(Botting Gazigaz)

Gazigaz, quick with a quip, says some super drift and encouraging things to Nako, giving her an Inspiring Boost for 8 Stamina, while firing his arc pistol at one of the ones swarming the soldier!

Zap?: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (9) + 4 = 13 vs. EAC
Electricity Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 4

Combined with Nako's devastating doshko slice, one of them is destroyed, disintegrating into particles of dust and shadow! Quonx is able to graze another with her attack as well!

Unfortunately, Nako, Mysticism is trained only, even for recall knowledge checks with a DC under 10 - one of the few small changes from PF v1 I didn't like as much as most others.

The shadow creepers continue their assault on the skittermanders in front of them!

vs. Nako:
Number 2 Bite: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (14) + 5 = 19 vs. KAC
Piercing Damage: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5

Number 3 Bite: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (8) + 5 = 13 vs. KAC
Piercing Damage: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2

vs. Quonx:
Number 4 Bite: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (11) + 5 = 16 vs. KAC
Piercing Damage: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3

Number 5 Bite: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 9 vs. KAC

"No one would be stupid enough to build a ship with a dimensional rift like this inside. The anchors must be unusual, something out of place, or magic.... Light might stall them."

Dakoyo switches on the lights found on all armor. Then he activates his light beacon and tosses it into the room.

I put a white circle on the target point. Unfortunately, it's just normal light. I'll roll an attack against the ground.

Nako's player has corrected me - p.133 in the CRB (hidden away, of course) reveals that, like PF v1, you can make checks to ID creatures and recall knowledge untrained if there is a DC of 10 or less. Great catch, Nako!

Dakoyo tosses his beacon into the room, shedding a little bit of light on the situation, while Nako tosses her grenade...

Creeper Reflex Saves:
2: 1d20 + 3 - 1 ⇒ (5) + 3 - 1 = 7
3: 1d20 + 3 - 1 ⇒ (16) + 3 - 1 = 18
4: 1d20 + 3 - 1 ⇒ (10) + 3 - 1 = 12
5: 1d20 + 3 - 1 ⇒ (14) + 3 - 1 = 16
6: 1d20 + 3 - 1 ⇒ (2) + 3 - 1 = 4

Three of the five remaining Creepers (Numbers 2, 4, and 6) are now Blind for 4 rounds! Because light is their bane, even the ones who made their saving throws (Numbers 3 and 5) are also blind but only for 1 round! Great turn, Nako!

However, in order to target the Creepers, the flash grenade will also catch Nako and Quonx, who need to make DC 13 Reflex Saves to avoid being blinded as well!

Dakoyo's beacon reveals enough of the room for you all to get a good look at it:

The circular chamber contains two rows of reclining seats curving around a central space. The ceiling appears to be made from a dome of transparent aluminum, but panels covering the outside of the dome block the view. Four pedestals, each topped with a large chunk of onyx, are evenly spaced around the outside of the room. Doors lead forward and aft.

At the moment, you can see two of these onyx chunks, both with a soft gold aura around them (gold on the map). In the center of the room is what can only be described as a rip in normal space - a ribbon of darkness not even the beacon can illuminate.

*sings* Bliiiinded by the liiiight...

Gazigaz pumps Quonx up, even as the mechanic is forced to retreat from combat. Fortunately, the blind creepers can't threaten things they cannot see!

Now that the onyx chunks are visible, Dakoyo can tell that standing adjacent to one and making a Mysticism check would disrupt one (your GM would also allow a Physical Science check to know how to smash one apart). Alternatively, breaking them with a strength check or hitting them with weapons (hardness would apply vs weapons) would also work.

Flailing around, Creepers 4-6 have no idea where anybody is, so perhaps scared by Gazigaz's yelling, they retreat backwards, giving Gazigaz and Dakoyo an Attack of Opportunity if they have any melee weapons in-hand!

Creepers 2-3 try to blindly attack Nako!

For % Miss Chances in my PbPs, high is always good for whoever is rolling it, so in this case 1-50 is a miss and 51+ is a hit.

I think Gazigaz meant Dakoyo :P

Gazigaz clips creeper #4, which staggers away, still barely alive (4 Damage). The shot from his pistol goes a bit wide.

Nako swings blindly, narrowly missing a shadow creeper as well. Dakoyo also misses with the battle staff, but then he runs into the room and focuses on the onyx chunk, feeling something "give" in the spiritual sense - that onyx shard is no longer connected to the portal, which visibly weakens! The creepers seem to feel this, somehow...and every one of them seem to turn their heads towards Dakoyo, even the blind ones!

Despite being wounded, Dakoyo is able to re-attune the second onyx, making it inert. The dark ribbon wavers, but remains present!

