Thorek Stonebeard
|
See Invisibility cast, lasts 1 hour. Divine favor will be cast right before opening the door
Perception left door: 1d20 + 20 ⇒ (13) + 20 = 33
Thorek, for his part, was unimpressed. He was oath-bound to support the pathfinder society. And while this occasionally paid off (he had, due to the Society, walked the abandoned halls of a Sky Citadel!), for the most part he saw what he did merely as duty. And right now there was a job to be done. Going west, he checked the door for any sign of a trap.

As Thorek moves towards the door
- - -
As Thorek walks towards the door, Amenopheus calls out "Ah...Mr. Dwarf...I remember now..This crystal is a gatekeeper built to prevent non-sages from traveling deeper into the scared sanctum." He steps just into the room and looks up at the crystal. "I am the Sapphire Sage. I've come seeking the Diamond Sage and knowledge"
The crystal quickly shows an image of a Garundi man walking toward the north door in the room, then a small, keyshaped sliver breaks off of the crystal and hovers in the air.
Amenopheus nods, walks over and picks up the key, and turns to the party "The north door will lead us onward." He nods towards the group.
Caelem Boreal
|
Caelem sidles up to the door and checks it for traps.
Perception for traps: 1d20 + 1d6 + 21 ⇒ (1) + (1) + 21 = 23
Thinking that went swimmingly, Caelem will open the door once everyone is in position and ready to mov eon.
Caelem Boreal
|
Caelem stops moving immediately.
"I am Caelem. I am an elf. Can you hear my responses?"
Assuming I receive an answer in the affirmative,
"I am here with the bearer of the sapphire sage jewel. He seeks the Sanctum of the Sages--we seek to assist him, and to learn. We are members of the Pathfinder Society, a college of warrior-scholars. I am pleased to make your acquaintance."
Diplomacy, if you need it: 1d20 + 1d6 + 15 ⇒ (17) + (6) + 15 = 38
Caelem bows.
Thorek Stonebeard
|
Thorek froze. There was a voice in his head? That wasn’t ideal. He didn’t even like his own voice in his head, let alone someone else’s. Seeing Caelem bowing, he assumed that the elf had heard something similar. So he folded his arms and waited, deigning to think about the drinks he’d rather be drinking than being in the desert.
Tholgrin Stonebeard
|
Tholgrin also follows Daniel and Amenopheus, not noticing the odd behaviour of Thorek and Caleem.
"It's so beautiful!"
Weit Flagg
|
Weit simply stops when the elf did. Walking ahead where all the dangers were was not one of the things he joined the society for.
GM Qstor
|
The voice replies to Caelem "Ah...welcome to the glory of the sanctum. Pass with the honored sapphire sage"
In the back Kafar and Nefti seem puzzled.
The voice repeats its call to Thorek.
Thorek Stonebeard
|
”Name’s Thorek. Clan Stonebeard. I’m a dwarf. I’m here with the sapphire sage jewel. Y’see, I’m oathbound to the Pathfinder Society. Group dedicated to preserving and understanding history. Let me in, eh?
Caelem Boreal
|
"I...believe we have permission to proceed." Caelem looks at Amenopheus with a raised eyebrow, to see if he had similar communication with the voice.
Tholgrin Stonebeard
|
"I am Tholgrin stonebeard of Highhelm, mentee of Paufery Thunderiron, and member of the Scarab Sages. I am here with the Diamond Sage to unlock the knowledge of the sage jewels and restore the order of the Jeweled Sages to their former glory"
Tholgrin stops and thinks furiously, but continues on with Amenopheus unless he is struck down or something of the sort
Weit Flagg
|
Unable to know what went through the other Pathfinders heads, Weit quickly gave the "business" answer to the question although verbally as he didn't like to think there was someone reading his mind (although if it had to ask the halfling would assume it couldn't)
"We're pathfinders on a mission... from him!" With him being Amenopheus who he pointed to who he also waited for to take the lead.
Caelem Boreal
|
"Very well."
Caelem opens the north door and enters.
Spackle McGapfiller
|
"I should think they mighten wanta come with us. Safety 'n numbers 'n all." Than, with a wry smile, Asides, Ah'm thinkin' whatever's bein' in here is lots less scary than returnin' ta Torch after lettin' 'im down. We're proly the safest option they got. Ain't that right fellas?"
Tholgrin Stonebeard
|
Tholgrin considers the two ex Aspis agents. "They are aspis agents and not to be trusted, but I don't know that they have committed any crimes. If they give their word to help and not oppose us, I have no problem with their joining us, or with their staying, just as Thorek said."
When that's taken care of he proceeds cautiously forward down or up? the stairs, allowing Caleem to take the lead to look for traps, but looking out for them as well himself.
Perception: 1d20 + 5 + 3 ⇒ (9) + 5 + 3 = 17
Caelem Boreal
|
Caelem walks up the stairs, alert for traps.
Perception: 1d20 + 1d6 + 17 + 2 ⇒ (11) + (1) + 17 + 2 = 31
Caelem Boreal
|
Sense Motive: 1d20 + 1d6 + 15 ⇒ (6) + (4) + 15 = 25
"Why don't you two wait here?" Caelem says to Kafar and Nefti.
Caelem will then drink an extract of shield and climb to the top of the stairs.
Tholgrin Stonebeard
|
Tholgrin moves cautiously along with Caeleem, taking the moment when he drinks his extract to concentrate and cast a spell of shield too.
Thorek Stonebeard
|
Seeing everyone cast their spells, Thorek called for the divine favor of Kols as he followed.
Divine Favor And See Invisibility active
GM Qstor

