Okay guys, do we wanna fight, evade, or something else?

If we evade, did you guys see all the Stealth rolls that Ari and Eska made? We would fail those. And then things might go...poorly.

If we fight, we can do two things. The first is the basic plan, where we (I) attack at max range (120) and then they come to us. We'd hit them with the ranged attacks that we have for two rounds and then melee.

Mind you, there's a little "extra" we could do. We could add Kiting to it. Like, they'll Dash, moving 60 each round, and by on us in 2 rounds. If every round we attacked at range and then moved 30, we would extend that to subjecting them to a withering fire for 4 rounds AND, if/when someone wanted to retreat, he'd now be even farther away from the main camp, which would give us more time to go after him and stop him.
(Arianna could even work around to their back once melee is engaged, and thereby stop anyone from getting away.)

What do you think?

(sry, not doing this IC because of time.)

I think the ranged attack it's a good plan, I do not have a ranged weapon however since Orion took my ammo! My cantrips are 30ft range but everyone else seems to have a ranged weapon.

Hopefully we can fix that, Eska. Can you use a shortbow?

I think this plan will work, but I was hoping that we might be able to figure out a way to pass ourselves off as either new recruits or stragglers and bluff our way in. Sneaking in isn't likely to work for the reasons James brings up.

That said, I don't know if that'll work unless we agree to let James and Arianna do the talking. Brax and Raakuze are, ah, a little too blunt and honest. Even then it might be too much for them.

We do have three of us with darkvision, we could try sneaking in and out in the dead of night, but then there's the kobolds.

I wish we had some way of creating a huge diversion, but everything I can think of is too high level or requires too many people.

@Eska, but you can cast True Strike on someone else, which is almost as good...
...or at least you could if you were here! ^_^

We have two obstacles. 1) The rear guard, and 2) the main camp.

The rear guard we can't all sneak past, so we'd have to fight or talk past.

If we talk past, then they are still there when we confront the main camp.

My fear is that if something goes wrong in the main camp, like we get our man, but then something goes wrong on the way out, we can still just run away. But if the rear guard is still alive, they'll slam the trap shut on us.

So I'd prefer to eliminate them.

@Arianna. Heh, yes, you guess my plan. ^_^ With ALL of us together, James included, Brax and Raak can be with our party, as we pass ourselves off as some kind of...bounty hunters or mercenaries or whatever...and then get our man and get out.

So we're in agreement to start fighting?

Eska? You sure you don't want in on this? =)

true strike is a personal target in this game and 30 ft was well X_c

Do we have a shortbow for me to use? I'll circle back to the team in a moment unless you want ME to make a distraction....

As a counter to the fight them all strategy...

I know this is a little bit before Eska returns with the intel but based on the map maybe we should just circle around the entire camp, scale down the cliff and ambush the far most watch tower LVL 3, continue to descend into LvL 2, then explore the camp from there while trying not to alert the enemy to our presence. Might be safer because after fighting the rearguard our resources will mostly be spent for the day and eliminating them then resting seems like it would put the camp on alert status.

@Eska, one of the plans bandied about was to have someone (Eska) sit tight between the rear guard and the main camp, to make sure that they weren't warned. That seems like the kind of crazy/personal thing that she'd be down with, if you wanted to do that?

If they don't get a word out, then it seems like we could rest safely.

F Half-Elf CG 3-Sorceress (Blue Dragon Ancestry) | HP 19/27 | AC 16 | Init +3 | Passive Perc 14 | Saves: Str +1, Dex +3, Con +5*, Int +1. Wis +2 Cha+6* |

Makes sense with the timeline anyway if ya'll are rearing to go. again Eska is not a planner so i was bringing this up solely OOC. We can leverage the idea later if need be anyway once this is dealt with.

Is Eska heading back to the group then, or, as James had mentioned, just wait between the rearguard and the camp?

Let's get this started if the latter. I think Orion wanted to make an initial attack. Mind that they do have cover, since they're camped out within the rocks at higher ground.

the latter she'll forget along the way that she was supposed to regroup with the team.

Update coming at you today, I've gotta get the map prepped.

I noticed several attacks were made after James' - you may keep those rolls, but I'm going to roll initiative right after that first attack.

Okay, so we have two quests:

1) Rescue old dude, and

2) Get intel on camp. How big they are, and where they're gonna hit next.

(I may say this a few more times so that I can shake myself out of 'KILL DEM AWL!' mode.)

That said, I don't like our chances, This isn't exactly a group built for infiltration.

The tents on this level are crudely built and decorated with animal skills. You peek into one, and quickly realize the tents function as both kobold bedrooms and washrooms. The smell is overwhelming. There's little valuable in these tents.

The purpose of the pit becomes clear when one of the weary prisoners wheels over a foul-smelling wheelbarrow and dumps in the desicated corpse of what was probably a man.

We should do more intel on the guards and the slaves (i.e, number of slaves, where they are quartered, if the monk is among them) is my opinion Raak will do his best to see if there is a way to free them.

Arianna Moonwood wrote:
"Think we could cause a big enough disturbance that we could escape in the confusion? Maybe if we started enough fires away from the prisoners?"

So far starting fires is our best bet wen it comes to a significant distraction.

