Garland Laakerntzen |

Garland whips around her sling and lets loose a projectile at the elemental that just attacked Grey.
Sling: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 1 = 9
miss chance low: 1d100 ⇒ 75
B damage: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2

Standard Action Throw molotov cocktail!Fwoompkf: 19
Yea, Ana! Finally a decent roll! Though I think the splash will get poor Grey, no?

Arsiel Duskwalker |

Sidestepping the elemental's attack, Arsiel redoubles his efforts to attack the creature, thrusting the ransuer at its top part, aiming for whatever passes for a head on these outsiders...
Power Attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (8) + 4 = 12
Damager: 2d4 + 9 ⇒ (1, 4) + 9 = 14

Anadorita Garimos |

Um. Maybe? To be honest I hadn't considered that. I think I was thinking Grey was gone again...

Um. Maybe? To be honest I hadn't considered that. I think I was thinking Grey was gone again...
Grey is at -3 with the bleed damage from this round. He could be revived given a chance. Too bad we have so little healing. 750 gp and a wand of CLW will make a huge difference for our party. But, in any case, 1 point of damage to Grey is well worth hitting the thing with an Alchemist's Fire!

![]() |

Ques has an Infernal Healing, but that would not help in the short run.

Anadorita Garimos |

Ah. I didn't know eidolons went to negative HP. I assumed they were dismissed at 0 HP...

GM Nayr |

They can stick around till they're at negative CON.
Ques's bolt flies just barely wide of its mark, throwing up a fountain of snow beside the creature. Garland misses, her attack having been adjusted for poor Grey, though he no longer stands. Directly after her, though, Ana scores a direct hit with her concoction, breaking it over the "head" of the elemental.
damage: 1d6 ⇒ 5
Plus 50 percent, so 7 damage!
The creature frantically beats at its form as the flames force it to begin to melt away.
Arsiel swings at the creature before him, but its oddly sinuous body merely shifts aside like an extension of the icy snow beneath it. It comes back with the slam of a fist, trying to lay Arsiel low. It clumsily misses, and nearly falls into the snow for its efforts.
Attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5
Damage: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
The other elemental, engulfed in flames, does the only thing it can think of to dull the pain - it dives down into the snow and begins thrashing around.
Everyone's up!

Anadorita Garimos |

”Yisss!” Ana exclaims, throwing in a fist pump for good measure. Her celebration turns into a gathering of gravitational power, that she then flings at Grey’s opponent...the blast is enormous, but, as is traditional, quite off target.
Move Action: Gather Power [reduces burn by 1]
Standard Action: Chaokinetic blast; dampening infusion.
Zchaa!!!: 1d20 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 2 + 1 = 6 [+2 Dex, +1 Weapon Focus]
Kfoompf!!!: 1d6 + 1 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 1 + 3 = 10 [+1 Physical blast, +3 Con]
If that hits: Will save DC 14 or be dazzled for 1 minute.

Arsiel Duskwalker |

Seeing the other elemental give way beneath the noxious booze explosion, Arsiel redoubles his efforts stabbing deep into the elementals' mass.
"Well done Ana!
Power Attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (14) + 4 = 18
damage: 2d4 + 9 ⇒ (2, 2) + 9 = 13

Garland Laakerntzen |

Garland moves through the brush to get near enough to Grey to reach down and touch him. As she reaches down to touch the eidolon, her hand pulls in dark motes of energy that disperse through the shadowy creature upon contact. The dark energy seems to attune well to Grey as the visible damage seems to fad.
Healing hex: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 1 = 9

![]() |

Nice! That puts grey back up to 6/11 HP! And since his is all mouth and tail, I don't think he needs to stand up. We may be missing a lot, but the important rolls are doing well.

GM Nayr |

Nice! Ques and Grey can both act, though indeed, Grey is prone.
Arsiel, nearly enraged by the icy nuisance in front of him, swipes through with his blade, neatly shearing off nearly half of the creature's body. It falls to the ground and seems to be returning to the frozen water from which it was animated.
The other elemental seems to have doused the flames with the use of the natural snow about it, and now stands in a muddy puddle. It looks...angry...or at least, that's what you imagine since it doesn't really have an expression.
Ques and Grey first, then it's up!

