Magda "Magpie" Vasiliu
Magda tries to track where Girrigz went, as they move through the warren.
survival: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (13) + 13 = 26
Marcus the Dog
Marcus raises his shield and moves forward, eyes scanning the rooms.
Full defense, move.
Perception: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (5) + 10 = 15
Stealth for whatever it's worth: 1d20 + 2 - 4 - 1 ⇒ (12) + 2 - 4 - 1 = 9
GM Litejedi
The pair of shriekers begin again as the party passes, a cacophony, but the group tries to hustle through the muck to get to the next room.
As a reminder, the shallow flow of sewage in this room makes the floor somewhat slippery in the spaces it covers. Moving at half speed through the muck offers no problem, but a PC who moves faster or makes an attack in one of these slimy spaces must succeed at a DC 12 Acrobatics check or fall prone. Since I posted it earlier, I assume everyone's avoiding the slip and fall, and will therefore move all at half speed.
As an aside, everyone notices that there are cracks in the wall to the north, but that these are much too small for almost anyone to get through, other than a small creature. The party advances, and then, advances again two rounds as nothing happens, and there doesn't seem to be anywhere else to go. It's obvious that the light-footed Girrigz didn't bother to hide his trail, and he went east through the crack in the wall, towards which the party is headed.
C3
Several pieces of broken furniture, dried hay, and fragments of lumber burn in a small fire at the center of this open, ruggedly carved cavern. Short alcoves filled with filthy, oversized rats’ nests dot the walls, and the disgusting drip of polluted black condensation echoes through the chamber. A thick flow of sewage spreads across the western edge of the chamber, seeping from a crack in the western wall to another in the south.
The tracks head further east.
Magda can tell that the tracks head towards a crack that only a small creature could go through.
Several fat black rats are squeaking and poking an alley cat that is captured in a small cage sitting on the floor in the northern part of the room.

1d20 + 7 ⇒ (15) + 7 = 22
1d20 + 8 ⇒ (12) + 8 = 20
You realizes that the walls around the cleft in the south wall are subsiding and falling apart.
There sounds like there is movement coming from the southern crack.
Vera Esmeranda
"The walls south don't look too safe," mentions Vera. While the group pauses for a moment, she searches the area for magic and reports what she finds. Detect magic.
Magda "Magpie" Vasiliu
"I think they're trying to get us to go that way for a trap. East is where they went, but only smallish folk can fit. Meaning only..." she looks at Erasmo "... you."
Marcus the Dog
"Mhmm." We should have considered their home turf advantage here. Perhaps lured them out into the open. Although Marcus wished to share his thoughts on strategy, they were in enemy territory, and who knew who was listening?
Marcus carefully examines the wall from a respectable difference.
By saying 'falling apart' does it seem more secret tunnel or more cave in?
GM Litejedi
It’s not secret because it’s obvious, and any person can walk through. It’s not a cave in. It’s more that the stone and mortar is crumbling due to the moisture and the dirty water flowing past.
Erasmo Oakkeg
Erasmo nods. "Let me take a look..." He says as he pokes his head inside the narrow passage.
Yaziyah "Speaks For The Dead"
"Careful..."
Yaziyah moves up behind Erasmo, her hammer held at the ready to strike at anyone who might attack her friend.
Vera Esmeranda
Still trying (and failing) to avoid the muck, Vera sends some dancing lights with Erasmo to ensure that he can see.
GM Litejedi
1d20 + 9 ⇒ (10) + 9 = 19
1d20 + 12 - 3 ⇒ (12) + 12 - 3 = 21
Erasmo creeps up to the hole, and looks in without looking around the corner. He can see what he can see on the map.
Erasmo can also see a wererat behind him, waiting in the northern passage.
Erasmo Oakkeg
Erasmo gestures to the others, indicating the wererats in the northern passage before he steps further into the passage, looking to the north.
Basically moving 5ft. ahead to see around the corner, to the north.

