When agents of the newest Pathfinder Society lodge in Magnimar learn of a fragmented artifact scattered throughout the lands of old Thassilon, it falls to a new band of heroes to step in and gather up the seven fragments of this Shattered Star.

Excited to be selected.

Look like the GM has selected a well rounded pathfinder group that should be exceptionally talented at skills. I have assembed the following based on what I could gleen from peoples statblocks, but I could have easily missed roles that you intend to fill.

How do we want to handle the NPC's?


I am thinking I will make a google spreadsheet to keep track of contacts.

We will need to keep track of Pathfinder Society Fame and Prestige.

I will link a google sheets presentation for dramatis personae images later today. We can use a page at the start of that document for pictures of PCs if you want to share a link showing an idea of what your character looks like.

Looks like this will be a good group for sneaking and checking for traps.

Hello, thanks for selecting Nocki and Bear, the Koala. I don't know much about PFS, how do this Fame and Prestige work? What's with the NPCs? Is it something about this AP?


Check out the section on the PFS in the player's guide.

As the AP progresses, your rank (if you are doing things right) will increase and you will be able to trade prestige for benefits you need.

Oh, right. I remember that. But I still don't get Sandu's question of handling the NPCs. I mean, aren't NPCs sort of the GM's job?

I'm planning on implementing something close to these rules in the game.

Some of them can come from your backstories, others can be NPCs that you meet in-game.

Jera is primarily geared towards skills, but antiquarian allows him to be a much more effective support caster than a standard investigator, since he's not limited to only casting on himself.

Yeah, I was at first just building a normal investigator, but then I saw the antiquarian archetype, and I thought. "I can't not play this" :)

Sarnakt Crimsonclaw Mikkitar's Rat-Warren's sorceress, a CN/CE leaning magic user who's all about the mutation and perfecting ratkin biology. May not actually be a sorceress, might be some other arcane casting class

He also knows a "Completely Trustworthy and Honest Merchant" by the name of Gregor Skillchamp - a Varisian fence, pawnbroker, Sczarni informant, and all around ne'erdowell.

Finally: Roger Andersen. A Magnimaran City Guardsman who is addicted to <GM's Choice of Chemical>, which Mikkitar and his fellow clan-mates have been able to provide. For a price, of course.

Contacts

Fenull Korridm A mid level Sczarni gang boss, considers Sandu to be his nephew, he is willing to let the kid play at being a priest, but in the end he wants Sandu back in the family.

Kisnov Ilant A Sargent of the city guard in the Lowcleft paying off Sgt. Ilant was one of Sandu's task in his old life.


That's the idea on the contacts.

I think they will come in and out of the story as we progress, but I hope it will add character to the game.

Changed one background skill as I really imagine Nocki with a pipe in his mouth, and knowing his smoking herbs

Nocki only has one contact.

Yasid is a half-elf trader of leaves and herbs in Magnimar. Nocki has become a frequent customer and friend over time. They discuss smoking herbs and Yasid provides Nocki with a special type of leaves, since Nocki's bear cub refuses to eat meat.

Oops, I forgot about background skills entirely. Changed some skills around.
Jera has only been in Magnimar a short while, so he only has 1 contact.
Nara Anendil is a fellow Pathfinder Jera met while in training in Absalom. She's a scholar and a wizard, and helps the society with research and the compiling of information, but is less interested in adventuring herself.

reading on contacts it looks like we should start with one

Given his backstory, a local pathfinder at the Magnimar lodge that was involved in his rescue a while back would be a good contact. Maybe Teodore Filotti, a healer of Saranrae who joined the society to help find and root out undead in tombs who is a local in Magnimar.


I'm flexible on the number, but you probably only get value out of one contact to start with.

The others are just names of people you know and who you can cultivate relationships with.

Yes, you see, Nocki will never admit he bonded with something as cute as that koala bear, so he set in his mind that it's actually a vicious bear cub who will eventually grow into a ferocious beast.

We'll see if they have a solution or if I just 'port everything over to a new game.
