Ana and Garland attack the little creature, but to no avail. It darts about merrily, obviously taking delight in your failures. The one in the trees near Garland flies across the field of battle and fires another arrow along the way, this time not worrying too much about its own defenses. Garland gets an AOO as it flies up and away.

Once the sprite takes off over the trees, Garland rebalances her spear and moves over the the sprite near the rest of the group. She jabs at the vile creature, but can't seem to repeat her earlier strike.

Seeing one of their enemies shaking off the attack, the remaining two sprites burst into action. The one by Garland draws a long....at least in proportion to its own body....silver blade. It darts in to swipe at Garland.

The last lets fly another arrow at Garland, hoping to put down this defiant user of wicked flames.

Ana's blast of power just barely skims by, nearly singing the wing of one of the little creatures. It's eyes widen comically as it adjusts its flight path.
Garland is affected by the cold of the tiny slivers, and she can't move more than a step. Still she lunges at the little creature, but only stabs air as the darting figure moves about.

The eastern sprite takes a short burst of flight backwards, and waggles its little fingers at Garland.

The sprite to the north takes a slight angle to the west and fires an arrow at Ana.

Learning to anticipate the Color Spray, Garland closes her eyes, also managing to avoid the scathing from the fey creature in front of her. She steps up to it and, once again, stabs at the offending creature, missing wide. "Why can't we hit these things?!?"

Rethinking her strategy, Garland steps back to Ana as she takes a hand off her spear. The hand glows with more dark energy as she touches her friend.

Fifth round since color spray
Garland's spear sweeps in a quick arc and slashes through one of the sprite's wings, sending it reeling. The devilish little creature hisses as it darts away to fly high up, like its brothers. Ana's blast flies by as it rises into the air.

As the arrows pepper Garland she realizes that she is done for. She notices the tree to her north. As the small arrows drain her of all her energy, she crawls under the tree, hoping it will protect her from the onslaught from above.

Anything is rough if you roll low enough and they roll high enough. You can't win a fight if they always hit and you always miss. And with only starting gear we don't have anything to use to restore ourselves when things go poorly.

Ok. Ana is badly hurt and all three of her friends are down. She is going to run away and hope to survive. I am very sorry.
Ana’s face becomes a mask of fear as she sees Garland attempt to find shelter, only to become a pincushion. She looks at Arsiel. At Ques. All three down. Much as she wishes she could help in some way, she sees no option that doesn’t leave her also dead.
Biting her lip, tears freezing as they leave her eyes she runs, ungainly in her snowshoes, hoping against hope to survive...

I like it...sounds like a reasonable in character decision
One of the sprites points towards Ana's retreat and shouts something in its native tongue.
You reckon it must have been a command, as the other two sprites move to follow Ana's run. They fly overhead and send arrows down at the retreating form.
Their fly speed is 60 feet, so they can keep pace with you and still fire - especially in the snow. They're overhead, so you have partial cover from the trees.
Attack: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (19) + 8 = 27

Seeing the sprite coming for her, Garland holds her hands up and stands up to face the sprite. Feeling her unease and general sense of dread, Wanda appears out of Garland's cowl and sits atop her shoulder, hissing at the threatening fey. "Wanda, please, don't get yourself hurt. Please creature of the fey, take mercy upon me, even though I threatened you. Our purpose here was not to fight, but to find the missing lady so that she can be returned to her people. I know that I went to far, but you made it clear that you had slain the very reason we were here. Can we talk? Can we be civil? I am but a moment from leaving this world and don't want to leave it like this."

The sprite moves up to Garland, seeming to revel in the please for peace. It takes special care to speak in common, so Garland knows its intention. Don't worry, I'm enjoying this far too much to let it end quickly. I plan to take you apart, bit by little bit. I wonder how many slices you can take before you leave this world.
You should be happy...you'll live on for quite a long time once Rohkar works his magics upon you. You'll make a pretty corpse too...for a clumsy big person.