Erasmo steps into sight of the hulking Girrigz, who sighs with a raspy voice, "too bad. But - we will try to avoid killing you." He snaps his fingers, and with a tremendous squeaking, rats begin to pour from the northern walls.
Four dire rats come from the west, biting at Vera. Two come to bite at Marcus. It's a knowledge nature 11 to know they're dire rats and 16 to know their statblock. Also, a swarm of rats pours and enters Marcus and Magda's space. It's a knowledge nature 12 to know it's a swarm with the swarm traits (tiny creatures and that it can inflict disease) with a 17 to know the statblock (though these are a little tougher than normal).
Yaziyah AOO (rat swarm): 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (15) + 9 = 24

Marcus rat attack 1: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (17) + 1 = 18
The swarm gets through Marcus' damage reduction and harms Magda and the fighter, both, though neither seem to be too distracted by the swarming things.
Looks like Vera might get bitten, but I don't know if she mage-armored herself - Tazo might have forgotten. If she did, no hits from the little rats.
The small rats seem to bite ineffectually at the party.

Magda knows her rats! "Rats, big ones Dire even, and the small ones are all twisted up together like a swarm, swinging, smashing, poking don't work as well, but fire does." Magda says that just as Yazi starts smashing rats into oblivion.
Mags doesn't have fire but she does have acid. Fishing in her magical pack, she finds them with ease. 2 vials. One of which she tosses into the swarm, knowing some of it will hit her and Marcus as well but decides it's worth it.

"Yay, okay" the half orc says, as she tries to push through the sea of rats.

Otyugh Initiative: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (3) + 0 = 3
One of the Otyughs that Magda has employed to clean the sewers has been trapped, apparently, by the wererats. Vera has not met it before.
It weakly says, ”I am very ‘ungry, please give me food.” It looks like it will likely attack if not fed, or convinced otherwise.
The party hears the voice of the Otyugh, and Magda recognizes it as one of her friends.
Magda, when you can: please name and ID all the otyughs (including this one) in the city! There’s one per district, and I believe two have already been set.
GM Litejedi
The blurry, indistinct form of Girrigz steps forward, rapier in hand, and with a practiced control, steps to skewer Erasmo. Blurry form means that he has some sort of magical effect.

Erasmo is demoralized for 2 rounds.
Erasmo is a little shaken by the wererat's confidence. Girrigz then watches Erasmo closely, to see what the halfling will do next.
1d20 ⇒ 15
A few more plump dire rats seem to scurry around the warrens, approaching the party to cut off their escape. In the western shrieker room, coming from the gaps in the wall that were passed.
One of the wererats with a shortsword approaches Marcus and tries to skewer him.

Moving out toward where Vera is standing she waves to him, "Flowers, I ain't got anything right now, but there are plenty of rats in here that look nice and plump. Want come grab a half dozen or so?"

Marcus plows over the swarm of rats, ruthlessly crushing them under his armored boots as he moves to plug the western hole.
Overrunning the green rat, and then the swarm, ending on the space I moved to on the map.
"Retreat to the south, now!" Marcus roars, briefly sweeping an arm towards the opening Yazi is in front of.
If we can all get down there we can chokepoint them.
Vera Esmeranda
"Yes, yes, lots of rats for you, Flowers!" says Vera into the darkness, trying to muster excitement. She hopes Magda has become good friends with this otyugh!

Marcus destroys the rat swarm and one of the rats, and the remainder of the dire rats scurry away. That was the other block - they're all useless/dead, so they run away. Except for three of them, which shift forms in a way that looks uncomfortable, returning back to their cloaked hybrid forms. Two step up, menacing Marcus one on each side, while the others draw crossbows. The one in the hall that remained in hybrid form, moves up and takes advantage of Marcus' flanked position. Orange get flanking, even though blue didn't attack, because blue threatens. Red and green just return to hybrid form.

Flowers waggles his tentacles, and seems to nod at Magda, "yes, rats are good. but I am stuck here by the ratmasters." He waves his tentacles and slaps the wall a bit. "could eat a shoe maybe, better than a smelly rat." The otyugh seems to salivate for a moment.
Vera's magic missile hurts one of the wererats. Orange
Despite All My Rage...- Round 2/3 Vera/Magda/Girrigz/Erasmo/Marcus/Yazi/Otyugh
Everyone is up!
Marcus the Dog
Marcus ignores the rats, trusting his armor to protect him. He shouts at Erasmo. "Can you get clear?!" He digs his heels in, his barked question demanding a fast response.
If Erasmo can get south of us we can chokepoint the enemies, but if not then Marcus will come to his rescue. Also Yazi I will need you at least 1 square further south in order to take all the aggro.
Magda "Magpie" Vasiliu
Magda lifts her foot, starts to wiggle off her boot, while she starts talking loudly so Girrigz and the rats can hear her "The city gave us each other. Rats, orc kids, otyughs, all of us, and you're here just trying to be better than the others, like those in the big buildings looking down at us. Then you got people like the Wall, yay he's a wall, and things, but he's solid and he cares in his own way, so..." she pulls the boot off and nearly losses her balance, but does lose her train of thought.

