Baraxx nods at Nik's suggestion then stops and slowly turns to the necromancer.
"You have a Vampire corpse just laying around too? You guys are crazy. I thought I saw some wild stuff in the Blood War, but you lot are a riot."
Nikrir Leldro |
Both Niks stop for a moment to consider how they ended up in drow city with a staked vampire drow.
I really hope that this Kestrod guy's info helps us set whats-his-name's back...
"Trying to keep a guy from getting a thing. Long story." they shrug in unison before falling back in line right behind Rinika.
...Tenenbaums? Tannin-brooms? Tenenbrous...?
Baraxx |
Royal Tenenbaums? Great movie.
Nikrir Leldro |
I don't know what it is, but I can still edit the Tenan to Tenen xD
I was just thinking of baum, like baumkuchen, which is a kind of cake my cute little wifey likes. Apparently kuchen is cake and baum is tree in german... or baum is trunk... or something tree adjacent xD
Looked it up, baum is tree and kuchen is cake. Yay trunk ring looking cake xD
DM_Delmoth |
You wander around the upper vault sticking to the road, reasoning that people to ask for the chant will be on it. Several estates dot this area which consist of fortified palaces, surrounded by large areas of open land, which is itself surrounded by thick walls. One of the palaces is ruined completely.
On the road ahead a drow war party stops and yells,
The war party consists of 12 drow warriors and 6 puma-like creatures with 6 legs and a pair of tentacles sprouting from their backs. You hear a large cat growl but the source is disconcertingly coming from a direction you wouldn't expect.
"Lunk" |
Lunk signs to Savi (and Rinika).
We’re here now, though. How would you answer?
"Savi" |
Savi stalls, “My big friend understands you, but can you understand me?” In Sylvan she asks if her Sylvan can be understood. Or failing that, what about the language of giants, she’ll ask in Giant.

"Ugh, displacer beasts. Try not to stab thin air, guys." MaNik comments.
Probably any that are fighting with house Tormtor, but we're not sure yet...
After a moment's thought, he turns to Rinika.
When she doesn't respond, he deflates slightly and says in common "Think I should just throw a fireball? Or- they asked who we're with. We could guess that we're 'against Tormtor' and hope they like that answer."
BTW, Rinika's sheet on mythweaver that doesn't list Elvish is up to date, right? Is Nik our face-man for this? xD
Rinika |
BTW, Rinika's sheet on mythweaver that doesn't list Elvish is up to date, right? Is Nik our face-man for this? xD
She does not...nor abyssal. She can try draconic or the elemental languages but I don't fancy those chances.
Nikrir Leldro |
Nik can try Abyssal and Infernal xD
Or Celestial, lol
We should all learn Dwarvish or something so we can avoid eavesdroppers...
Or maybe Celestial?
Baraxx |
Baraxx growls to the group, sotto voce, in common "I don't speak whatever that is, but do speak Abyssal. If that will help."
or we could just kill them and move on, who'd notice with all the fighting going on?
Raising his voice back to the group of Drow, "You speak common?"
I only speak the bad languages, abyssal infernal orc goblin, etc. No goody two shoes sing song elfy stuff here.

Baraxx grins as the Drow show their aggressive intent, finally letting his concentration free. Instantly he becomes surrounded by whipping winds and almost glows with a deep purple light.

Baraxx |
Baraxx swoops over and down, alighting just over the head of one of the slightly singed drow warriors, in range of both priestesses, intent on paying them back for their pitiful magical display.
As he swoops in and flares his wings his purple glow intensifies, and his empty hand reaches out, instantly energy coalesces into a core of gleaming stone in a blade shape, the edge begins to whirl as savage winds spin bits of rock in an unending whirlwind of rock and grit spun at incredible speed.
Imagine a Chainsword made out of magic rock and wind
As he reaches the enemies, he lashes out in a whirling slash over around and down at all the foes in his range, bleeding power and light as he does so.

"Savi" |
Savi shakes her head (which she realizes is a silly gesture while invisible). You coulda dined alone, she ‘thinks’ to the doomed drow who refuses to surrender or put any real effort into fleeing.
Rinika |
Rinika takes a light hop back, frowning at the betrayal exhibited by her fellow felines. She cranes her neck and evaluates the fleeing drow. She grins, pulls out a small doll, and casts a spell while twitching the doll around.

"Ah ah, come back here please."
Baraxx |
Baraxx roars in satisfaction as all the Drow in front of him fall to pieces under his blade, then flinches slightly as a crossbow bolt flies wide.
"Oh no you don't!" he cries as the coward tries to run from his waiting death and prepares to give chance when, suddenly and inexplicably his prey falls in some unknown and apparently painful fashion.
Turning to the group he had been travelling with he roars again, "That one was mine!", but calms slightly as he sees the carnage the group themselves had wrought, bloodlust fading as the displacer beasts flee.
He briefly considers giving chase but let's them go, they were just beasts after all, and running free in this place might cause more havok to these dark elves he had just decided he didn't much care for.
Settling to the ground and grinning a huge toothy grin, and folding his wings back in, he walks to the group suppressing the more impressive parts of the whirlwinds and glowing energy with an act of willpower, and barks in laughter as he reaches them. "Well, that was fun. What's next?"
"Savi" |
An invisible voice replies, “Fun?! It was a senseless slaughter. Whether they deserved it or not, they were weaklings.
“I get that they started it and weren’t gonna get talked down, but do we really want any part of this stupid drow war? Lunk knows their language, so he can talk the next group down.”
With some hesitation, she adds, “You guys do wanna talk ’em down… don’tchya?”
Nikrir Leldro |
Nik's cheeks become slightly moist with spittle as his shamblers stand by for more 'drow' or 'cat things' to come close.
Baraxx |
Baraxx grins in the direction of the invisible voice, "I've never been good at talking. But there is gain in avoiding combat, sometimes. I've heard there are planes where talking works, but remember where we are. We went through a demons goddess' realm to a race that venerates her chaos and evil. Talking, unless from a position if strength, won't help here. This mess might."
He then looks around at the bodies, "if we left any alive to tell the tale." he chuckles.
I hope those cats are causing a mess right now.
Deciding to soften his message a bit, he adds.
"Remember your impressive diplomacy at the gate only worked because you fooled those clerics into thinking we were there to kill their enemies. We are in the middle of a war ."
Nikrir Leldro |

Nikrir's undead |
Skellington the 6th's limbs repair themselves as the others talk; cracks slowly change colors from black shadows to red blood to white bone.

His strength increased from the magic, Lunk easily lugs one Nik toward the other.
