Hehe... that's 2 nat 20s for this. Perhaps the Queen herself won't be able to see us if our status rises high enough ;)

Deimus |

Master of Failure?
Death is the Final Road?
Just throwing ideas around.

Deimus |

Disaster of Roads
Oooh, I like that one a lot!

GM Infinity |

Alright. Sounds like everything is almost in place with rolls and details:
Carnadine: gathered info helpful in making (rolled 13)
Deimus: spearheaded the creation of moving parts (rolled 24)
Hrungnir: creation of misc metal parts (rolled 25)
Not yet rolled or undeclared:
Raseri: frieze design
Kjeta: masonry or beer distribution during showing?
Lexi: ass grabbing
Lets finalize this tonight and move on if possible. Any last minute cherries on top?

Deimus |

The Roren Roadkill?

Carnadine |

Rolling a 1, you obviously mispelled when you were chiseling. I was trying to give you an RP reason to reroll using Carnadine's Inspiration.

*Lexi |

Lexi's spending a bunch of time making a map of the place (any where I can get into or see).

Kjeta Strongmalt |

Carn:
Aha! I totally appreciate the donation, but I think you misread. My roll was Masonry+guidance: 1d20 + 3 + 1d4 ⇒ (18) + 3 + (2) = 23
...and per DM, I get to add +5 WIS for a net of 28.
My Investigation roll was 11 (on a d20) + 1 (on a d4). Was that what you were looking at?
Given that, I'll assume you still have your inspiration.
Raseri:
I believe you get to add your WIS to that roll as well, per DM's guidance to me.

Carnadine |

Oh then I misread your post. I thought you rolled a 1 on the project.
Cheers

GM Infinity |

I'd probably say not without some kind of special gloves or ability that gives you reach into the spectral/spiritual realm, like etherealness or such. Even then, you'd be limited by its 20 ft move and bonus action.
But would rule depending on the context for coolness.
Why do you ask?
Im not adverse to spell research.

Well, Raseri was thinking of having the others that are shown in the frieze carrying the weapons she forged carry them instead of her to help keep her out of the limelight. I was trying to think of a way to arm her and let her use booking blade without her having to borrow Carnadine’s sword or Snowcrash.

Kjeta Strongmalt |

Raseri, please correct me if I'm wrong.
I think Raseri is talking about the weapons *depicted* in the frieze. I believe she's not concerned about losing a weapon (or needing one to put into it)...I think this is part of her personal goal of hiding her own involvement/impact within the party.
In other words, her personal goal is to depict what happened while making it seem that she wasn't involved (or was only barely involved). Why isn't clear, at least to me, but it's a personal goal. Given that goal, my understanding is that she wants to see if she can attribute her booming blade / spiritual weapon to others.
(My own two cents: I'm sure you can easily just edit those out, if you really want to. Kjeta is puzzled that you're trying to...but you pushed back when she asked and it seems a harmless quirk, so she'll leave you to it at this point.)

Raseri Whitescale |

I hadn't thought of that, but it's a cool idea that I'd like to try at some point.
You're half-right. Raseri does want to make it look like she had nothing to do with the party's successes. I'll get into why in a bit, but for now, it's what she wants to do. Part of that was depicting Hrungnir as the smith who reforged the darts and sword into the materials used for her seax and the inlay on her other weapons. The others were depicted using those weapons as they defeated the dragon, the giants Haylcaster set against us, and Haylcaster himself. What Raseri would do is give the weapons to the characters that are depicted using them in the frieze.
So, Lexi or Deimus would have the Seax, Kjeta would have the warhammer, Carnadine would have her greatsword, and Hrungnir would have the maul, unless someone wanted something else or one of you comes up with a better arrangement.
Unfortunately, that leaves Ras with just her bow and her shield. My idea was to cast spiritual weapon to let her have something to arm herself with and, if possible, use booming blade like normal while attacking with the spiritual weapon. If that's not possible, the Raseri will be going a viking for a new weapon during one of the few breaks she's likely to have over the days of making "Failycaster Montyldrool of House Ruin, the Disaster of Roads."
That or take her chances with forging something when she is too frustrated to do the delicate work of engraving, leafing, and inlaying, which is probably going to be a good bit given the abysmal roll.
Now, as to why Raseri's trying to write herself out of the party's story, it's going to be a dive into my head and her head.
If you'd rather find out in game/in character, stop reading now.
Ever since she was almost killed at the library, things have not gone well for Raseri. She's begun to remember things that happened in her childhood and has seen visions of her "mothers" and "sisters." She failed to do much in the fight against the giants since she was in a pit the whole fight. She failed to land even a single blow on the Master of Roads and was treated as nothing more than an annoyance to get away from. She feels like she failed Lexi by letting her get infected by whatever it is that's gotten into her, and now, she's having trouble even completing the piece she set out to do.
To add to that bundle of issues, she's terrified that she's going to run into "family" here in the Shadow Fey Courts and she's gotten some pretty strong hints that she isn't welcomed here. Rather than risk the group being in the fallout of anything that happens to her as a result, she's trying to distance herself from the others, and make herself the expendable one.
To sum it up, Raseri feels that she's a detriment to the party's goals. She feels that she has done nothing but hold them back and fail at anything that would have helped. She doesn't trust herself. She doesn't know who she is. She doesn't think she's worth anything to the party, except as a meat shield.
That's part of why she let Carnadine drink from her. She's that desperate for answers, and while it may have settled some things in her mind, she's still not any better off.
So, yeah. Raseri's basically spiraling into a deep depression.
Don't worry though, there's a plan here. It'll all be good soon enough.