Due to the terrain (the seating) and the fact that the creepers are tiny, all four of them have to double-move to chase after Dakoyo. Gazigaz and Dakoyo can take Attacks of Opportunity against any of these four creepers as they move past the green skittermander, ending up in the same square as the blue mystic!

Bad news / Good news:

Bad news - I don't think Dakoyo's armor has the light projector armor upgrade, so there aren't any lights available aside from the beacon. Personal comm units have built-in flashlights, something I feel they neglected to add to the character sheets here, but those are an item I always assume pregens have since they are kind of vital.

Good news - performing a mysticism check to interact with the onyx does not provoke an attack of opportunity!

Miss Chance: 1d100 ⇒ 48

Dakoyo hears the creepers approaching, but concentrates on the onyx before him as his staff swing misses. Thinking quickly, he is able to sever the stone's connection to the planar rift! When he does, the remaining onyx is not strong enough to sustain the tear in reality, closing the rift and banishing all remaining creepers back to the Plane of Shadow.

As the blindness from the flash grenade wears off, you are now all out of combat!

"What just happened? What was that?", says Gazigaz, looking around. He then runs towards Dakoyo and hugs him tight.

"Are you okay Dakoyo? I didn't understand what you were doing, running around like a goose, but it looks like you just saved us! You saved us you drift thing! You're the best" Inspiration Boost

Gazigaz suddenly let go of his tight embrace and looks at his fur. With eyes as round as pool balls, he takes his hand mirror with shaky hands and cries out:

"My fur! My beautiful, soft and shiny fur! It's all messy! What a shame, I need to fix this immediatly. Look away, I am not presentable..."

"Creepy bug things are gone." She sighs leaning back. After a second looks around. "What's with dark rock like things?

You can take a 10 minute rest here, if you'd like, or you could press onward - entirely your call. There are no clues as to how this rift to the Plane of Shadow originated, however.

"Whoa, that's so drift! I bet it uses a neutrino-powered wormhole generator to link our dimension to... another one!" She takes out her quantum reality spanner and taps the crystal slowly and pensively. "If I could get my quantum reality spanner to work, I could probably redirect the energy flow to another dimension! What do you think, friends?"

"A-gree, Gaz. I'm beat from fleeing those shadow creatures. After Ibra let me break the first stone's connection to the shadow plane, they all had some kind of connection to me. I thought I'd run from them til the end of my life. Thank you all for your help."

I've still got a channel healing ability left. How are we all feeling about our HP?

"I don't know. Transitioning between planes is traditionally the purview of magic, but drift travel is inter-planar and that's technology. It might work, but it will probably take a long time."

After the rest Dakoyo will fetch Locke Linler and ask him about the stones. Were they part of the ship? Were they ever active before? Who put them there?

Locke is too weak to limp into the observation lounge, but will tell you that the onyxes were purchased by the ship's parent company, Trendsetter Excursions, with an enchantment that absorbs nearby light sources to provide a better view of the surrounding starfield from the observation deck, drawing only minimal energy from the ship's power core. The only person on the crew who knew how to modulate them was ship's engineer Kenjaro Chidi, the one who went to the bridge when the ship's AI started acting weird.

After you rest (or not - your call) in the Observation Lounge, you continue forward on the ship. To your right is a door labeled "Spa", and in front of you, "Bridge - Crew Only" while off to the left is a wide marble staircase that spirals downwards beneath a crystalline chandelier hanging from the ceiling.

Perception:
Dakoyo: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (10) + 9 = 19

Nako: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (19) + 0 = 19
Quonx: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (8) + 5 = 13

Nice perception rolls!

As you approach the forward sections of the ship, you hear machinery moving inside the Spa, and also the angry bellows of a male vesk...and all four of you are certain that's Nakonechkin's voice!

The tiled walls of this room are colored a soothing sea-foam green. Three cushioned tables occupy the center of the room, each with a plethora of mechanical arms ending in various nozzles, manipulator digits, and other implements. A series of chairs runs along the starboard side of the room, with apertures in the wall behind them. The air is humid and smells of sandalwood.

In this room is a scene of chaos! Nakonechkin is laying on the table in the middle of the room, grappled and held-down, while the auto-massage instruments are pummeling him into unconsciousness, repeating this process every time he stirs even slightly towards waking up! The implements on the other two tables seem to be aggressive and ready to strike out at anybody inside the room!

These massage tables are made of polycarbonate plastics and metal alloys that are somewhat forgiving, meaning that they have hardness. However, because they are machines, they can also be deactivated as if they were traps by using the Engineering skill as a Standard action (Trained only, though).

Gazigaz moves into the room then gives a hopeful cheer, pointing at the Yellow table!

Get'em! +1 to attacks vs. Yellow

Because Quonx wouldn't have to disable the Orange table, I'm going to say that she only needed to move a little bit into the room in order to do so, thus...
