The door opens with the squeal of metal grinding against metal. The area beyond the doors is packed with scientific equipment.

Jade is away and I will bot as necessary. Vonash and Ueda, do you also follow Brass to the larger of the two ships?

Life Science rolls to get more information about the equipment.
Perception checks or Stealth checks as appropriate?

Glad you're still here for this part.

Jade:
Jade sees equipment she recognizes instantly--genetic sampling and storage equipment, DNA resequencers, mini stasis jars for holding biological material in stasis, flesh knitters, bone printers, and drop down surgical beds. There are also pieces of equipment she doesn't recognize but could investigate further. This isn't just a medical lab. Whoever uses this lab does genetic research but some of the equipment is far more sophisticated than anything Jade has seen.

Both Jade and Brass hear a voice from the room beyond. Ueda and Vonash do as well with a DC 15 Perception check.

From the direction of what should be the bridge: "....17 days now and conditions are beginning to deteriorate on the island. We are going to keep broadcasting and hope you find our signal. I repeat, we have crash landed on Long Porcupine Island sometime in the late 21st Century. Acadia work camps are not an option. We have families aboard and do not want to pollute the timestream."

Ueda:
If Ueda is at the ship when Brass opens the door and hears this too, then he recognizes it immediately from the swimming pool in 1968. He heard this transmission repeatedly while waiting for the Chariot to come pick them up. He also recognizes the squeal of the door that Brass just opened as the sound that rendered the broadcaster's voice indecipherable in the transmission he heard in 1968. You are now making the noise that you heard in the past--a temporal paradox for a future lecture if he ever gets back to the future.

Brass is going to keep walking with the group tracing the sound of the broadcast to its origin, he’s also going to make his way to the front leading the way clearing hallway after hallway.

Inexplicably, Dr. John's Right Place, Wrong Time begins blaring throughout the ship coming from every speaker in every wall for about 10 seconds. After it cuts off abruptly, a voice from the bridge says, "Dammit! Right button, wrong track."

Ueda does make sure to keep with the group as they move into the ship, his pistol drawn, safety off, and finger calmly alongside the trigger guard. The sound of the broadcast, this time in person, registers without reaction. When he realizes Brass has just created the sound he heard in 1968, the android pauses for a moment, reflecting on the singularly unusual event. But there will be time for those thoughts later.

At Vonash's request, he nods. "Do remember the pistol I gave you is nonlethal in nature. Do not hesitate to defend yourself if need be."

Beyond that, he remains quiet, moving behind Brass and checking hallways moments after the other android.

Brass leads the way toward the voice coming from the bridge, checking each room as he goes and finding them empty. The ship having landed on an angle makes walking difficult.

The ship is packed with scientific gear and equipment, but you see and hear no one other than the voice coming from the bridge.

When you get there, you see a humanoid in cut-off orange shorts and a purple short-sleeved shirt. You would say a 'human,' but his green scaly skin, lack of visible ears, and lack of body hair make it hard to be certain. The man turns as he hears you stumbling up the slanted hallway.

He stammers in disbelief for a moment. "You're here! It worked. That was fast; I just sent the transmission!" He sees your weapons and says, "I'm not armed." The tiny scales cover his entire face and all of his visible limbs. His shirt is open revealing a scale covered chest but also two very humanoid nipples.

He pulls his shirt closed, apparently embarrassed, and then says, "Oh. I'm forgetful. I'm Dr. Griffin." The purple shirt's microfasteners pull it to a seamless close. It reads "DeepWell Penitentiary and Research Institute".

Brass walks in and see this humanoid person and stares, perplexed at this strange encounter. He relaxes slightly lowering his rifle only from his should to across his chest, though he isn’t a genius by any chance he understands that this is creating some weird time affects and looks at the scaly man with a unfriendly stare, how do you know we would come, and why are you crashed?

"Well, I was hoping you would come. I just sent out the distress call now" says the man. "I was hoping someone would get it. I'm Dr. Griffin ... I know, I said that ... My colleague Dr. Moreau and I were returning from our research site when that hooligan from Temporal Enforcement attacked our vehicle. I'm not sure what happened. Listen, Dr. Moreau can explain it better. May I tell him you're here?"

He points to a button under a monitor and raises what would be eyebrows if he had any body hair to accentuate the question.

Brass nods with a skeptic look in his face like someone is playing a dumb practical joke that he doesn’t understand.

Dr. Griffin presses a button. Nothing happens. He pushes the button again. The screen lights up with the word 'seeking.'

