GM Wayfinder |

Welcome to the game!
Here we can start by discussing the party you will be creating.
Have a look at the Gameplay thread (and dot and DELETE if you wish, but do not post there yet).
This will tell you where the action starts.
You will be four players, and I will be your GM.
I will most probably be able to post several times per day regularly, but will post once every day for sure (early in the morning in European time).
This is a game in which you will be playing from levels 1 to 3 (and getting 12 XP of credit, thus one level in PFS).
I will be using the basic PFS rules (150 sp to start with), but since it is a campaign, I will see if we adapt things now and then, but in general I'll stick by default to PFS-style rules.
But you need not be Pathfinders, and there will be no Swords etc. training.
I think it's nice if you start by giving your character ideas so that you can organize and "meta" a bit to cover all skills, and not have two with the same Lores if you wish to diversify etc..
Feel free to PM me with what might be discreet questions.
I would like to be able to PM you during this campaign, for example with results of secret rolls etc., and sometimes avoid spoilers, so tell me if this is okay (and you'll keep an eye on the red dot up above, beside the MY ACCOUNT).
I have no problem with any kind of character.
But please do try and have someone who will be able to somehow function in a group for a relatively long time (ie. a psycopathic Chaotic Evil serial-killer would not be the best fit) so that we can all enjoy the game.
So, start telling me what you want to play. Or PM me.
See with your comrades to be how to change things around.
RP-wise I am open to many things, and you can be friends with the dwarven caravan master, can have worked with him, can be a paid traveler being transported towards some destination, hired as a mule driver for this journey, a Halfling slave fleeing Cheliax...
Let us enjoy this, I hope.

Natsume Ren |

Happy to be a part of this! GM, you absolutely have my permission to blow up my inbox.
Thinking of playing a nomadic Fighter sort (is "human fighter" a little too cliche?), with a big ol' shield. Generally easygoing. Likes a good sparring match, food, company.
That said, if everyone else wants to go Martial, I'm happy to switch to something a little castier or maybe a Paladin!

GM Wayfinder |

Hello, and welcome!
Let us see what the others bring to the gaming table.
Either now, or when you start fleshing the character out, all can think of their possible ties to the dwarf you will be traveling (none needed).
What you are doing in the area etc..

SuperBidi |

Hello everyone!
I have a PFS character who will certainly get the 12 XPs of this adventure, so I was hoping to play her. The adventure would take place before she gets into the Society.
She's a Gnome Scoundrel Rogue who dabbles in magic. A people person, specialized in Charisma-based skills. Other than that, she's quite versatile and should be able to adapt to different parties and fill most gaps.
As for her personality: the bleaching has started for her and to fight it she jumps on any exciting opportunity. Adventure being one of the most thrilling experience you can live, she'll be the first to take off if anything happens. Although she's a bit weird at first glance, she can prove herself quite funny and pleasant when you get to know her!
Our DM already knows her, from a game we played together this week.

GM Wayfinder |

Hello you two!
So, we'd have a human fighter.
A gnome scoundrel rogue (skills/face) trying to alleviate boredom. On her way to Absalom to learn about the Pathfinders?
Another human but cleric of Asmodeus with the Fire domain or druid with animal companion.
So far seems to be no overlap or double-characters.

SuperBidi |

If we get a Wizard, then :)
I would prefer to avoid having 2 Charisma-based characters as it's hard to have 2 party diplomats (especially if they have very different personalities). I would certainly switch if our fourth player is heading towards Bard or Sorcerer.
It's my first PbP on this forums and I don't know how to create my character, someone lends me a hand ?

GM Wayfinder |

So, this is a campaign-style game, and the character you are creating will not be used in other games, thus I think we can keep things simpler.
You can have a look at what the others are doing, like Natsume Ren's character sheet.
To see that, you simply click on the name above her avatar, and it will take you there.
First, of course, you have to probably create an Alias - unless you use the page linked to the character with the Paizo number.
Is that step of the process okay for you, or do you need more explanation?
Then, re. what info' to put down: in this case, as I said, you only need stuff for me and I trust you guys, so I do not need that much.
• the most important for me is a list of your skills noting which are Trained, Expert etc. and your bonuses, since that's what I will be looking at
• spells if you have them
• whatever special Feats you have
• and some equipment list
Basically, the things you imagine I might need to use from time to time.
Normally people put a lot, also to track your character when you move from game to game and GM to GM. As I said, in this case, since you'll only be playing this character (I mean, with these stats, skills, gear etc.) with me, it can be simpler.
Also you put things in the lines under your avatar (using the Race ; Class/Levels ; Gender entries) where you put things like your HP, AC etc..
Does someone have the links to the template for PF2 for what to put under the avatar?
Otherwise there is this:
LINK TO CLICK
That comes from here:
MAIN LINK
One thing: since what you can carry is more of an issue in PF2, and it is one of my quirks to always have loved to track encumbrance (sorry!), please keep track (for yourselves) of what you carry and if you are overburdened etc. (stuff like Healing Kits, Crafting Kits, Magic Books do weigh Bulk).