Kjeta Strongmalt |

Kjeta would definitely prefer she's depicted wielding her tankard! (While it's not technically the Holy Weapon of Ninkash, in my mind it is.) Otherwise, K won't interfere. ;-)

Kjeta Strongmalt |

Re Investigation: no worries, I figured (and a low INT oughta cost me something).
Re Ulrika: does the illusion keep me from hearing him/her/them too?

Raseri Whitescale |

Yup.
So, If Kjeta doesn't want the hammer, then we could say that Hrungnir has it.
Current Weapon Allocations:
- Deimus: Starmetal Seax
- Carnadine: Greatsword
- Hrungnir: Maul and warhammer
Guess it's time for me to look up the shield bash rules.
EDIT: Of which, there appear to be none, so need a GM ruling on this one.

Carnadine |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |

Carnadine prefers sword and shield if it doesn’t upset the artist. And make his sword as long and great as desired.

Raseri Whitescale |

Oh, sorry.
For Raseri? I'd guess either a lightning/frost maul or greatsword. It fits her motif and just makes sense that a northlander cleric of Thor would have a weapon that was basically a hand-held thunder blizzard.
Though, there was one time I had a character that was given an item that could take the form of any melee weapon. That was cool and I would love to have something like that again, but probably not for Raseri.
@Carnadine: Fair enough. I was trying to avoid the questions that would come up if the court happened to notice the lowly northlander smith was carrying the weapons in the frieze. But if no one's willing to carry them, then I guess it's kinda moot point.

Deimus |

If you're asking Deimus: rhetorics. Otherwise, a dagger will do.

Kjeta Strongmalt |

Awesome! Does that give advantage on the day we succeed at that roll, or for that and all future days?

Kjeta Strongmalt |

WOOT!!!!! That advantage was enough. Got it twice, and (praise Ninkash!) managed to finally pierce the veil!
Is that a permanent change for me? If so, can you remind me what exactly has changed for her?
Thanks!

GM Infinity |

Gradual increase in actual Status stat changes the way the court looks. At low status, everything looks dusty and spoiled...forgotten, neglected, colorless, abandoned. But as it ticks upward things become cleaner and more beautiful, and much more crowded (its actually crazy how packed it is, but only Deimus is getting a slight hint of that right now).
However, since your Status hasn't actually changed, really you just now notice these 2 people where before it was empty (invisible, silent, etc).
It reminds me of a scene from some movie but I can't place it.
For these two, yes its permanent.

May be if you raise your status you'll remember...

Raseri Whitescale |

I'll be passing. My dance card's full, otherwise I'd throw my hat into the ring. Hope y'all have fun all the same.

Kjeta Strongmalt |

Raseri, I think it's time to retire whatever d20 you're using. Heck, you might do better trading it for a d8! :-/

Raseri Whitescale |

I would, but Paizo's RNG keeps giving it to me. :P
In all seriousness, as fitting as it is for her character arc, it gets old fast when you build a melee cleric and you can't roll high enough to hit the broadside of a barn from five inches.
First there was the fight with the soul eater
Then there was the fight with the giants
Then she couldn't hit the Master of Roads even once
Then poor Ras goes and rolls low on the one thing she thought she'd be able to contribute.
Then this!
I mean is it any wonder she's feeling like she's the albatross around the party's neck?
