Is everybody okay with me having it then?
Arianna Moonwood |
Cool! Post coming in a bit.

Hey, GM? I think there's only one path here. It looks like that's a tunnel going under where we are now.
Evidently you're better at understanding maps than I am, no sarcasm. I thought that room had a connection to those other two, but you're right. It's a tunnel. There's only one way forward, so let's go that way.
Arianna Moonwood |
Oh boy. This is about to get hairy again, ain't it?
Arianna Moonwood |
So, looking over my sheet here and on DnD Beyond, I seem to have goofed and not leveled Arianna completely to 3rd. I'll be fixing that this weekend if I can remember.
I will say that I did think about doing the Valor College, but then I thought about how I play Arianna, and realized I didn't want to put up with the disadvantage on stealth rolls and I wouldn't get as much out of it since I already have proficiencies in all of the weapons she'll be using. That's why I went with Lore insted.
That said, I think the next time we level, I will be looking long and hard at grabbing some armor proficiency.
Arianna Moonwood |
Not really. Still a +5. Now, when we hit fourth that will change, possibly, but she's more effective with a sword at the moment than a bow.

Breastplate does not give disadvantage on stealth.

How else are you supposed to play Trevor Bellmont? :P
DM Red |
We can see down into the pit from the ledge, right? It's just the bars are on the stairs.
Yep, you got it.
Eska, if you look at the map, you'll see the drake scene/ritual is happening in the pit below. It's shadowy, but you have darkvision.
You can choose to go right past it and continue on, if you wish.

I thought I'd ask how everyone is doing during this tough time. I hope you were able to keep your jobs and that you're in good health. I'm working from home full-time now. It's been a little odd, having work days blend into each other and even blend into weekends, where I can't really go out because there's nowhere to go that's open anyway. But I'm doing my part to isolate and stay healthy.
Brax Dougan |
As of this post, I'm doing well. I work as a convenience store clerk so my job isn't one where I can work from home, but it also falls under 'essential'. Unless I get sick, I can't voluntarily 'shelter in place' by staying home. Also, I'm single and live alone. If I don't work, I don't get paid and if I don't get paid, I don't eat.
A lot of my social stuff involves my PFS lodge, but we're trying to continue on Discord and Roll20 with our events and I can do that from home, but the pandemic has cost me a 4-day weekend trip I had planned for this weekend and it's probably going to cost me my yearly DieCon convention that I go to in Illinois every June.
I went day hiking yesterday at one of my state parks. I was needing to get back into doing something like that for being active outdoors since I've put on some weight when I had my last doctor visit, so I'm looking at trying to do that once a week on offdays from work.
Overall, things are pretty decent and I'm just trying to be patient in knowing that in time, this mess will pass.

I'm a truck driver, which is considered part of the essential "Infrastructure". I've been working slightly fewer hours since, with less economy going on, there is less freight being moved.
But not a lot less. Like, I just worked 14 hour yesterday going to Indiana and back. ^_^
For anyone not massively satisfied with their job, I highly recommend becoming a truck driver. I did the whole thing where I say at a desk and had lots of stress and was chained to a cubicle (I was a Program Coordinator for the State), and now that I see this side of it, I can't imagine going back.
I just discovered Libby, which is an app that lets you borrow audio books from the library system. For my entire trip I was just sitting and was listening to new books about things that interest me (which, for me, is military history. I read an entire book about Thomas Jefferson and the Barbary Pirates, and then a fiction book about China invading the US, and now I just started done about Waterloo, and I've got one about the Battle of New Orleans waiting on deck!)
I'd rather do this than work any other job for half the hours. =3