![]() |

This is the first thread I found on the subject, but I don't think a serentine creature can be tripped or made prone. serpentine and prone
Ques tries to help out his buddy and sends a bolt flying towards the elemental hassling Grey.
to hit heavy crossbow: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7
damage: 1d10 ⇒ 10
Grey gets to his 'feet?' and attempts to attack the foe right in front of him
to hit bite: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (9) + 1 = 10
damage bite: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5
If he gets a full attack...
to hit tail slap: 1d20 - 4 ⇒ (5) - 4 = 1
damage tail slap: 1d6 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8
But it seems that neither of them could hit a wall 5' in front of them.

GM Nayr |

Absolutely; in hindsight, that makes complete sense...I get a comical vision of trying to trip a snake.
After the flurry of attacks miss its form, the elemental lets out an icy hiss, and attacks the most apparent form of trouble - Grey.
Slam: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (9) + 4 = 13
Damage: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
It misses Grey's shadowy form and, though it doesn't register with the elemental the immense danger it's in, the party can foresee its doom.
Everyone's up, finish it!

Garland Laakerntzen |

Garland pulls another bullet and lets it loose at the elemental, knowing that she'll likely miss as it writhes about with the shadowy Grey.
Sling away!: 1d20 + 1 - 4 ⇒ (10) + 1 - 4 = 7
miss chance low: 1d100 ⇒ 10
B damage: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4

![]() |

The summoner team keep up the pressure and manage to make a few shots on target.
to hit heavy crossbow: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (16) + 1 = 17
damage: 1d10 ⇒ 3
to hit bite: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (17) + 1 = 18
damage bite: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7
to hit tail slap: 1d20 - 4 ⇒ (7) - 4 = 3
damage tail slap: 1d6 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10

Arsiel Duskwalker |

Yikes I messed up, I couldn't have used studied foe as I had to move on that last attack so -1 to the attack and damage rolls. I should have looked at the map more closely before posting, I would have moved to flank with Grey and done it that way... oh well!

Anadorita Garimos |

Ques - is a full round action to reload a heavy crossbow. Let's hope Grey killed it, otherwise Ana will have to hit with a kinetic strike...

![]() |

I didn't know that. Is it a full round to load a light crossbow too?

Anadorita Garimos |

GM Nayr |

Grey takes his revenge! Like a feral beast, he leaps upon the ice elemental, bearing it down to the ground with his powerful bite. The elemental lands in the newly created puddle of mud, and squirms about as Grey holds on with tenacity.
In a few seconds, the elemental stops struggling, and falls into its components parts, which begin to melt.
Down and dying! No sign of the "retreating?" sprite. The odd snowman is still looking at you.
The snowman hasn't moved, nor spoken since the battle began.

Anadorita Garimos |

[Well, I did shoot it in the noggin from point blank range... ;)]
Ana breathes hard, and rushes back to her discarded crossbow lying in the snow, reloading it hurriedly.
"Nice, Grey! Can you sniff out the lil pesk?"

![]() |

Grey does not have the scent ability. Not sure if he even has a nose.

Anadorita Garimos |

[Sure, but Ana doesn't know that.]

Anadorita Garimos |

In the crunching snow, Ana walks over to the eidolon.
""Lady". Heh, I could get used to that." she smiles. Then, crossbow loaded she saunters (as best one can in snowshoes) over to Mr Snowman. Removes her quarrel. And pushes his head off.

Garland Laakerntzen |

Garland moves up towards the snowman, weaving her fingers and muttering a few arcana sounds.
Cast Detect Magic on the snowman; focus for 3 rounds (if allowed)
Spellcraft (if needed): 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (13) + 7 = 20 +1 if cold descriptor

Anadorita Garimos |

Daw! No fun!
Ana stops as Garland cautions her.
"I was only gonna push his head off..."

Garland Laakerntzen |

Garland weaves her fingers some more while grabbing a piece of cloth from her pouch. A few arcane words later and she touches Ana. The dark enrgy spreads out over Ana. "Better to be cautious here."
Cast Resistance on Ana. Can do likewise to any that plan on approaching the snowman.

