As Brutus moves forward the massive creatures strikes out with its head, impaling him.
Somehow, he manages to get hold of the creature!
OA, pa: 1d20 - 5 ⇒ (16) - 5 = 11
Damage: 5d10 + 14 + 15 ⇒ (1, 4, 9, 6, 9) + 14 + 15 = 58
I was initially going to try and trip you on the way in then I checked its Int, its a bit stupid for that so regular OA it is.

Sure, I'll add it. FYI it's currently 45 vs grapple.
With Brutus holding the beast at bay, the archon lifts itself from the ground and takes to the air again.
Archon: Move to stand up. Move to move away.
Lenny 236648

OK immediate action for Hero's Defiance again, then free action for Boots of Speed, then 5' step forward and full attack. Also a reminder to all, that at last Lenny's buffs are up again. Weal's Champion has faded, but Flagbearer is up again for +2 morale to attack/damage (and charm/fear saves). Looks like I am up to 23/114 HP.

Swift and 1 focus from my Transmutation implement to use the Sudden Speed focus power, giving me a bonus 30 feet to my movement for 1 minute.

Damage Power Attack, Flagbearer: 1d10 + 17 + 9 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 17 + 9 + 2 = 29
| GMAndrewW |
Lenny, you are on 41HP with the mass cure spell
Lenny lays into the creature, striking it twice, the second blow carves off a huge chink of bark and it bellows like a wounded mastodon. Sarek moves in and, its movements limited somehow by Brutus he is able to land a telling blow.
It takes 87 damage
Wounded as it is it remains dangerous. With a mighty heave it drives him away, sending him crashing to the ground.
Awesome blow vs Brutus: 1d20 ⇒ 14
Damage: 5d10 + 15 ⇒ (1, 3, 1, 6, 4) + 15 = 30
Awesome Blow knocks you back 10', breaking the grapple and leaving you prone.

Roary strikes twice and the massive plant creature slowly topples over and stops moving.
COMBAT OVER!
In the quiet aftermath of the battle a qadiran man emerges from the trees.
Daxter, feel free to introduce yourself. If you have any buff spells active please add them to the buff spreadsheet. While we have started I think you still have the chance to choose three aid characters. For the rest of you, decide what you want to do about healing. Lenny, for ease I assume you sever life links rather than trying to take it all on yourselves unless that is what you want to do. We now have 5 other PCs so someone will not be linked, let me know who. I will move us on tonight, in about 6 hours. Don't worry, the next bit is not a combat encounter. I assume you take 5 minutes or so searching about, healing up and catching your breath. There is no loot to be found.
Daxter, please roll you false life, Brutus, roll for another set of aid spells from the archon.
Brutus 72|159

With the group healed you push on into the forest, searching for the crater.
If you cast any new buff spells as you leave this area please include them on the sheet. I have deleted everything which has expired or been exhausted.
After several minutes of hacking your way through trails which seem to disappear behind you faster than you can create them you stumble out into a clearing. Signs of a pitched battle are obvious. The twisted, corrupt vegetation has been burned, and the smell of a recent fire floats through the air. Immediately to the north, an outcropping of rock rises a dozen feet over the carnage.
Startled by your appearance are about half a dozen orcs, busily cleaning corrupt tree sap from their scimitars. Sarek, Lenny and Daxter spot that several of them wear Sarenrite symbols woven into their armour or weapons.
A large orcish woman in heavy armour steps up and asks, in decent common, Who are you and what are you doing here? She seems rather suspcious of you and grips her weapon tightly.
Perception, Brutus: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (10) + 8 = 18
Perception, Roary: 1d20 + 18 ⇒ (2) + 18 = 20, Heroism +2 morale

"Ah, orcs of Sarenrae. I believe I have seen your clan before. Are you here to face the threat of Tar Baphon as well?"
Diplomacy: 1d20 + 21 ⇒ (13) + 21 = 34
Emberwik
|
Emberwik indeed does have 10-04 Reaver's Roar.
"I am Emberwik, the hero of Roslar's Coffer and slayer of the Red Reaver. My allies and I are here to stop a god slaying demi-lich from escaping."
Lenny 236648
|
Oh yeah, I'd forgotten about the mass CLW, thanks Emberwik! That'll actually put me at 43 HP then thanks to Fey Foundling. And I see your efficient post combat healing post as well. Thanks again! Next time though just a heads up to everyone that I have channels that are useless for offense (only 2d6), but are a nice efficient way to offer out of combat healing when multiple people are injured. Likewise I can boost the efficiency of healing with my Lesser Celestial Totem on my Raging Song (adds caster level to all healing effects) for the cost of bardic music rounds. Lastly and thanks to Fey Foundling I can boost efficiency from wands and other single target healing by taking people's damage via Lifelink and then receiving the healing myself instead since I get +2 healing per die. At this point though, it seems it is already covered and I don't want to muddy the waters or bog things down with retcons.
"Hello! I'm Lenny and we're Pathfinders! Have you seen any bad guys come this way? We're hunting a lich, which is like a super zombie I think." He shrugs. "Anyway, he's undead and has lots of undead friends that want to do bad things. We are here to stop the bad things," he says with a cheerful grin.
Brutus "The Mountain" Ironheart
|
"This man speaks the truth", Brutus rumbles indicating Emberwik. "We are on a quest to plumb the ruins of Gallowspire and put an end to the threat of the Whispering Tyrant's minions. In the goddess's name I swear it."
Auto aid on the diplomacy.
Daxter Bateman