Things are crazy here. I have two young kids and I still have my full time job to do which has not slowed down at all. I did introduce my son and wife to 5E for the first time and they both enjoyed it so we are adding that to the routine. Helps keep him off the TV/Phone.
Arianna Moonwood |
Just went to full time remote starting tomorrow. It's been crazy with everyone screaming for remote access to their computers.
Arianna Moonwood |
Well, it seems I'm doing a lot better today than I thought I would be. Still stings a little, but not nearly as much as before. Assuming things continue this way, I should be good.
Arianna Moonwood |
No worries. Take your time.
Arianna Moonwood |
No post from me tonight. I'm okay, just really tired.
Arianna Moonwood |
Hey, GM? Would it be okay if I made a change with Arianna? I've changed my mind and would like to go with the College of Valor instead of the College of Lore.
Also, thanks James. I'm sure he's gonna crit on me next round, just you wait! :P
Arianna Moonwood |
Okay, I'll do that after this fight is over. Thanks!

Oh no problem. Some of you may die, but it is a sacrifice I am willing to make. ^_^
Also, good call about that switching college thing! If only someone had suggested that the first time around! But that's a very good idea you have that you came up with all by yourself.
Eska Lethane |
2 people marked this as a favorite. |
You seem more valor-ey than bookish Arianna.
Oh no problem. Some of you may die, but it is a sacrifice I am willing to make. ^_^
And yet you name Eska as the last line of defence how cute!
I gave him a solid three rounds and i'm ready to give him a few more! Arianna you better do the same. Don't go down like no flake. Met i'm looking in your direction! Glass jaw i swear.

I can't put my finger on it, but this feels like you're being cheeky. Are you being cheeky here Atlas? :P
In all honesty, I have been thinking about it ever since you brought it up, and your right, she's far too squishy for the role she keeps getting into. Besides, the more I thought about it, the more I realized that she'll look good in plate. :D

While we are on class related topics as we near the inevitable "if you survive the big boss battle you level up"
Question
Are spells from other 5e sources allowed in this campaign like xanathar's guide to everything or sword coast books?
DM Red |
Well, I did let James have some fun with his familiar (which should have been an imp, but let's face it, his angel is way more fitting) and even choose a UA class originally, but nerfed his Lucky trait in return.
Those books should be okay for spells, I just don't want any third-party stuff. If something looks clearly OP, however, the nerf hammer may come out ;)
Eska Lethane |
LOL thank you. You guys and the GM are great to bounce off of.
I was actually supposed to replace my acid splash with shocking grasp when i leveled up, the RP seemed to fit with her focusing of lighting and thunder magics.
I tend to like very versatile characters and tend to multiclass. But for Eska i'll stay pure as a sorceress but continue to play her like a rogue that's my compromise plus it fits with her backstory.
potioning up again i'll stay out of the melee unless it really does fall to me. hopefully it doesn't come to that ;)
does make me warm and fuzzy inside to know that The-Bad here should consider me fodder, but needs at minimum 5 turns to take me down at this point.
Arianna Moonwood |
Thanks! Eska's a fun character to play with and I'm looking forward to the aftermath of this bit of the adventure.
My worry at the moment is that he'll get a good hit on Arianna, and boom, that's it. 25 damage in a round is not outside of the realm of possibility here. Heck, if he crits, that could do it.
All of that said, I was still tempted to hop up on his back and go for his eyes. When Arianna fights, she does not like to be fair.
Eska Lethane |
See James and Langdedrosa had a perfectly gentleman-like agreement to who falls and in what order.
Langdedrosa in fact broke that to attack me which invokes a penalty. You get an extra round before he knocks you down as was previously agreed upon by all parties involved. :P
Also Arianna do you have your healing potion still i've been going through the logs and stuff to see who has one still as we might need it here.
Everyone received one prior to leaving greenest on this venture
Arianna Moonwood |
I don't remember using one, so maybe? I'm terrible with keeping up with things, it's one of the reasons I've been drawn towards less crunchy systems and why GMing GURPS scares me despite me loving it for allowing you make whatever you have in mind
I mean, for crying out loud, I somehow managed to screw up Arianna's sheet and there's not nearly as much to keep track of in 5e as there is in PF.