![]() |

Ques goes over to Grey and looks him over. Though wounded he does not look TOO bad and, finally, Ques decides not to cast an infernal healing on him.
"I really think the better option would be to just give the thing a wide berth. There is absolutely no reason to cross here. I'll just stand back and watch if one of you wants to try. And that means Grey too."
I'm thinking maybe he would rather not be the trap springer for once. And to think that I actually trusted that 'elk'. Boy am I gullible.

Arsiel Duskwalker |

Casting his eyes about, Arsiel looks for signs that there may be a better place to cross this frozen-seeming river, while keeping an eye out for invisible fey.
Hmm, let me look from here and see what I can see...
Survival: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (14) + 4 = 18
Perception: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (9) + 4 = 13

Anadorita Garimos |

Well, given Garland stopped Ana, and Ques cautions moving on...
"You're right Ques. The elk brought us here. And he was with the fey. Arsiel - you able to find our tracks back and maybe pick uo where we followed the elk from? We don't even know we need to cross this damn'd river..."
GM - I was surprised you let Garland stop me, given I posted before her. Would have accepted the consequences for my rash actions...

GM Nayr |

There was a reason; after I reread, I think you would have set off whatever it was with your shot to its head - before the battle even started. So, a bit of Retcon to fix my mistake by putting it into the story;) Sorry about that!
Arsiel is fairly certain that the path they need to follow does indeed cross Wishbone Creek. Though fresh snow covers the tracks, there's really no other way they could have gone except through the dense trees to either side and the particular lack of tracks shows proof otherwise.
Mechanically - the stream is 20 feet wide and frozen, acting as a sheet of ice. It costs 2 squares of movement, and a DC10 acrobatics check is required to get across. There are places where the ice is thinner than others, but it's obvious from above and can be avoided. You can make precautions and/or just cross at will.

Garland Laakerntzen |

Garland wearily eyes the snowman and, giving it a wide berth, moves into the underbrush and starts to cross the stream. She can clearly see the weak areas and avoids them like the plague. While the ice is slippery, she is able to cross without an issue.
Acrobatics: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (9) + 6 = 15

![]() |

acrobatics, Ques: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (11) - 1 = 10
acrobatics, Grey: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (15) + 3 = 18
Ques slippy slides across the ice and Grey slithers without mishap, following in the path of Garland.

Anadorita Garimos |

Acrobatics: 1d20 + 2 - 1 ⇒ (10) + 2 - 1 = 11
Ana gingerly steps on to the frozen river, managing to avoid cracking the ice. She gasps as Arsiel falters...
I know it isn't RAW, but can I attempt a stupidly high Reflex to push Arsiel begore he falls with my Gravity Kinetic Blast?

Anadorita Garimos |

Ana struggles to blast him up and away:
Reflex: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (12) + 4 = 16
Schkwaaa!!!: 1d20 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 2 + 1 = 7 [+2 Dex, +1 Weapon Focus]
Fkwoosh!!!: 1d6 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8
[Whelp, even if she were quick enough, she can't seem to target him...]

GM Nayr |

Nonlethal: 1d6 ⇒ 1
Arsiel falls into the now open hole in the ice. At the last second before he goes under, a blast of energy from Ana scours the icy surface, making it thinner around the hole. Even though Arsiel has natural resistance to numbing cold like this, the shock of it is immediate and takes his breath away. He tries to gasp in more, only to quickly close his mouth as he sucks in some of the icy water.
DC15 Fort save or you're fatigued for the foreseeable future. Your cold resistance should be adequate to keep the damage at bay though, so no damage taken. Climb check now, to get out. Anyone who tries to can aid, but will need to make their own acrobatics check to avoid the week points of the ice. Or, if you have anything else in mind...

Garland Laakerntzen |

Garland hears the snapping of ice before she sees Arsiel plunge beneathe the ice. She turns and rushes back on the failing surface, trying to reach him. "Hold on Arsiel!"
Acrobatics: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (11) + 6 = 17

![]() |

Ques watches anxiously from the shore, unwilling to risk another crossing now that he sees how dangerous it is.
I think I got very lucky there.