![]() |

Here is an example of what I put under my avatar.
And if you click on the name Milady, you will see my character sheet.
This is really made to move from game to game, and I track a lot of stuff (probably major overkill) so no need to do all that at all for me here.
Finally, I put in things like this--
+6 Perception (+1 Level +4 Expert +1 Wis)
[dice= Perception (Expert)]1d20+6[/dice
--all over, for my Skills and Saves and Attacks etc., simply because it saves me time and, mainly, enables me to copy/past when I am on my phone where it is more tedious for me to prepare the roll.
Do you know the main coding things for posting here?
[b]for BOLD[/b
[b]for Italics[/b
[spoiler=BLA BLA]bla bla[/spoiler
[dice=Axe, slashing]1d20+9[/dice

SuperBidi |

First, of course, you have to probably create an Alias - unless you use the page linked to the character with the Paizo number.
Is that step of the process okay for you, or do you need more explanation?
I think it'll be usefull, too.
What if there are a few things I want to keep for myself? For example, my alignment is not written on my face. Can I just give this information to our beloved DM but keep it hidden for other players?
Well, as I intent to play a Rogue, I'll have a few things I'll prefer to keep secret, even if they won't have much relevance :)

GM Wayfinder |

@Super Bidi:
Yes, as I said, this is a Campaign game, so the sheet will only be for me/us.
(since you start at level 0 and will go on up till you play at level 3)
It is not anything "official" to track your character.
So, just PM me the stuff you want to keep to yourself.
And just don't put it up on your sheet.
So, for an Alias.
Click on My Account (way up on top)
Then, to the left, the third "box" is MESSAGEBOARD ALIASES
You see at the bottom of that you have Create New Alias
Click that on go ahead
You can create a profile w. avatar etc., just that it is not linked to you Paizo number
So it is probably the best for here
Also, you can do Aliases for characters that change (some do an Alias for the Barbarian in rage ; or for a shapeshifting druid etc. ; to have one "normal" profile, and then one alias with the avatar of the animal if it is shapeshifting, and the new relevant info beside the avatar (Rage AC, HP etc.)
@Farol
No rush, I want to finish the game I am DMing before we get started for good here.
So take time to create the characters and discuss this.
Then we can move to RP introductions and meeting etc..
Then get started.

Giggett |

Got it! Thanks!
I now have a stupid issue: It says Grand Archive next to my name and I don't see how to remove it...
I PM you my full character sheet right away.

Natsume Ren |

Go to "My Account," scroll down to "Messageboard Aliases," and click "Edit" next to Giggett's name. Should be a bunch of options for Factions; set it to No Faction or None or whatever the option is there.
For whatever reason, there are like 3 different ways to edit the same Alias :P

Natsume Ren |

Some stuff is intuitive, some stuff is extremely not, and some stuff just comes with practice.
In this case, you need to click on his name so you open his profile, then click "Send Private Message" (which should be just under his name).

Natsume Ren |

Strange. I wonder why that would be-- I'm not seeing an option to send a message to you either. Maybe you never validated your e-mail or something like that?

Natsume Ren |

Ah, found something-- if you go back to your account page and scroll down to "Privacy Settings," there's a box that says "Allow [something] to send me Private Messages." Is that unchecked?

Natsume Ren |

No idea! Might be the case by default (as some people just sign up so they can order products), but I have no idea offhand.

SuperBidi |

@SuperBidi If I make my cleric I will have some diplomacy even if it will not be a charisma based character.
I missed your message.
Yes of course, no issue. It's just that Pathfinder adventures encourage complementarity between characters. When 2 characters have the same specialization it's less funny in my opinion. But it's not a problem when it's one's specialization and the other's secondary ability. You'll help me on Diplomacy checks, I'll help you on Religion ones. It's common knowledge that clerics of Asmodeus love to aid scoundrel rogues diplomacy checks ;)
SuperBidi |

No idea! Might be the case by default (as some people just sign up so they can order products), but I have no idea offhand.
There were also checkboxes about Paizo sending me advertisement emails, so I may have unchecked all boxes without reading them all.
Anyway, it's unchecked, but I have to wait for an administrator to validate it. I hope it'll be quick.

GM Wayfinder |

Also, you have not created a Profile for SuperBidi, maybe that is it? (or not)
Since:
To send someone a private message, go to their profile page and click "Send Private Message."
The best is to add the names you want to correspond with to your address book.
Then you can send from there.re. Diplomacy etc., that is up to you.
The only thing I think you should check is if you have all or most of the skills covered, so as to try and end up without missing Nature or Survival or Society or whatever, to at least have one person who can try rolling stuff.

GM Wayfinder |

By the way, since this is a Campaign, you can take:
• the Plaguestone Backgrounds
• and maybe some the Regional ones too (so long as it fits)
If there is something there you like, tell me.

