...and there are a whole bunch of creatures who are immune to mind-affecting effects and, thus, immune to demoralize, so it's pretty easy to cut the bite of such attacks!

Antipaladin or Draconic Malice spell will help those out. Also Mesmerist gets some tricks too.

Do we have any of those? I almost went Mesmerist but ultimately decided against it. That said, I did have pretty great success building a regular Vampire Mesmerist some time ago.

I mean no disrespect to anyone, but personally the "advanced" and the "class" templates are not appealing to me. They seem ways to simply tack on stats and abilities, which is why I have avoided them myself.

I did realize that my math had been slightly off in regards to gear purchasing so I eliminated a couple of items, which has dropped the AC a bit. It's still at the point where I couldn't hit myself without a natural 20, though... and CR 20+ creatures would need a similar role so I think I'm going to shift a couple of things around.

I was actually joking^^

Oh thank goodness :P

I'll admit I've considered tacking on the Elemental-infused (water) template, given bronze dragons' affinity for water, but I found the advanced template to be kind of a boring option, and the class templates held no appeal. If I wanted to have levels in a class, I'd just have levels in the class, ya know?

Also we're getting so many feats I took a bard VMC. I think bardic knowledge + worshipping Irori is a very flavorful combination, and it's not like we're starved for feats at all.

I did some similar stuff, actually. I did go with Elemental Infused to represent having a connection to the elements in general along with a specific draconic parent. I went VMC Wizard on my Magus side to represent a deeper connection to the arcane, and I took Deific Obedience (Irori). Heck, if you have that, our hour of obedience can be tandem katas and sparring!

I took Paladin, Fighter and Monk templates to represent being a holy warrior from heaven.

My concept is basically Sarenrae's chosen mortal agent on the material plane.

I grabbed Sorcerer mainly to represent latent arcane talent, but one not well-explored, used mainly for a bit of supplement to his ‘main’ power. Essentially the idea was his sorcerous nature used to be more pronounced, but is now spent maintaining his undead nature.

Wondering how you all got AC into the 60s. I'm sitting on a 32Ac with a suit of +5 Full Plate. Interesting to say the least. Also my stats are only as follows:
STR: 36
DEX: 24
CON: -
INT: 26
WIS: 30
CHA: 30

@GM, I took a ring of 3 wishes in character creation. Would you prefer I trade in those wishes for stats or abilities to avoid gameplay shenanigans. I originally took it because we had so much gold, and at only 120k I figure lol why not. But the more I look at it, the harder time I have justifying that the character wouldn't just wish his curse away. So I'm curious if you let me use the wishes, what kind of room do I have to use to trade them in?

DEX + CHA (from being a sclade fist monk), dodge, natural armor, deflection boni, armor bonus.

Ring of wishes as well as wish spells are always a difficult item.
My take on them is they should be an ingame item tailored to specific solutions.

I think we have hit the arms race, with some applicants hitting mega high numbers.
So you feel like you have to keep up just to get a chance to get to do something in game. When your PCs ACs 30 and another 60+ unless the GM singles out the higher AC PC for plain. Your 30AC PC is going to just get wasted, same with skills when the GM is setting DCs higher then you can get just to challenge the mega high skills.

Balance, is why we set limits so that PC have a chance to shine.

I know some will say, "Your own falt for not joining the arms race" Well no, see going the undead / 3+ templates root can mean not getting the PC you wish.

Im looking at Str 26 Dex 34 Con 20 Int 30 Wis 26 Cha 30
AC 30

Just had a hole other idea,
Very interesting,

@GM, Did you mean what you said about being from another place.
I have whole other idea about a felicitating PC, I would really like to try.

You can have any race or template, but this has to be a character that can function in Magnimar, where the campaign starts. If you're some crazy race/template combo that would frighten 99 percent of the population, you'll have to be under constant disguise or something.

Hope everyone has a means to hide the fact they are Uber powerful undead. :)

You mean like being an alien?

In another we made the characters then looked at the bench pressing table and getting everyone on a similar level. Guess we will do that as well here. I'm already working on getting some numbers lower.

So what are we aiming for, exactly?

