Cultist 5 Attacks Ruprecht

Cultist 5 Attack (30): 1d100 ⇒ 12 Success and with Advantage +2 is SL +4

Ruprecht rolled a 10 on his weapon skill check which is a success with a SL +2

Cultist 5 won the Opposed Check with SL +2

Damage Location is Left Arm

Damage caused is 6 + 2 - 3 - 1 = 4 Wounds

Ruprecht's defense is thrown off by the multitude of tiny screaming faces that have sprouted on the mutant. He takes a painful jab to his left arm from the Gaff Hook.

Narbe Ditwin Attack Talther

Narbe Ditwin Attack (30): 1d100 ⇒ 55 A failure and with Advantage +2 is SL +0 AND is a fumble.
Oops Table: 1d100 ⇒ 30 Talther's parry is jarring enough to cause 1 Wound and loosen the grip of Narbe who still shows no gratitude for rescuing him from the fire.

Need Talther Parry and also Talther Attack Rolls

Cultist 7 Attacks Markus

Cultist 7 Attack (30): 1d100 ⇒ 47 A failure with Advantage +2 is SL +1

Need Markus Parry Roll

Talther is up next. Here is the Narbe's Parry Roll

Narpe Parry (30): 1d100 ⇒ 79 Failure with SL -4

While waiting for Talther let's see what Maurer does.

"SIGMAR!" Maurer shots as he picks up a fallen Gaff Hook and attacks the Cultist Leader.

Maurer Attack (55 + 20 For Gang Up Bonus with Valghaz): 1d100 ⇒ 32 Success with SL +4

Cultist Leader Parry (42): 1d100 ⇒ 75 Failure with SL -3

Maurer wins the opposed check with SL +7

Hit Location is Left Arm

Damage is 3 + 5 + 7 - 0 = 15 Wounds

Maurer somehow has found the vulnerability in his opponent's armor and hardened skin, maybe the same way he always finds the perfect location to strike a stone. His blow doesn't just strike his opponent's arm but literally rips the arm off, just like shearing off a piece of marble. In fact, he has replicated what Valghaz had done with a shovel back in the Marketplatz riots so many days ago.

Standing over his fallen foe, Maurer says, "Sigmar will always prevail over you mutant scum."

Narbe's Attack Roll was 55 and with his Advantage +2, his overall SL is +0

Talther's Parry is a 43 which is a success with a SL +0

Talther wins the Opposed Check because his skill is higher. Talther gains Advantage +1 and Narbe loses his Advantage

Talther then attacks the treacherous cur, calling on Sigmar for aid.

Talther's Attack Roll was 21 which is a success with a SL +3 because of the Advantage +1

Narbe's Parry roll was 79 which is a SL of -4

Talther wins the Opposed Skill check with a SL +7 and now has Advantage +2

Hit Location is Left Arm

Damage is 3 + 3 +7 - 3 = 10 Wounds to the weasel Narbe which including the wound the idiot had just giving himself is 11 total wounds.

Markus Dodge is a 2 which is an automatic success and a SL +6 with Advantage

Markus wins the Opposed Test and successfully evades the attack and even better now has Advantage of +3 and the Cultist has lost his Advantage

Dancing, weaving and dodging, Markus continues to shine in the battle, taking down the bad guys and dodging their attacks.

Still to go is Valghaz and Ruprecht. Valghaz his rolls are already done so just need a target picked.

Valghaz turns his wrath on the cultist that has attacked Ruprecht.

Valghaz's attack roll was 33 which is a success with a SL of +6 with his Advantage of +2 and a +20 Gang Up Bonus and it is a critical hit.

Critical Hit Determination
Hit Location 1d100 ⇒ 21 Left Arm
Hit Effect 1d100 ⇒ 46 The blow opens a deep, gaping wound. Causes 3 wounds immediately. Gain 2 Bleeding Conditions. Until you receive Surgery to stitch up the cut, any associated Arm Damage you receive will also inflict 1 Bleeding Condition as the wound reopens.