Natsume Ren |

The only thing I think you should check is if you have all or most of the skills covered, so as to try and end up without missing Nature or Survival or Society or whatever, to at least have one person who can try rolling stuff.
Not a bad idea, especially in a smaller group. Bold is what I've got covered! Let me know what you've got and I'll update the list, or quote it and update it yourself.
Acrobatics
Arcana
Athletics
Crafting
Deception
Diplomacy
Intimidation
Lore (Forest)
Medicine
Nature
Occultism
Performance
Religion
Society
Stealth
Survival
Thievery

Natsume Ren |

In that case...
Acrobatics
Arcana
Athletics
Crafting
Deception
Diplomacy
Intimidation
Lore (Forest)
Medicine
Nature
Occultism
Performance
Religion
Society
Stealth
Survival
Thievery
Bidi, any idea what Lore skill Giggett is trained in? This would be from her Background. (No worries if you haven't selected one yet.)

Natsume Ren |

Fair enough!
I'd expect our caster to have Arcana and if we have everything but Medicine we're likely in half-decent shape anyway.

GM Wayfinder |

As a player, Medicine can be quite important.
A good amount of Healing can come via Medicine...

SuperBidi |

Not much at low level. Without Continual Recovery and Ward Medic, you can only heal one character for 10 minutes of rest for an average of 4.5hps (if you have 12 in Wisdom). And you'll need an hour to resume healing on this character. At that rate, you'd better go back in town and take a good night of sleep.

That's more HP than you'd have had without it! Always a bonus. If no one else has Medicine, I might swap something to pick it up. It's not out-of-character for a nomad-type to know how to stitch up their leg if it gets shanked by a highwayman or something, anyway.

GM Wayfinder |

Do as you guys wish, but with no alchemist, no Medicine skill, you are going to rely on the cleric for all healing?
And At that rate, you'd better go back in town and take a good night of sleep: this is not a PFS scenario, so you do not even know if there is a town to go to.

Natsume Ren |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |

Sure we do! Etran's Folly is listed, like, in the name. I'm sure nothing bad will happen to it.
Right?

SuperBidi |

I was close to answer that, but back away as it's metagaming :)
Anyway, all skills are important. In my opinion, Medicine is more important if we meet poison or disease than for the small amount of hp it can help us get back. But it's always better to cover all skills.
Let's wait for our 2 companions to finish their characters and we will then decide if we change one of our skills or two. I really have a lot of them, so changing one of my skills for Medicine would be very easy for me.

GM Wayfinder |

than for the small amount of hp it can help us get back
In my short experience as both player and GM, Medicine has healed a LOT more than anything else (and that is in PFS where people often start w. a couple free healing potions).
We use a map and minis, that will be in the slides.
I will start the introduction in the Gameplay.
Do not post yet, it is simply to not have it all come in one block, and to give you some info' if needed for your back story.

Farol |

Ok I am back from my vacation and was working on the PC. I will go with a dwarf, I will have the profile ready probably tomorrow. I am experimenting with a few things atm.
BTW. In the middle of January I will be backpacking for 3 weeks during which I will not be able to post. I wanted to say it now as if you are fine botting me for such a long time I would love to play with you. If not I will present a baby-rage behaviour and step down making a spot for someone else.

GM Wayfinder |

I am sure we can manage.
Depending on where we are at, the best is to give you a side mission and then I'll reduce the difficulty of what you are up against to be good for 3 (or toss in some NPC you can use or whatever).
So...
• a Dwarf - what?
• human cleric of Asmodeus with Fire domain or the Druid with animal companion?
• a human fighter
• A gnome scoundrel rogue (skills/face)

SuperBidi |

I agree with our DM, it's not a big deal. We all have lives and this may happen to anyone of us (the main reason why I'm starting PbP is the goblin that recently invaded mine).
PS : It looks like we have a Cleric of Asmodeus. Even before seeing his profile, I was pretty sure the face was not one of a noble servant of nature :D

Natsume Ren |

A quick question for the group, then-- are we interested in getting a Discord together? Can be useful to coordinate things like expectations, ask quick questions of the GM without slowing down gameplay (should he join), etc.

GM Wayfinder |

I was pretty sure the face was not one of a noble servant of nature
Maybe that's the face of the druid's animal companion?!
how do I appear in the campaign players and characters?
You'll appear when you post in the Gameplay thread.
And then (if it is not yet the case) the game should appear in your "campaigns" page.Like:
https://paizo.com/people/SuperBidi/campaigns (does that work?)
And you should also then see when someone has posted.
If you wish, you can start Giggett posting RP-wise in the Gameplay thread, to RP her meeting with the person who will most probably have her join the caravan.
When others have an idea of how they want to enter the game, tell me.
re. Discord, I do not mind following a thread there.
I only use it for specific things, and had not opened it in months.
My handle there is now:
GM Wayfinder #2515
I would probably answer questions here faster anyhow, since I mostly spend time typing away at my computer.
But I am fine with checking Discord if you guys like that medium.

SuperBidi |

I don't know much about Discord, I thought it was a software for chatting, but it looks like I may make a mistake.
I'm fine with using the forum here, and fine with using other ways if you prefer.
