You still have haste (until I act this round), if that would have affected your movement

Can we see the Phoenix from inside the wall of fire? If not, I’ll probably start an inspire courage and move past the wall so I can participate in the fight. Flagbearer bonus requires you to see the flag. I suggest we hold haste until we can get melee and ranged, i.e. after this fight.

Can Ajax figure out the caster level of the spell?

Didn't see that coming but there was no way to stop it...its CMB is higher than my CMD...Flyn's useless now. Watch out for your bow, Ajax!
Flabbergasted, in a useless gesture Flyn draws his adamantine dagger and goes total defense...
Since I'm desperate, I've got a grasping at straws question GM...is the Phoenix's disarm attempt considered unarmed since it's not using a weapon to disarm Flyn? Figured I'd ask as that would be -4 to the disarm attempt would make me drop my bow but it wouldn't be able to carry it away (Scratch that, misread the Disarm rules; looks like the -4 applies but it could still take my bow since it was unarmed)
Aericus

Aericus stabs the bird once more as it flies away.

Realizing drawing the dagger was a futile gesture, Flyn sheathes it and maintains total defense...
AC30 for next round; Flyn will continue to do this as I can't think of anything useful he can do otherwise...if a round comes up where I'm the last to post, you can bot me as going total defense so I don't hold things up...
Laara
|
There you are you ^&(& Laara yells as she gets her bearings and sees the giant phoenix peeking out from the fire. Charging through the air at it, she lunges and punches out at the beast.
Looks like it's peeking out from a bit due to size from the circular wall, so I think Laara can see it? If not, would delay until it emerges, then essentially do the same charge.
Acrobatics to try and dodge the AoO: 1d20 + 21 + 2 ⇒ (9) + 21 + 2 = 32

Reducing 1d6 of Sneak attack to sicken it for 1 round. If hit, will Disorient it to reduce its attacks by 2 (4 vs me).
If that Intimidate works, it's also shaken for 19 rounds (Enforcer feat)

GM: Thought of something else I might could do...can I do a readied action instead? Something like, if the Phoenix emerges from the wall of fire and it's not carrying his bow, Flyn will run back inside the wall to check if it dropped his bow there?
Ajax Arrowhawk
|
So I'm confused. Is it sticking out beyond the fire wall? It's 20 feet long and that won't fit inside the semi-circle.
When Ajax sees the phoenix rip the bow out of Flynn's hand, Ajax cringes and calls out to Flynn, "I have an extra bow in my quiver."
Ajax has MW Composite Longbow (STR +1) in his Efficient Quiver.
Ajax retreats back with Ara, staying with 30' of the bard.
EDIT: Ok, missed that part if you had explained it earlier
Ammensura Ibn Jad
|
As Ammen is 20' in the air and close to the wall I assume I can see it?
Ammensura Ibn Jad
|
Ammen flies up and forwards to get a clearer line of sight.
There it is he shouts as he spreads out his arms and calls down the storm. From the cloudless sky a bolt of electricity strikes down at the creature.
Move action, moving to 30' in the air and using a standard action to call one bolt from dazing call lightning
SR: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (12) + 11 = 23

DC25 reflex save negates the damage. If it fails the save it is dazed for 3 rounds
Deno'thar

Deno’thar sees the lightning bolt fizzle. After Aericus’s attacks he runs to Ajax and retrieves the spare bow from the quiver.
Aericus

I think I have a charge lane with 60 ft. fly and 10 ft. reach. Not sure which square that would put me in, so I let GM move me.
Trying a new strategy, Aericus changes the arcane power enchanting his weapon to +2 agile keen icy burst and charges at the phoenix. Attempting, but failing, to swat away any attack he would take on the way.
Parry AoO: 1d20 + 7 + 6 + 2 + 1 + 3 - 6 ⇒ (1) + 7 + 6 + 2 + 1 + 3 - 6 = 14

Damage: 1d6 + 6 + 2 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 6 + 2 + 3 = 16 + Cold no Crit: 1d6 ⇒ 2
Additional Crit Damage: 2d6 + 22 ⇒ (5, 4) + 22 = 31 + Crit Cold: 2d10 ⇒ (7, 10) = 17
I'm annoyed by this bird. If that is a crit, I'll spend 2 more arcane points to make it an x3 crit as rolled.
| Grandmaster TOZ |
Bite AoO: 1d20 + 22 ⇒ (8) + 22 = 30
Aericus strikes a heavy blow, another screech ripping from the phoenix, this time in pain. With a moment of focus, it summons another sheet of flame, completing the cross within the ring as it flies away from Aericus. AoO again! As it pauses on the other side of the flame walls, it focuses again, a familiar feeling falling over Aericus as magical defenses fall away.

Rest of the party is up. Aericus has lost three more buffs, which could be a problem with that wall of fire directly below him. I'm having trouble accessing the slides at work, so I'm updating on my iPad. I will add the third wall of fire as soon as I can, but for now remember that it is running north-south through the center of the first casting.
Laara
|
Coward! Laara yells as the Phoenix refuses to emerge. Seeing Flyn stymied on the ground, she rushes down drawing out her own bow as she does. Here: pincushion it for me.
Double moving to Flyn, drawing and holding out her +1 longbow as she does.
Deno'thar
|
I was planning to run Ajax’s backup bow to Flynn if Laara would like to close to melee instead. I think Aericus just lost resist energy fire, fly, and barkskin, since those are the highest spell levels (all below CL14). Annoying bird indeed.
Aericus
|
AoO: 1d20 + 7 + 6 + 2 + 1 + 3 ⇒ (8) + 7 + 6 + 2 + 1 + 3 = 27

Since that actually hits CL11, I'll lose the resist energy, fly, and barkskin. Do I get a reflex save for falling into the wall as I would for having it cast in my space?
Reflex Save?: 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (3) + 16 = 19

Thanks for the correction Aericus, lots of shifting going on this combat. The DR taken off gets partially made up by vulnerability to cold.