"So, I hope he's not swimming ... Anyway, when are you from? We're from 2460 and would have happily stayed there if we hadn't been attacked. His railgun must have hit our spatiotemporal discriminator because we fell out of the Shuffle here in ... What year is this? Do you know?"

The screen lights up. You see the left side of a man's face. He's walking outside with trees around him. "It worked," says Dr. Griffin.

"Well, hello! I'm Dr. Moreau. When are you from?" says the man.

Since Brass is feeling skeptical, he should make a Sense Motive check. Everyone else can make one as well.

"We are all currently anomalies," Ueda states, as though saying the group are all people, but with less controversy. "The year is currently 2078, Doctors. We originally embarked from the early 23rd century. I am Doctor Immanuel Ueda. I would be immensely interested in discussing your own time and research, although doing so would not be without its risks." He extends a hand and smiles in much the same way as when he met Jade.

An excited voice from off camera calls out "Ask him if he is THE Doctor Immanuel Ueda."

"We'd love to talk about my research," says Dr. Moreau in a friendly, chatty tone,"Perhaps tonight. Why, just now, we snagged ourselves a wild boar and were thinking of having a feast. No reason to cancel our plans just because you're here earlier than we expected. Let's stay here one evening, in the armpit of all centuries, and gaze upon the plastic strewn ocean together, thankful that the past is the past!"

Brass:
With a Sense Motive of 8, Brass isn't getting a sense of trouble. Perhaps he is wondering if he's the only one on the island without a PhD or medical degree. There are certainly a lot of doctors about.

Vonash:
Something is wrong. Everything seems off about these two. They're hiding something. Maybe it's Vonash's telepathy acting up after that trip through the Shuffle, but she is certain something is off. Also, although wild boars did spread through North America as an invasive species in the 21st century, it's unlikely one would be on this island. They were still rare enough to see. It's not impossible but you're not sure if you buy it from Dr. Lying McLiarface. Also, when Dr. Moreau said, "we'd love to talk about my research" Dr. Griffin winced like he felt the exclusion in that pronoun 'my.'

But something is VERY, VERY, VERY wrong. Stay alert. Eat nothing. Watch out for gas. Maybe we should just kill the bastard to be sure?"

brass kind of stands there looking at the two doctors and “hears” Vonash in his head, it can’t be that dangerous she’s just a slightly crazy animal lover, I mean these guys are just more squinty nerds with PHD’s, And besides there is only one of them here and 5 of us we could take him down without much of a problem.

Brass lowers his rifle to his waist and relaxes a little bit sure staying here can’t hurt things, you said something about families on your transmission, where is everyone?

"The families?" says Dr. Griffin uncomfortably. "Well, yes, we ummm..."

He pauses looking obviously flustered.

“Friends,” Dr. Moreau says loudly, “let me ask you something.”

Moreau turns. The video display shows only the right side of his face now. While the left side was handsome and human, the right is animalistic with patches of fur in places humans don't usually have hair. He grins sideways with a slightly wolfish or doglike grin.

“… If you saw a bear charging out of that briar patch, you’d get out of its way, right? And, you might even be happy when the bear went bear-ralling by… hehe barrelling by hehe… But, what you have to ask yourself, friend, is what’s the bear running from?”

Well Dr. Moreau is saying this, Dr. Griffin removes his "Deepwell Penitentiary and Research Institute" shirt, the microfasteners releasing as smoothly as they connected. He then begins to slide off his shorts.

Roll for Initiative.

I know that "he then begins to slide off his shorts" and "Roll for Initiative" may not be phrases you expect so close together, but I assure you, it's not like that.

Dr. Moreau is communicating with you through a video display. I don't think you can stun him. Did you mean Dr. Griffin, the scale-covered man who is in the room with you and stripping inexplicably?

Oh, and I'll still need an Initiative Roll for Vonash as well.

Masculine Android Mechanic | HP 16/16, Stamina 12/12, Reserve 5/5 | EAC 14, KAC 15 | Fort +3, Ref +8, Will +0 | Init +5, Perception +5

Ueda had been happy enough listening to Doctor Moreau, and curious--and, he admits to himself, more than a little content--to hear the man imply some degree of fame. Vonash's telepathic communication is worrisome, though, and the android trusts her judgment. So when Moreau reveals his own animalistic face, seems to threaten the group with an impending bear attack, and Doctor Griffin begins stripping... Ueda calmly steps back to make a little room and levels his pistol at the scale-covered man. "Doctor Griffin, would you please explain the situation before my colleagues and I are forced to act?"

Initiative: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (10) + 3 = 13

As if trying to answer Immanuel's question, Dr. Griffin says, "Honestly, I thought it would take you longer. I wasn't ready."