Also, when are we starting?

I'm going to withdraw from this one! All the best to all of you!

I actually think I'm going to back out of this one. The more I've thought about it, the less I've felt like actually playing it. I liked the thought exercise, but with how much work it took to make Iakyth originally, I don't relish how much it's going to take to get him on par with everyone else. I hope everyone enjoys the game, though!

@Cain- Fairly easily. Monk with super high wisdom and dexterity on one side, Kensai with high int on the other. AC was in the high 40's without any items.

I think, however, I'm probably going to bow out as well. Much like Phntm, the theorycrafting was fun, but... I think I'm too busy to devote the time I'd need to such a numbers-intensive game, even over PbP.

I definitely plan on sticking around in the hopes Seb will run this, but I've had to shift my focus to a few other PCs lately, including one for a RL game. Will get back to this character once done with those others.

I'm still open to running this but I want everyone to sort out the rules issues among themselves and then get back to me when we have a party of sufficient size. I'm currently running 7 other PbP games on this and other boards, so I'm not in a hurry.

I am still interested, but would be good with letting it stew for a bit... And maybe coming up with a bit different of a character, too!

I'm still interested. Even a bit anxious to see how so many different personalities will mesh in this campaign.

Yeah i'm still interested as well.

I'm still in,

But I think we need to even things out a little.
Just so players don't feeling like they HAVE to make a mega powered PC to keep up with the RPG-Jones.

So how dose this sound

POINT BUY. Keep as is
BUT place a cap in the higher stats a PC can have, Before Items and class stuff. Race+Buy+Template Max stat 30.
This is to stop the numbers getting mad, and players using a single maxed stat to power everything from AC to will saves. [Which brakes things].
Then add items, wish's etc. So you can go higher then 30 BUT you have to use GP or class things to get.

Templates
You can have templates up to CR3, [on top of classes]
That could be 3x templates 1CR each or combo there of 1CR+2CR or just one 3CR. I think this would mean some of the lower power Templates would be used.

CR0 Templates
You can have as many as you like, just for the fun of it.

Half-Anything / Advanced - counts as CR2
As they are really powerful.

Class [Fighter/Mage Templates etc
Fine, BUT they talk up one side of your PC Gestalt, if you DO you can take another CR 2 Other templates to CR5 Or use the last to levels as class levels.

Classes: keep as is,

FEATS Keep as is.

ITEMS Keep as is,
+ Pre-Crafting allowed [come on why have creation feats if your not going to make fun custom stuff/ But we are level 5 and so we can't make that much with high CL items. Combined items as per the rules on costing +150% etc.

Not sure wether i understand some of your sentences correctly or not Panic. Are you on a mobile device or something?

I like the idea of this.

Bench pressing by the numbers is a very good orientation.
We should agree on a powerlevel there, which then reflects AC, damage, to hit, DCs, saves and everything else.
That's very good for the GM as well, because all are on a similar level then and we have some sort of balance.

This table shows the numbers per level.

Probably it's best when we aim for green instead of blue, with perhaps some points in blue, but blue means more or less autosuccess mostly.

Level range i would say class level 5 + overall CR3 template, maybe another +CR2 for high stats and gold.
That should put is in the level 10 range.

Currently i'm inclinced to take human or half-Elf as a race, but i was on the search for some special abilities. That's what i want from templates as well, some more versatility. I'll take a look.

Thats a really good tool, Ken
And helpful and the upper range can be used to see
how a group of players will match in Balance.

Level10 equivalent using them as limiting ranges
That seems like a very good range.

If a PC us beyond this range the GM has a real problem, taking care not to under challenge higher ranked player/PC and over challenge lower maxed PCs.

One hit kills or no fun for a party. With half the PCs standing in dragon fire like its nothing and the others burning to death.

This is all about Balance, so no one is left behind and this power level.

Balance is the main point i daresay.
Everyone can have crazy abilities and stuff, as long as it is balanced partywise and the GM has a tool to create good encounters.
That ensures everyone including the GM has fun and nobody gets too dominant in any way, which is also important.

I think the GM has made clear we as players have to agree on PC balance.