Cultist 5 Parry (30): 1d100 ⇒ 33 Failure with SL of +3 due to Advantage +3

Valghaz wins the Opposed Check with SL difference of +3. Valghaz now has Advantage +3 and Cultist has 0 Advantage

Hit Location - Left Arm (Critical Hit location supersedes original result)

Damage caused is 5 + 4 + 3 - 3 = 9 wounds + 3 wounds from critical is 12 wounds and Cultist 5 is down

Coming to the aid of his injured comrade, Valghaz rips open a gaping wound in the arm of the mutant covered in tiny screaming faces. While a moment ago, the faces had been screaming in triumph as Ruprecht was wounded, now the faces are screaming in fear and pain. As blood squirts into the air from an obviously severed artery the mutant woman falls to her knees and then face down. The multitude of tiny faces all go blank.

Ruprecht sees a chance to deal a death blow to that low down no good cur Narbe who's being beaten down by Talther.

Ruprecht Attack Roll is 47 which is a success due to the +20 Gang up bonus with a SL +1

Narbe's Parry (30): 1d100 ⇒ 88 Failure with SL -5

Ruprecht wins the Opposed Check with a total SL +6. Ruprecht gains Advantage +1

Hit Location=74=Body

Damage is 4 + 3 + 6 -3 = 10 Wounds and a total of 21 Wounds

Ruprecht sneaks up behind Narbe and skewers his sword deep into his body. The ungrateful wretch falls to the dock dead.

Seeing their leader cut down by Maurer, the three remaining cultists break and make a run for it fading back into the fog from which they came. With the retreat of the cultists, the fog dissipates, Morrslieb’s light fates and the sky in the east lightens.

Technically, the remaining cultists would have been open to a free attack from those they are engaged with but it doesn't advance the story to add another round of combat

Someone can make a Dramatic Heal Skill Test to help Landolf. You heal your SL plus your Intelligence Bonus in Wounds.

Maurer spits on the cultist leader, "this man was always trying to get me to renounce Sigmar but I would never betray Sigmar and now I've had the pleasure of killing the bastard."

"Enough talking Maurer, drop the weapon," Fassenwütend says as she brandishes her pistol in Maurer's face. "You still have a date with the headsman. You aren't going to be saved by Sigmar today."

Is the group going to do anything to try to stop the execution?

With the Sun illuminating the dock you all have a good look at what you've been fighting. Mutants! It wasn't just some weird effect of the fog, they're really mutants. But, but that shouldn't be possible. Sigmar wouldn't tolerate mutants, would he? What can explain this?

Landolf thanks Valghaz for the assistance, although his chest hurts terribly and tries to stand. He finds that he is too weak to do so and stumbles before climbing to hit feet on a second effort.

"We're at your service Frau Fassenwütend, but this man's story had more to it than I suspected. Perhaps we should hear him out first. It could be Sigmar's will that he avoid this death after all. Sigmar seems to be on our side today, as did Maurer."

"If you hear him out and still want to see him hang, I'll help you get him there. If I can," Landolf says, wincing from the pain.

If our GM calls for a Charm check for that argument, Landolf will aid whoever tries to Charm her first.

Fassenwütend sighs, "Maybe you were right...we'll see...but I do keep my word. Besides, the prisoner's faith in Sigmar was so strong, he resisted the call of Chaos not only tonight, but multiple times.

Landolf still badly needs help with a Heal check to bandage his ribs. If someone doesn't make an Average (+20) Heal check to fix him up, he'll have to make an Endurance check to avoid permanently losing Agility. Talther said he was assisting Valghaz but it might be better to have people assist someone that had Fortune remaining?

Markus probably has the best Heal check. If Talther & Valghaz aid, the roll should probably be 81 I think?

Assuming you all are done with Endeavours, shopping and spending XP. If not just say so.