I believe I have all my buffs on the sheet. If the Orcmonkadin would like mage armor, I can oblige.
False Life: 1d10 + 10 ⇒ (1) + 10 = 11
Before meeting the Orcs.
"Well met, I am known as Daxter. The Exchange has contracted me to aid you. I admit it does look that you badly need help. I have been informed as to the situation so we should make haste."
After meeting the Orcs.
"It is as they say. Now may we ask what you all are doing here?"
Diplomacy, Heroism: 1d20 + 20 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 20 + 2 = 27
Roary Flamebearer

"I think my companions have explained who we are and what we are doing here. If you are not looking to hunt Tar Baphon, than what are you doing here? Surely someone wearing that holy symbol Would be open to discussion with fellow slayers of evil.."
He says wiping his own sap from his weapons..
He does not have social skills so..

"I see you are followers of the Dawnflower. While I know that she believes in redemption, Liches and their ilk are beyond that. So we have been tasked to send them to oblivion. Surely you would not be opposed to that."

The woman seems to soften a little at Daxter's words. Very well, come with me she says, leading the group to a rocky outcropping to take shelter from the weather.
My name is Grenir, she pauses and looks at Emberwick, You seem familiar to me, have we met before? Nevermind. We were sent to this infernal place by ou chieftain who has had disturing visions about it. There is something going on in the dungeons below but we could not get close. There is a crater and a trail down over in that direction, she says, pointing to the south west. We scouted the path and the upper dungeon levels but were forced to flee from shapeless monstrosities and several constructs. With what we have learned he we will now return to our Chief and let her know what is happening. She will decide our next course of action. Good luck Pathfinders, I fear you will need it.
Congratulations, you have earned the trust of the Burning Sun orcs and earned another Gallowgarden success. What now?
Emberwik
|
Any additional encounters now or are we expecting to move to the next phase soon? If so, maybe an additional encounter would be fun.
Lenny 236648
|
Awesome! It is nice to be ahead of the curve on these specials. Just to clarify though, were you saying that successes at other tables may move things along? Or that successes we can achieve can move things along? Likewise, you asked what now. Is there something we can do at this point while the other tables catch up?
@Daxter, great to have you aboard and nice job tackling the skill checks so quickly and efficiently!
| GMAndrewW |
OK, I assume you press on into the jungle.
Moving further on, the jungle presses in on you. A little way off, through the trees, you see a pair of huge, grey skinned giant creatures, wrapped in rotting cloths and carrying enormous flails. They seem to object to your presence.
Daxter recognises that these are plague giants. All of their weapons can inflict a virulent plague with an immediate onset which causes dex drain and con damage. You also realise that they can hurl corpses at their enemies which inflicts its disease and explodes in a 10' radius which can nauseate people with its disgustingness. As a reminder all of the trees squares count as difficult terrain for you.

Sorry, this is what I was asking about as far as what we can do. I thought you were saying that we had to wait for the other tables before we could move on to the next encounter. Since we were warned about the danger ahead, can we prebuff this time? It basically would be the same set as before teleport except for the stuff that is still active from before. So See Invis, Heightened Aware (which I am happy to just mark off as expended as I would have used it and it looks like it is moot since I already won initiative), Mirror Image, Bless Weapon on me+Sarek, Divine Favor. Sorry to be a pain.
| GMAndrewW |
No, you dont know when this encounter will occur and get no warning of it. You are pushing through the jungle hoping to find the crater. It actually takes about 15 minutes before this encounter occurs.
Brutus, your mage armour potion has expired, I am happy for that to be reapplied, Daxter can activate a wand, Roary's antitoxin and antiplague have expired. I have struck them out
Lenny 236648

Cool. In that case, and with Daxter's warning, I will draw and chug my Antiplague, then take a 5' step.

Brutus will be taking up Daxter's offer for a mage armor.
Brutus "The Mountain" Ironheart

He offered in this post. It looks like he already updated the buff spreadsheet.
Daxter Bateman

Not that it matters currently, but I have do Heroism and Heightened Awareness up on myself. I have a pearl of power 1 so I will use that for the mage armor.
"Plague giants. Their weapons inflict a rather serious plague so I suggest some social distancing. Though they also can throw rotted corpses at that will burst spreading even more disease and understandably will make you nauseous."
After the expositioning, Daxter turns his attention to Teal. "This is a new spell I have been working on. I inflict upon you the curse of the lowly Pugwampi!"
Teal has to make a DC24 Will save versus Pugwampi's Grace. If it fails, it has to roll d20s twice and take the lower result for the next 12 rounds or until it gains some kind of luck bonus. I also moved back a bit.
| GMAndrewW |
@Daxter, for the future do you normally expend heightened awareness on initiative or not?
The Giant shrugs off Daxters attempt to enchant him. Its ally pushes forward and hurls the corpse of a dead human at Lenny. It crashes into him and then explodes in a nauseating mess. Daxter is immune thanks to his life bubble spell and is also out of the area having ducked backwards.
Emberwick, Roary and Sarek both find themselves being violenty sick and are nauseated for one round.

I'd say so. In the first combat I burned thru all 3 of my daily preps of Hero's Defiance, and they were the only reason I didn't die. So I am hoping to refresh my emergency button.
Miracle?? Holy crap. Good to know I guess that our experience was kind by comparison I guess.
