You organize yourselves, and very carefully move down below decks--

--and stop right away.

It is totally flooded in the lower decks.

But the water is calm and clear, and you immediately see what happened to the ship and--
-- what became of Hlavard Grenskuldr!

Wedged into a hole in the side of the Shoreseeker is the head of an enormous sea serpent.
Clutched in its jaws is the body of an Ulfen man wearing-- an ornate gorget!
An axe is firmly embedded in the side of the serpent’s head.

It seems that Hlavard Grenskuldr and the sea serpent killed each other at the same time...

Elsha offers, Maybe? Or it could be not quite dead and recovering from its wounds.

He hangs onto the frame of the stairs, but hangs back from proceeding into the waters as he watches the intrepid goblin move forward.

Be careful Hopper! We shall have to research a swimming or strength mutagen after we're back on our boat.

He quickly trains his arcane eye on the sea serpent head to be sure nothing else is amiss here...

Detect magic with Arcane Sense; Arcana is +7 [T]

King in Thorns slideshow!

Aye, Hopper is correct: the sea serpent IS dead, and the gorget CAN be safely recovered.

Elsha sees that the gorget is magic.

As you see Hopper pulling out a bathing cap and Goblin speedos...

To collect the body and the gorget, a PC must first Swim to the serpent-- which does not require a skill check but does require the PCs to hold their breath for 1 round.
Then--? you shall see.

King in Thorns slideshow!

The Sea Serpent is truly huge, and it rammed its head right through the thick oak side of the ship.
It seems like the body is still outside, yes.

As Granitt swims, he finds things out about his armor--

You have chainmail correct?
• 1 • Chainmail has the Flexible trait.
This means that the armor is flexible enough that it doesn’t hinder most actions. You don’t apply its check penalty to Acrobatics or Athletics checks
• 2 • Chainmail has 16 noted under Strength. Meaning that if you have 16 or more Strength (and you have 18) you do not apply the Armor Check Penalty, and you reduce the -5 ft. penalty by 5 to no penalty at all.
• 3 • But, Chainmail has the Noisy trait, meaning this armor is loud and likely to alert others to your presence. The armor’s check penalty applies to Stealth checks even if you meet the required Strength score (which is 16 and more)
All in all: you do not apply the Armor Check Penaly to anything but Stealth (clink clink) and you do not lose 5 feet of movement.

--but, even without being hindered by the armor, he does not manage to pry the jaws open.
Nearly... but no.

Granitt's Day:

HPs 4/23

Reflex save 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (8) + 3 = 11

With injuries he has already taken, the blood and bruises in his neck, Granitt's reflexes are slowed and he is unable move out of the way of the razor sharp fin. He let's out a cry as it cuts deep into his leg, "Arrgghh!, Its got me, I...I'm hurt." Despite the pain, the dwarf sees an opening in the creatures defences and slashes at it once more with his battle axe. With the effort of the attack, he cries out once more "If I'm to fall, I'll leave you a gift that draws your blood!" The dwarf staggers with the wounds that have been inflicted on him, he barely is able to raise his axe, with the effort of the strike.

Reaction: AoO as it moves out of a threatened square - strike with battleaxe 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (13) + 7 = 20 damage 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8

"Say one thing for Hopper, say that he can hop."
The goblin is nearly hit with the whole impact of the slime body but nearly is not enough.

Goblin follows the old and cunning ways of fighting cultivated by his ancestors: stabbing the sea serpent with his poisonous dagger

Damage, piercing: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3 If hit the serpent is poisoned with Giant Centipede Venom DC17 fortitude save.

Then the Hopper steps back and pulls another acid vial and tosses it at the dragon. Goblin fighting a dragon! Power of mind over power of muscles. But Hopper is fully aware that the power of the mind can be beaten when a safe distance is not maintained.

He hopes away to safety and pulls out his second acid flask and tosses it at the serpent

Attack vs olive: 1d20 + 6 - 5 ⇒ (12) + 6 - 5 = 13
Damage: 1 acid + 1 splash acid +1d6 persistent acid damage, Hopper limits the splash to only serpent

Action economy:

Sorry Stabby, I must have not noted it down and then forgotten. Apologies.

Granitt decides to not avoid the spikes in order to slash out at the beast--
But I do not believe you have AoO - it is a level 6 Feat for Champions and Barbarians.
You should use whatever Champion Strike reaction you have, though.

Hopper hops-- avoiding most of the damage, and kills the serpent with his stab.
Then tosses the vial at the other snake, splashing it with acid for some damage.

Stabby is hurt by the spines-- but remains there without reacting for a second, licking his lips from having been drenched in that algae-water.
It seems he does not have his wits about him, and he--
--attacks wildly!
He does not care about how he defends himself-- you are flat-footed

Stabby looks at Granitt-- what an UGLY beard!
Then he checks Elsha out-- what a STUPID named!
1 is Gr: 1d2 ⇒ 1
"I HATE YOUR BEARD!", Stabby yells out.
His eyes are blood red and he seems to be hallucinating.

Stabby: may you please make three Strikes (attacks) against Granitt, with your best stabs.
And then roll another Fortitude Save please?

Cleary out of his mind, Stabby starts knifing Granitt, and lands a blow with his second dogslicer attack--
22-4 Agile = 18, is a hit, correct?

--dropping the Dwarf to the deck.

10 damage brings out to 0 hp, dying 1, right?

@Stabby another Fortitude save, please?

The sailors call out: "Now they're fighting amongst themselves!"

• I need to see what Granitt is doing before w. his reaction
• if 18 is indeed the figure and a hit?

Granitt was concentrating on the other sea serpent, so wouldn't have reacted. Like I say, still getting use to this, should have reacted at the first crit attack ... but oh well!!... even so, would still have gone down with that attack from Stabby. Although if I used Retributive Strike, Stabby would have reduced damage from the sea serpent by 3HPs, and I would have been able to strike it if it was within reach. So depends when Stabby got the damage from the spikes.

As Granitt is attacked in the back by Stabby, he lets out a cry of surprise and falls to the ground.