You have all become fond of the Bridge House tavern where Road Warden Fassenwütend has been staying during her month long recovery from the wounds inflicted by the cultists. Its become a habit to get together as a group once a week with Fassenwütend for dinner and drinking. Its been a good way for you all to stay in touch and keep tabs on each other. Even better Fassenwütend has been covering the party's bar tab on your weekly gathering, "I'll charge it as an expense to the Road Wardens, they owe you all that much."

During the month, you have also become fond of Gunther Abend, who is feted for the service he provides as the owner of the Bridge House. You can't help but notice that there are far fewer customers at the Bridge House this evening than there was last week. Gunther confides in you that he's been having some difficulties lately. "I'm from Altdorf originally and I have welcomed the Imperial troops in the tavern. It's nothing more than normal hospitality but now people are spreading rumors that I facilitated the invasion."

As dinner breaks up, Road Warden Fassenwütend lets you all know that this will be the last dinner for a while as it is time for her to get back to the roads. So, no more freebies.

Bidding goodnight to Fassenwütend and Gunther you step outside into a dark and stormy night. The weather has turned nasty the last week and now people seem to be getting cranky.

Then you see up ahead, a group of rough-looking individuals pushing and shoving a man around. The group consists of four men who are being encouraged by a petite young woman with blonde hair. They all shout at the man, accusing him of offering aid and comfort to the Altdorfers.

The man cowers from the tugs, who feign outrage, accusing him of trying to attack them before laying into him hard with vicious punches and kicks.

Talther has had a good month.

It has been weeks since he handed back the watch uniform and other paraphenalia, and he sore missed the rungo. So, after some bargaining, he found one just as stout in the markets of Ubersreik.

He found employment even as the sun shone and his heart gladdened. Not to mention the kudos of being one of the mighty Trollslayers!

Talther also found himself remaining fond of the chance company that he had fought and bled with.

"We ought to find a venture to work on together! Our skills and drive could lead us to high places indeed, my friends!"

*********************

Hearing of their favoured innkeepers woes, Talther replies:

"Friend Gunther, that will not stand! We shall have to try and sway folk to get back in here!"

*********************

Bugger! The weather has taken a bad turn! Reminds me of that night by the docks, when we worked out about the bloody troll...

Then he sees the confrontation and before he can move much, see it degenerate into a one-sided and unjust beatdown.

Talther advances towards the group, his rungo now gripped tight in his right hand, and shouts!

"Ruffians, cease and desist, lest I give you a taste of hardwood!"

Landolf finds himself in good cheer after the last month. His ribs felt better after the abuse the mutants had put him through and he had found a good deal of time to relax in the good weather that followed. The events of that terrible night were not forgotten, but they seemed distant and his nightmares had grown more infrequent. "Aye, that was a tight spot we found ourselves in. I don't know that we ever would have found much reason to meet otherwise, but we got through that mess because we were able to pull together. If we could accomplish what we did in the watch with the threat of execution hanging over us, think what we could do now that we're free men again!"

***

Outside the tavern, Landolf forgets briefly that he's no longer a member of the Watch. He reaches for the side sword that is no longer there and feels his foil instead, but leaves it alone. Instead, he attempts to display a willingness to use his fists to resolve the situation.

Landolf can't mechanically assist the Intimidate check since he has not advances, but he'll act like he's doing so.

GM: we never rolled for the exact number of days that Landolf needed to recover from his cracked ribs. Is that fully done?

Valghaz felt pretty snazzy in his leather armor and with his very own pick. Granted he was nearly broke again, but that was temporary. What he needed was to find a steady source of good income. And luckily he now has friends who were competent. He was certain that things would turn around.

He stood next to Talther was his arms crossed, looking at the thugs with a disinterested look on his face.

”Y’know pretty light on coin at the moment. Think we should kick their arses and nick their coin as compensation for them wasting our time?”

You notice that one member of the group, a shortish man with ginger hair and a large bushy moustache, stands aloof from the other thugs and scrutinises them with a beady eye.

"Shut your trap, big nose, before you get hurt. You're another one of them Altdorf lovers and thus a traitor to our people."

A few feet. No need to move to attack.

Initiative or is a surprise attack possible through social distraction?