Resolving Overruns
Green and Purple are overrun, and damaged (though it looks to be less than Marcus would hope.
Two of the wererat rogues are knocked to the ground by Marcus, who maneuvers to avoid the sleeping ones. They are damaged slightly by his feet.
After DR 6 damage each to Green and Purple.
Yaziyah "Speaks For The Dead"
Yaziyah pokes at one of the wererats that Marcus had swept off their feet. "Stay down, if you know what's good for you. You can still surrender and we can talk about all this."

Vera unleashes a magic missile spell at Girrigz.
CL 5 MM.
magic missile: 3d4 + 3 ⇒ (1, 1, 3) + 3 = 8
As Marcus moves, he opens himself to an attack from Girrigz, even though the overrun surprisingly fails. The wererat is strong, and tough seeming, and his stance is light and extremely well balanced. He moves to stab at Marcus after the big man moves to get into flanking position.
Part of the movement provoked because Marcus wanted to set up the flank.
Girrigz, dazzled: 1d20 + 15 - 1 ⇒ (2) + 15 - 1 = 16
Girrigz Rapier Damage: 1d6 + 4 + 8 ⇒ (2) + 4 + 8 = 14
The two conscious wererats kip themselves up surprisingly quickly. So quickly that they don't open themselves to an attack.
Doesn't provoke.
They don't look too happy about the situation, but one steps adjacent to Erasmo to try and take the halfling down. The other attacks Marcus at Girrigz's direction.
purple feint Marcus (DC 16): 1d20 + 4 - 2 ⇒ (7) + 4 - 2 = 9
purple attack Marcus: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (16) + 5 = 21
purple damage on Marcus, sickened, SA: 1d6 + 3 + 2d6 ⇒ (2) + 3 + (3, 1) = 9
green attack Erasmo, flanking, dazzled: 1d20 + 5 + 2 - 1 ⇒ (8) + 5 + 2 - 1 = 14
green damage on Erasmo, SA: 1d6 + 3 + 2d6 ⇒ (4) + 3 + (5, 3) = 15
green bite Erasmo, flank, dazzled: 1d20 + 2 - 1 ⇒ (16) + 2 - 1 = 17
green bite damage Erasmo: 1d4 ⇒ 3
Neither attack hits, but Girrgiz sees that he's flanked, and tries to viciously cut down Erasmo.
Girrigz, flank, dazzled: 1d20 + 15 + 2 - 1 ⇒ (4) + 15 + 2 - 1 = 20
Girrigz Rapier Damage: 1d6 + 4 + 8 + 8 ⇒ (1) + 4 + 8 + 8 = 21
Girrigz, flank, pa,dazzled: 1d20 + 10 + 2 - 1 ⇒ (9) + 10 + 2 - 1 = 20
Girrigz Rapier Damage: 1d6 + 4 + 8 ⇒ (6) + 4 + 8 = 18
Girrigz Bite, flank, dazzled: 1d20 + 9 + 2 - 1 ⇒ (7) + 9 + 2 - 1 = 17
girrigz bite: 1d4 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7
Each blow glances off of Eramso's armor, as the magical enhancements keep the halfling from getting badly skewered. Girrigz seems composed, and calm, however, readying himself for whatever attack may come next.
lol more bad rolls.
Despite All My Rage...- Round 5/6 Vera/Magda/Girrigz/Erasmo/Marcus/Yazi/Otyugh

blur, high always good for players: 1d100 ⇒ 86
opportune parry and riposte: 1d20 + 15 + 2 - 1 ⇒ (20) + 15 + 2 - 1 = 36

Marcus the Dog
Bastard lmao. Gonna wait to see if I have fortune still before deciding on course of action.
Yaziyah "Speaks For The Dead"
Yaziyah shifts slightly left to cover more of the fracas with the long reach of her polearm before making another attempt to smack the wererat to her left. "I told you. To stay. DOWN."
Attack: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (16) + 7 = 23 Damage: 1d12 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 6 = 7
