() |

"Greetings, Enrik! My name is Dimak Doomhammer and these are my comrades Amun Smokewind and Ayaki Whitetail."
Dimak shakes Enrik's hand.
"Thanks for the offer - we'll definitely take it. You do have some rations here taht we can buy, don't you? Those little buggers surely can eat... Also, I wouldn't say no to a stew or some meat myself - as long as I can wash it down with some ale!"
And with that Dimak herds the goblins into the longhouse. At the door he turns around and shouts:
"Amun! Ayaki! Stop dragging your feet! Let's go inside!" ;-)

At the table you see a chaplain sitting and eating roasted turkey.