So if anyone is still wanting to play this, lets hear what your think.
If we can get a wide agreement then we can work to that.

But while we have PCs with massive differences in core things [Not crazy abilities] Like Stat's and AC, we will have a miss-match and imbalance.

What I am saying is we can't just load all this on the GM, we have to do some work as well, to make things balanced.

If we don't this will be nothing more than an exorcise in making PCs with crazy abilities.

I'm looking at this situation again, and I think currently that I'd like to go a different direction to resolving this, as slowly adjudicating new build rules is going to take several additional months.

Ergo, I'd like to have a summary of everyone who has a completed character and see if we have enough to get started.

I just want everyone to finish their character on their own without reference to anyone else. You just have to decide in your own heart whether your cheese justifies your fluff such that I'll accept it.

If we have at least 5 players, I'll get started within the week. Everyone else can continue building and join later.

Give me an updated post with an Alias if you have a finished character.

Very well. I think that the current Ronodin isn't too far above what GM Panic outlined above, and, as has been my plan all along, I will reduce stats and numbers as needed to not outshine everyone else.

Ronodin is a fairly typical 'knowledge is power' character, and strongly seeks to find magical items and to grow his own abilities such that he becomes a master mage. In-combat, he focuses on debuffing single targets, crippling them and removing them from the combat, but can also do mass debuffing or blasting if needed. Typical Wizard stuff, except that he can also use Possession at-will, giving himself a meat shield.
Out of combat, he's a master at Knowledge skills and general intelligence-based skills.

Thanks GM, and thanks, that makes it simple and we have something clear we can do as well.

My New PC
IMAGE HERE OF THE SAPPHIRE LIGHT

The Sapphire Light
Is an
Race: Augmented Advanced Robot Android
Class :Bonded Investigator - Techslinger GunSlinger [L5/L5]
Familiar The Iron Orchid
An intelligent Item, that acts as a base/craft for any party.

An Android sniper that uses a very big gun and has intelligent flying craft

The Sapphire Light
Is a long range specialist, A Sniper, with good Kn skills and even stats across the board. She is a generalist and most of all a party fasilitator,
She can disarm straps, Do healing, and Navigate/drive/pilot.

She is from the Iron God/s path/background and is as pour an Androffan construct as I could make. Given build rules. I did not want to go the tagged on undead root, so went the Construct root, with weaknesses and all

The BIG thing about him is that Her bonded familiar is an Intelligent robot craft, thats a NPC 'Trope' to ferry the party around. It struck me that we would only be level 5 and would need a means to get around. So I made a pc that had a device that could help the party do so. It's not mean to go into dungeons and fight, it an NPC craft that takes party from A to B. This craft would be under the supervision of the GM, it dose not go into space, move faster than say a flying boat, to act as a tank. Its a moving base and thats about it. I will work with the GM to make it fit whet the GM has in mind. But this has been green lit by the GM as an idea. As has my new PC.

Created an alias, made some modifications, pretty much ready.

GM PANIC

This is The Sapphire Lights Alt
IMAGE HERE

She has been making a living for a very long time just ferrying parties and rich clients around Golarion on in a kind of flying party boat come casino, known as the Iron Orchid [See below] This is where her wealth comes from, her collected influence, and contacts. Also the add balls she has meet along the way.
She is very well connected, and seems to be bound to her home, the two having heated arguments at times, in a very relationship sort of way. Some have speculated they are an item.

GM PANIC

This is her Familiar
The Iron Orchid Alt
IMAGE HERE

The Iron Orchid is, he would say, The Sapphire light's better half. They have been together for a very long time and She would be nothing with out him, he knows this.
He will insist he is an AI NOT anything as base as an intelligent item. "Your thinking singing swords" he would say. "Im not a party trick, I have refinement and class"
If an AI can be a snob, then its the The Iron Orchid. Who has been known to open a trapdoor on a rude guest before. Dumping them unceremoniously onto what ever contentment or sea he happens to be hovering over. he dose not 'do' war or Politics, 'Base things for the lower classes' he would say. Do he and Sapphire make a living as hosts and well having a good time.