- we might want to knockout the watchtowers first.

- Intel may likely be in the text @ 2 we will need a stealthy person to infiltrate take whatever they can find then head out

At the same time someone will need to secure Lesion. and convince the guards to allow us to secure him during the commotion.

So three groups
- fire-starters (anyone)
- large tent at 2 (stealth)
- Leosin (Charisma)

What do you all think. We seem to have time so exploring the camp might yield us more options.

Do we need to free Leosin? Or can we get the information we need from him and still keep him tied up?

As for fire we should set the 1 st lvl aflame with all the kobolds...if we can free the other prisoners it might help to creating more chaos.

So we need to discover where the prisoners are and how many are guarding them. I can do this.

To start the fire you'll need a stealthy person to do it. So Arianna or Eska.

Male LG Human Fighter 2 (Calishite) AC: 16 | HP: 14/16| Perception: 14 | Init: -2 | Saves: Str +5, Dex -2, Con +4, Int +3. Wis +2 Cha+2 | Condition: Stabilized

Stay away from the big tent. If we need to get Leosin out of here walking Rezmir's command tent is only asking to make this more difficult.

Arianna should go with James to heal Leosin. If we cam disguise him might make it easier to escape.

Just saw these last two posts now. I think my post will change your plans substantially...

Male Dwarf NG Champion Fighter 3 |AC:16| HP:19/34|Passive Perception:14|Init +1| Saves-Str +3, Dex +1, Con +4, Int 0, Wis +2, Cha 0

We're screwed. Langdedrosa appeared to be capable of killing most of us by himself at Greenest. Now he's got a camp full of cultists to back him up. If we fight, we'll be slaughtered. Based on the situation, our options are:

1. Fight-This is tantamount to suicide. We'd take a few of them with us, but it probably wouldn't be the woman or Langdedrosa.

2. Lie-Some of us might have a chance at convincing the woman that we're with the cultists. Problem would be that those of us who don't would make those that do guilty by association, not to mention that Lang is probably going to adamantly plead his case that we're all infiltrators. Worst case scenario would be they kill some or all of us. Next worse case scenario is that some or all of us become slaves, but we'd still be alive and could attempt to formulate an escape plan.

3. Tell the truth-This would probably get the same results of not being believed if we lie, but for some of us, we may already be at the point we have nothing to lose but our lives by doing it. Either they'll kill us or make us slaves.

All of these are lousy choices. If anyone has better options on getting the group out of this, I'd love to hear them.

Male Dwarf NG Champion Fighter 3 |AC:16| HP:19/34|Passive Perception:14|Init +1| Saves-Str +3, Dex +1, Con +4, Int 0, Wis +2, Cha 0

We should also talk this out before we start making IC posts. I'll probably go with trying to have Brax lie his way out of this, although since they've already got a bead on him, it might not do much good. However, I'm going to wait until everyone's had a chance to weigh in on our situation before going with that.

Male LG Human Fighter 2 (Calishite) AC: 16 | HP: 14/16| Perception: 14 | Init: -2 | Saves: Str +5, Dex -2, Con +4, Int +3. Wis +2 Cha+2 | Condition: Stabilized

I'll hold my action until you all go.

While I do like the opportunities talking about this in OOC affords us in this instance due to the surprise of the encounter I'm abstain from informing the party how Raakuze will react.

All of those decisions laid out by Brax are reasonable and I agree with him have a good chance of failing so I don't think there is a wrong decision here.

CG Female Moon Elf Bard 1 HP: 18/18 | AC: 14 | Saves: STR +3 DEX* +5 CON +1 INT +1 WIS +1 CHA* +5 | Perception: +5, Investigate: +3, Insight: +2 | Inspiration (d6): 1/3 | Spells: 1st 0/3 | Arrows: 5

There is another option.

We could try to run. Odds are very slim, but it's possible some of us could make it out.

That said, I think we royally screwed up and we'll have to figure out some way out while low on resources. If James could clear a path or cause a distraction, we might be able to get out.

Alternatively, we could surrender. It's chancy, but we might have better odds of escaping if they think they have us cowed.

Unfortunately, I think Arianna and Eska are going to be in for a rough time if they survive at all thanks to their backgrounds if we go that route.

F Half-Elf CG 3-Sorceress (Blue Dragon Ancestry) | HP 19/27 | AC 16 | Init +3 | Passive Perc 14 | Saves: Str +1, Dex +3, Con +5*, Int +1. Wis +2 Cha+6* |

I agree fighting seems pointless

My vote is to lie and it's likely what Eska would do in this case. Though Brax it would be more believable to say we were looking to join them. Considering they didn't give us much choice last night and considering how handedly we thwarted them. Additionally, Langdedrosa doesn't seem like the brightest star in the sky for of of his strength so we do have talents they could use.

CG Female Moon Elf Bard 1 HP: 18/18 | AC: 14 | Saves: STR +3 DEX* +5 CON +1 INT +1 WIS +1 CHA* +5 | Perception: +5, Investigate: +3, Insight: +2 | Inspiration (d6): 1/3 | Spells: 1st 0/3 | Arrows: 5

There's no need to start a fight, as if a fight is going to start, it may as well be after we tried to talk our way out.