Peering around the corner Caelem sees:
Two curved ramps ascend gently from one end of this
semicircular room toward its northwest entrance. More than
a dozen statues line the intricately painted walls, and all face
toward an immense crystal that projects from the southeast
wall. The statues are carved in the Osiran fashion, some
bearing the heads of animals, and many holding objects like
staves, ankhs, oil lamps, and scepters in their supple marble
hands. Four engravings in the likeness of gemstones are set
into shallow circular recesses in the floor arrayed before the
huge jewel.
Kafar and Nefti wait nervously behind in the other room.
Caelem Boreal
|
"Careful, now" Caelem whispers to the others, before drinking an extract of acute senses.
Perception for traps: 1d20 + 1d6 + 19 + 10 ⇒ (20) + (2) + 19 + 10 = 51
Caelem will walk forward, and inspect the gem.
Perception: 1d20 + 1d6 + 17 + 10 ⇒ (9) + (5) + 17 + 10 = 41; +2 vs. traps.
Assuming he doesn't see anything out of the ordinary, he'll then inspect the statues carefully.
Perception: 1d20 + 1d6 + 17 + 10 ⇒ (9) + (6) + 17 + 10 = 42; +2 vs. traps.

lots happening now!
Amenopheus steps behind Caelem now. "I believe I have the key to the crystal doorway." He walks towards the crystal and tries the key that he has.
As the key touches the crystal, the crystalline doorway suddenly flashes with a great bright light. When the light fades, Amenopheus is trapped within a crystalline prism like an insect sealed in amber, and the four oil lamps held by the statues have lit with bright white light. At the same time, a spoken message in Ancient Osiriani echoes through the room:
Each statue holds a staff, ankh, or other object in one hand,
but also has one free hand. "Check" the room description above too.
portray many scenes of Garundi scholars carrying
Osirian treasures, using architectural tools, surveying a
mountain range, cutting gems, and receiving gifts from
three supernatural figures. One of these
figures is Nethys depicted in an archaic style;
ancient Osirian god of architecture and inventions, and
Thoth, the god of wisdom and writing.
like Amenopheus.
Osiriani fashion when cutting four different precious
gems: sapphire, emerald, topaz, and ruby respectively
from southwest to northeast. You know that the common colors for these
gems are blue, green, yellow, and red respectively.
(nature):
Three statues shift at the same moment the Ruby Sage is trapped in the crystal. They move slightly towards the party.
there's two "types" of creatures
just to be "clear" this is a puzzle as well as a combat
Combat!
Pathfinders are up!
Daniel Thrace
|
Knowledge: Nature: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (17) + 7 = 24
Daniel yells, "WOAH! What the crap!!!"
As his adrenaline pumps and he reaches for his bow, he notices something odd and stops for a second, "Look at the lighting here, blue, green, yellow, and red. The colors gotta correspond with the gems. Ruby to Red, Yellow to Amber, Green to... Emerald? Blue is gotta be Sapphire. We do have the Amber gem and I bet these statues will take the right gem or there is a spot to put them, but where should it go!?! And after that I'm pretty sure we don't have all four gems, crappity crap I shoulda payed more attention in that magic theory class I never took."
He pulls the Amber gem and readies to rush over to give the correctly identified statue the gem, hoping to solve at least part of the riddle.

I think some spoilers got added while I was writing up my post. I don't really know how to resolve my post since I was basing everything off the K: Nature spoiler and pure guesswork. I'll just wait and see how everyone else rolls and what they reveal.

That's fine. I'll give you a "hint" there's not actually gems in the room an Tholgrin will understand the message (with another hint) since he speaks the language. I'll let you "retcon" if you want.

What do the creatures look like, and what kind of knowledge checks do you want for them?
two look like "statues" and the other is a statue but looks like glass. Knowledge Arcana for checks.
Thorek's arrow hits but doesn't do full damage.
guardian #2 - 5 damage
Tholgrin Stonebeard
|
Seeing the Statues move, Tholgrin casts a spell to enhance his speed.
Casting expeditious retreat
He then moves in to provide a target for them should they prove hostile, all the while thinking out loud.
"As the light aligns, so too do the sages stand - What does that mean?!"
I think the group has gotten all the checks, so assuming we share all that
"The shapes before the crystal door match the gems, maybe we have to put the gems in front of the door, but we don't have the emerald gem, and the ruby gem is destroyed, Gah!"
He moves up to the engravings before the door.
Where is Amenopheus and his amber prison? Where are the four oil lamps, carried by statues?
GM Qstor
|
Where is Amenopheus and his amber prison?
he's in the central southeast of the room "inside" the white area which looks like a door
Where are the four oil lamps, carried by statues?
there's 2 on each "side" of the room. I marked them with lines
Remember there are no gems "inside"
The rest of the party is up. Daniel you can retcon your action if you want.
Daniel Thrace
|
I think I've pieced it together so I'll take a shot.
Daniel moves up and places the amber gem in the correct shallow circular recesses in the floor arrayed before the huge jewel/crystal prison, "I'll try this first, if it doesn't work then maybe give a go at the statues."

@Thorek which one did you attack?
Caelem they're all constructs :) which one do you attack?
The glass golem has construct traits, magic immunity it's a mythic creature and has 10/adamantine and epic;
The medium sized ones are graven guardians they have DR 5/adamantine; construct traits; and SR 16
Daniel Thrace

With a surge of mythic power and a flash of red, the attack is deflected. The power shimmers around him and Daniel steps back and attempts to gain distance before carefully casting a spell. But... he was too careful and forgot to make the swish and flick motion just right.
Mythic Power burned to absorb up to 15 points with Absorb Blow which then gives him DR 1/epic & 5 resist to all for 1 minute. 5/9 Mythic uses remains.