The idea is the two work as a team, with both thinking they are the controlling parter. Orchid gets them around and Sapphire goes to places it can't getting stuff they both need. They have drawbacks that kink them together as such. I am going to be simplifying them down to reflect this, going forward. I don't expect her to outshine anyone, unless you need to shoot something a long long way away. :)

I just really like this idea over a single do all PC. :)

I'm still interested. I'm going to change a couple things about Cain's fluff though. I had most of it typed out, and then when I reread it, realized I'd started to get away from the character I wanted to play, and had accidentally spawned an idea for another character for my homebrew setting. So I'm changing him up again.

Ready with this character here.
Changed up quite a bit.

I have to rework my PC some as well. I'm going to get rid of the Paladin template, as that boosts my saves way too high(I didn't realize it gave Divine Grace. I wanted it for smiting.) and just adjust and tweak things. Won't be ready for a few days, at least, as I was away all weekend without my laptop.

Seems like we have 6 characters at the moment.
I removed my familiar. Can be funny, but on this powerlevel and with so many people interested familiars and animal companions seem like overkill to me.

I made my familiar and NPC flying manner house/party safe house.

Just felt Sapphire was about right on her own.

I need to do a final pass and will have limited time this week, as I am traveling for work. But once I have some time to finalize I think I will be good to go.

The great metal mass that was the The Iron Orchid drifted along just above the dry arid land below. A head was an inn by what seemed to be a cluster of hot springs. Hi in the windowed main hall. A young woman, known as the The Sapphire light Was looking at a wall of lights. Small winking lights with a single blue at the center. She was siting on a large comfortable looking char. A book in one hand and the other resting on the bar cat. Which had drifted of asleep. It was a warm day, soft sun light was streaming into the mean bar area. Combined with stroking from The Sapphire, the bar cat had drifted off in cat dreams.

"So this is a distillery and you want me to go into"

"So I was told by the barbarian last week, Yes I do we need things"

Came back a voice from all around. The cat shifted.

"30 barrels of rice wine.."

"Yes if you do not mind Sapphire, we are running low, O and some meed if they have any, say 200 bottles, it's a good seller at the bar. Here is the list"

A small box on wheels came over, bumping most of the way. A single arm shot out and held a slip of paper for her to take. She took it then rapped it top. A metallic clanks fill the space.

"Can't you send one of you little tin boxes. I'm reading"

The orchid waited moment. Thinking to itself that sometime, Sapphire was hard work. They had been together for a very long time. Most of it buried under. Ever since... But they had agreed not to talk about that night. For both of them it was a little to painful. But it was burned into their very cores. Running in panic, ordered to brake form the others. Coming down on a strange world. All had seemed fine. Until their home. The mother who had carried them both across the darkness. Fell down and broken the very earth they where on. The damage done to them, the shattered land swallowing them but. Leaving them encased deep underground for years uncounting. There, slowly and with great patience 1st he and the she batch themselves up. Nothing like their former glory. He could barely move, drifting as a slow pace, just above the ground. She walking and able only to fly a little. But they had done well. done well to keep going and brake out of their tome.

For years now they had drifting from place to place. Running an inn, in the internal place of the Orchid, They Traded, bartered, trying to find the things needed to slowly fix things. It would take many years more, 1000s but one day, if his research worked, then one day they could even get home. But for now they kept going this way. They kept away from large civilisation, out in the wilds and bad lands. Where a good in was hard to find. Staying here a few years then moving. Right now they where moving and they needed to stock up.

"It has to be you, you know they can't leave the shell. Loss of power and all that."

Sapphire looked at the blue light.

"Ok, ok Im going"

She stood and the cat jumped away. Walking over the drop platform she wanted a moment. Then it started to lower her down out of the large structure that was from of Orchid. Past the radiator fins, Solar units, sensor grid. Down to the ground below. From where she now stood, she looked up. The Orchid really did look like a flower. A large metal Orchid, she always liked its from. Turning she pulled form a secret space, a blade belt and strapped it on. Happy she was armed just in case. She did the thumps up to Orchid over head and walking to the building. Once there, she knocked on the door and waited.