Griffin's initiative: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (17) + 4 = 21

Brass gets to act, then probably Griffin, followed by Immanuel and any others. Vonash is planning to cast stun.

Male EAC:15 KAC:17 |HP:18/18 SP:14/14 RP:5/5 |Fort:3, Ref +4, Will+3 |Init +8 Per+2|Hunting Rifle+7, 1d10 6/6 /45 Soldier 1

brass moved to put space between him and Dr. Griffin while also ensuring no one is in the way of his shot. he speaks to the man, oh don’t worry we’re gonna act now.
shot: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (3) + 5 = 81d10 ⇒ 7

Dr. Griffin winces as the shot passes over his shoulder, drops his shorts, and then blends into his surroundings in a chameleon-like display of color regulation.

He isn't completely invisible, but is confusing to see. It will operate like concealment allowing a 20% miss chance.

Vonash, Immanuel, and Jade are next. I believe I'm NPCing Jade, but you can suggest actions for her if you want. Dr. Moreau will go last in this round.

Masculine Android Mechanic | HP 16/16, Stamina 12/12, Reserve 5/5 | EAC 14, KAC 15 | Fort +3, Ref +8, Will +0 | Init +5, Perception +5

Ueda doesn't hesitate once it's apparent Dr. Griffin isn't cooperating. His sudden chameleon-shift is surprising, but Ueda keeps his eyes grimly focused on the man. The color of those eyes shifts as well, from their usual bright aqua to a burning vermilion.

Move action to use my exocortex's combat tracking on Dr. Griffin. As a side note, in double checking the rules for that I realized I hadn't given myself a Skill Focus feat from the exocortex; Ueda's Engineering just got a little better.

Ranged Attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (17) + 4 = 21
Miss Chance 20: 1d100 ⇒ 4
Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 4

From what I've seen, most people do a 20% miss chance as 1-20 (not 81-100) and the target rolling. "the target must roll a 20 or lower on a d% roll". I'm happy to have you roll the miss chances.

Immanuel's shot misses as well, only because it's harder to track him now that he is blending with his environment..

Vonash is going to try to daze him, I believe. He will attempt a Will save ...

Griffin's Will save: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (6) + 6 = 12

Griffin is dazed! He's still almost invisible, but he's not moving.

Everybody gets another crack at him, but first Moreau gets to act.

Moreau says, "Computer: Protocol 'Dionaea muscipula'."

A DC 18 Life Sciences check and you can Google that.

Yeah, I'm personally used to attacker rolling, low is a miss, since that's what my groups have always done.

Ueda frowns as his first shot misses, and he attempts to adjust his aim before firing again.

Attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10
Miss Chance: 1d100 ⇒ 54
Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 6

"Dionaea musc...? Moreau, you bastard!" shouts Dr. Griffin.

Brass fires a bullet into the invisible man, who is now leaking color into the air as he tries to make his way across the room to the door to the bridge, which is beginning to slide shut. His blood exits his wound in a rainbow hue, but turns red as it splatters to the floor of the bridge.

Although he's leaking colour he will keep his 20% miss chance for any attacks.

A DC 15 Reflex save allows you to get out of this room before the door closes.

Dr. Moreau, bestial side toward the camera still, continues his monologue on the large video display: "You're right to wonder what the bear is running from. Because whatever comes out of that briar patch next is the biggest-baddest and you should be running too...."

Another round. Everyone gets to act. Griffin's spending the entire round trying to get to the door and make a Reflex save to get out. I'll roll for his Reflex save at the end.

Griffin's Reflex save: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5

As the door slides shut, it traps Griffin and Jade in the room.

Those on the other side of the door can still hear Moreau's voice, “Where are you going? … Guys? … I had a whole speech prepared. I’ve been working on it all morning and this is really inconsiderate.”

Multiple security locks click into space enacting the kind of safety protocol that protects ship bridge's from hijackers. The bridge is now shut off from the rest of the ship rather completely. Jade and Griffin are trapped on the bridge.

Moreau's voice is even more muffled, "Scary android person? Do you want to hear my speech?"

Brass is going to start to run around the ship looking for possible alternate ways in or a control panel.

There is a touch panel near the door that looks like it takes a code. Removing the touch panel (DC 12 Engineering) and then disabling the door lock (DC 18 Engineering) would be one way of opening the door.

This would take two rounds, at least. A lot is happening, so, if you take this route, please make your checks one round at a time.

If there is any kind of window into the control room Vonash would look through it.

Can she communicate telepathically through a door? If she can, she'll try and communicate with BOTH Dr Griffin and Jade and try and figure out what is going on

She could just use a communicator I suppose :-).
