I'm super open to a new campaign, if you'll have me. I've never gamed 5e at that level. I'll start checking things out.
Vrog, yes your rolling has been atrocious, and you've done a great job role-playing it.
cheers

I'm Adam. :D
And thanks, I'm hoping the law of averages will swing back my way at some point, but I think I'm still paying off a string of good luck with a fighter that critted more in a few months than I have the entire rest of the time I've been playing. I think she only missed twice the entire time I played her.
Of course, there's a reason I don't gamble. :P

Awesome, me neither. Mostly because I haven't wanted to homebrew or only do the late portions of a published. Saga of the Worm is really amazing set of adventures...will hopefully be a blast. It'll be 3 parts and Ill allow rebuilds between the parts. I just hope we can at least find 4...I'm sure its a hassle for most to create a character that high. Meh let me just polish off the recruitment post...

Hrungnir |

Open or closed recruitment? Either way I’m in, as I can’t turn down a chance to make such a character with the knowledge that it will actually be used. :)
Most of the time high level recruitments and/or gestalt lead to games the fizzle out.

GM Infinity |

Probably open, I mentioned it in the other game I'm running and don't think I have many takers. I really doubt it will get 6 applicants.
And I hear you on the fizzles. These are a connected set of AL modules so they'll zip along like AL modules. It wont be an AL game though.
I'll try to get it posted before I crash out tonight.

Carnadine |

Would we get the opportunity to check the library book, Day 4 with the new status? Is it worth it?
Did the frieze give us a status increase Day 5?
cheers

GM Infinity |

Basically status changes which table I look at. Investigation determines how high on that table I reference (goes from roll result 1 to 33). With status 5 or lower, and a +0 investigation mod, you have already gotten just about everything roll result 1-20 already.
Status 6 will switch to a new batch of rumors.
The frieze will bump you up even further, yes. Should finish that interaction today.

Carnadine |

Ah. OK
Who had the kill shot on Halycaster? Thought it was a Guiding Bolt to the face? Can we retcon to add the memory of the kill shot to the frieze?
cheers

Carnadine |

Carnadine would like to keep the memory, because he's EVIL
Would a character like to volunteer to embed that memory of the kill shot into the frieze?

Raseri Whitescale |

Raseri would if someone mentions it to her.

Carnadine |

technically Carnadine already mentioned in his blah, blah, blah post.
Me, the player, was reminding everyone.
cheers

Fair enough. Post with the memory incoming.

...animal handling wtf...
This is surely my fault. As mentioned in the recruitment (but rarely coming into play) I use the DMG variant where skills can be tied to different abilities if it makes sense. I just like having the option open...as mentioned there its not supposed to be a gotcha.
Anyways animal handling is one that could be cha or wis. Even in published adventures I have seen it tied to cha (eg STK). It comes down to if you argue using experience/observation or personality/charm. Really just a choice. Hell, maybe dex if you are doing some wicked stunt horse maneuver.
edit: also I completely forgot I was going to try the Slow Natural Healing variant, lol. Oh well.

Raseri Whitescale |

Nah, luck has nothing to do with holding your hands over a screaming hot pan will you pour some liquid into it. That was me being stupid.

Well, it seems I'm doing a lot better today than I thought I would be. Still stings a little, but not nearly as much as before. Assuming things continue this way, I should be good.

Anything involving fingers makes life hard
...and yet amputation never works out as well as I'd hoped either. ;-)
Glad you're improving quickly!

Shall we brainstorm OOC about what to offer the Goblin King (in addition to a very fine stout)?

Carnadine |

It’s tough on what to offer. The goblin king is insane, violent, impulsive and an egomaniac. Anything logical offered could get us killed. I think strong alcohol is our best bet.
Second

Deimus |

Unless he wants more power? A better spot within the court?

Kjeta Strongmalt |

OK, I have a post mostly ready to make but I got to wondering...at this point, what are we wanting to get from him?
Per this post of Carnadine's "I also learned that Moggo the Chamberlain in the Goblin Court, can grant an audience with the Goblin King. If we're not guests of the royals, then we're servants. So, we need to secure places as servants with room and board."
Are we just here at this point to get room and board? Any other advantage we think we can get from him or his advisors? (Perhaps we should try to find someone *sane* down here to work with? Maybe Moggo??)

Carnadine |

I think becoming servants was one way to go. I think we just need survive this encounter. I don't think we need to become servants anymore.
cheers

Raseri Whitescale |

That could set a dangerous precedent. Kill the goblin king to become the goblin king.

No spoilers but...yall really gotta read Might Jack, and Mighty Jack & the Goblin King!!
(Then you can read the Zita the Spacegirl books, and then the mashup Mighty Jack & Zita the Spacegirl...but really those first two I mentioned are amazing for any age, and have my very favoritest Goblin King.

Carnadine |

One of you could always BECOME the new Goblin king.
Exactly. Seems like Moggo the Chamberlain already became the King. Anyone want to become the chamberlain? Then, poof to King! To the court into proper one?

GM Infinity |

Seems like Moggo the Chamberlain already became the King
Yep, as Eracen or someone would have explained, Moggo is basically the most powerful LOW status (6 and under) person. When crimes or disputes occur among low status people, they go to Moggo...not the upper courts. Earlier when Lexi was snooping around the palace, had she engaged in thievery and been caught...she would have been tried here for example.
He is not actually a King in the traditional sense, more of a self-proclaimed lord...but he has real sentencing power as evidenced by the murders, or at least by the willingness of all the other servants to do his bidding.

Carnadine |

Are we hunting?
Carnadine still has on his to-do list:
1. Meet Scutarius. Secure his support, and discover as much info as possible.
2. Meet the quartermaster. Secure his/her support, and discover as much info as possible.
7. Along the way, maybe beat up a Raven or three to earn their respect and support

Raseri Whitescale |

You could enlist Hrungnir and Raseri for that las one. She's at the dueling grounds already.
I do have a question for the GM, how common are starmetal weapons here?

Raseri Whitescale |

Oh, good to know.

GM Infinity |

For this duel, I just did combat sort of normal not really knowing any better. Perhaps that was a mistake. The module presents a dueling system that is a bit more like a skill challenge. It might be worth a try if someone is game. The basics:
How combat works:
No initiative is rolled.
Attacks are made by both duelists simultaneously.
Normal attack bonuses are used, but only dex/nat armor/magic prot for armor. No shields or armor.
A roll of raw 1 or fail opponent AC by 5 or more allows a free attack from opponent.
Otherwise, a minimum of 3 attacks are made by both duelists.
Most successes wins, and ties are possible.
Damage/Healing/Resolution:
Damage inflicted is normal. During 'dueling season' hp lost in duels can only regenerate at 1+con mod hp per day. So a 16 con fighter for example would only recoup 4 hp per day.
Cheating:
You can try to cheat by taking 2 attacks instead of 1.
If both attacks miss, the cheat attempt is not detected.
If one or both hit, its a contest: the low roll of the two is the 'cheating roll'. If opponents pp+5 exceeds the cheating roll, its detected.
Cheater gets -1 status and duel ends.
Thoughts?

*Lexi |

That's an interesting system. When I wake up, I wouldn't mind dueling again and giving it a try.

Carnadine |

Is dueling different than the tournament?
Carnadine would need to use his shield, because he uses it to get advantage.
