Adelaida Lehner
Adelaida is happy to chit chat with Talther, and to learn a little more about the man the myth, the legend?
She's obviously used to stand watch, as a soldier, and do her job without complaining.

Is the -20 for it being night? Because if so V has Darkvision.
Valghaz bragging about standing watch, in color!
Valghaz kept watch as best he could. He knew that their job was dangerous, so trouble was a very real possibility...
Excellent question, but no the -20 was not for needing night vision.

They’re between your tent and the cattle pens, about 60 or so feet away, how ever far a townsman could throw a rock accurately enough to hit a large tent. There’s about 5 or 6 of them milling around. Even with night vision, 20 yards in the dark is about all you can see well.

”Don’t ye fookin’ dare ye idiots! I’ve got a shovel with all of yer names on it, and I’ll beat the shyt out of all of ye if ye throw one more thing.” Valghaz called out. Though truth be told if any threw actual feces at them he was willing to just kill. He figured that at just 60 feet away all he had to do was pick one out. They couldn’t see in the dark, so it’d be simple enough to run the man down.

There's definitely a smaller figure behind the rock throwers that is yelling in a woman's voice. "Give the loud mouth another round, boys!" A volley of rocks targets Valghaz and a couple actually connect, doing no real damage but they do hurt when they hit. "We'll be back loud mouth," the woman yells as the Intimidated group backs out of sight.

Anyone that is outside of the tent, make a Difficult (-20) Perception Check.
Valghaz Ironhammer
Does my 3 Perception count for that test then?
”Cowards! Come back here and fight! I’ve seen goblins braver than ye! I’d piss on yer ancestors, but they aren’t even worthy of that!” Valghaz roared, clearly incensed. He was throwing out the most vile insults he knew.
Talther Augenlos
Hearing the ruckus, Talther bounds outside, seeking the source of the rocks and insults.
"Cowardly wretches!", he yells into the night!

Sure, I took it to be to look for the woman but you can use it for the other if you want.

Seeing a figure sneaking towards the coach, Valghaz turned with murder in his eyes. He started moving towards the figure and motioned to Talther to look, and to go around the other way to flank. Once he saw the figure notice him, he planned to charge, and was more than ready to run the sneak-thief to ground. Despite his slow speed, he was confident that a longer legged human would still be slower due to their inability to see where they were going.

It’d be an opposed Dramatic test of the target’s perception against your stealth, being dark makes it a hard test (-20) for the target. Talther, having no night vision will have a harder time sneaking without making noise so his stealth test is also a hard (-20) test.
Dramatic Perception Test to notice Valghaz (-20): 1d100 ⇒ 7 Success with SL +1
Dramatic Perception Test to notice Talther (-20): 1d100 ⇒ 64 Failure with SL -5
Valghaz rolled a 26 which is a Failure with SL +0
Talther rolled a 14 which is a Success with a SL +0
Inadvertently executing the plan perfectly, Valghaz makes enough noise to alert the intruder which completely distracts him from Talther who is surprisingly stealthy. Talther is able to get close enough to touch the intruder who he can see is a slight teenaged boy with a small handsaw.
Darkest Doomed
Only now beginning to rise due to the noise, Landolf raises his head. "What is going on?" he asks to no one apparent as he stands and reaches for his foil.
Valghaz Ironhammer
Seeing Talther put a hand on the boy, Valghaz marveled at how the plan had come together despite...well...everything. It was enough to create a masterful illusion of competence.
The boy was lucky that Valghaz hadn’t gotten there first. With pick in hand he had been more than willing to kill.

The teenage boy visibly deflates as he's confronted by the two hardened killers. "Let me go you bullies, I ain't done nuttin to eithers of you'se."

Hearing Landolf, Valghaz stopped. ”Oi! Sir Landolf! Got us a would-be noble killer over here! Bunch of rabble threw rocks and shouted anti-nobility shyt while this one crept over with a weapon. Ye want to talk to him or shall we just kill him now?”
He truly hoped that Landolf would come soon and give the boy a way out by talking. From what little he had seen of the Empire, there were only three things of any power. Titles, money and strength...and he wasn’t sure of the order. But what he did know was that they had two out of three and could potentially fake the third. With any luck this would put some serious fear in the boy. Maybe even get him to tell his plan out of the hope of escaping punishment for a worse crime.

Talther decides to remain quiet for now in an effort to keep his wits focused on his environs.

Landolf comes out of the tent and shakes his head. Still waking up, he can't see much.
Valghaz was saying that the kid was trying to murder Landolf. I don't see anything in the thread to suggest that though? What did the kid have on him?
Valghaz Ironhammer
Sneaking over with a saw. I know he wasn’t trying to do that. But the idea is that if the kid thinks he is in trouble for a serious crime, he might just outright admit to a lesser one. Which I suppose requires some sort of check?
Whatever test to make the kid think he is actually going to be in trouble for trying to kill a noble: 1d100 ⇒ 6

I'm not sure what skill that would be, seems like the best might be intimidation versus intuition (scary trouble vs I think you're a liar testing)?
Valghaz's intimidate test versus lad's intuition test
Valghaz rolled a 6 which is a success with SL +4

The kid starts crying and would fall to the ground if he wasn't help up by Talther. "Ain't trying to kill nobody, just a trick that they gave me some coins to do. Weren't even really going to hurt the stupid coach, just cut a bit through the rear round wood thing that joins them tires together, you know, the watcha'ma'callit, the axen."
At this point the kid will answer honestly...
