Round 2
Cam gets distracted listening to Esmaralda's song and manages only a probing swing.
Inspired by his companions' prowess, Henric dives in between the two remaining Roadkeepers to get into a flanking position, doing his best to protect himself from harm. His tumble is passable, but no one would confuse him for a proper acrobat.
Tellanya steps up slightly, and thrusts out with her spear. But Tellanya manages merely to strike the ground in front of her. She smiles, and nods, "yes, that is true."
Kiley swings her greatsword at the next one.
Attack: 1d20 + 9 + 1 ⇒ (12) + 9 + 1 = 22
Damage: 2d6 + 6 + 1 ⇒ (3, 2) + 6 + 1 = 12
She cuts down another one before stepping into a flank with Stryn.
Stryn stabs the remaining bandit.
Attack: 1d20 + 6 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (14) + 6 + 1 + 2 = 23
Damage: 1d4 + 3 + 1 + 2d6 ⇒ (2) + 3 + 1 + (2, 6) = 14
The last Roadkeeper falls.
Combat is over.
Henric Drake |
"Is that all of them?" Henric asks, looking around the room. "Let's make sure that they didn't leave any surprises for us."
Perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (5) + 7 = 12
Esmaralda |
Esmaralda checks on Rodrigo to see if he's still alive. If he is, she attempts to stabilize him.
Heal, First Aid DC 15: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
Tellanya |
Tellanya looks around, "were there any treasures or secret doors?" She cocks her head and looks around.
Perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (5) + 7 = 12
Esmaralda |
Rodrigo is up the stairs, and he was stable when you left the room.
Oops, I missed that. In that case Esmaralda stays with the group!
Esmaralda |
Esmaralda looks in the room as well. Taking 20 for 29, plus assists by anyone willing...
GM Phntm888 |
The room doesn't contain anything apart from the now deceased Roadkeepers.

A listen at the door does pick up the sound of voices - it sounds like more Roadkeepers on the other side of the door.
Esmaralda |
Esmaralda grabs 4 acid flasks and 3 tanglefoot bags, saying "Ah! things to throw at people! that's great, since I'm not so good with weapons..."
Henric Drake |
Items have been added to the Loot List, with Esmaralda's acquisitions.
"Shall we move along?" Henric asks, motioning to the door at the end of the room. "These bandits won't get rid of themselves, and I'm thinking that the town will be better for it."
Kiley Sherrow |
”Don’t suppose any of y’all have some magic stuff to throw the door open” Kiley asks the spellcasters after hearing the bandits on the other side.
Esmaralda |
I'm a bit rusty on our status here - everyone healthy? if so, I'm all for moving ahead.
Tellanya |
Stryn should check for traps, too, if you don't mind.
Tellanya shakes her head, "I do not have anything other than what I've already used." But she will re-cast bless before they open the door again.
Bless is back up.
Henric Drake |
Henric smacks his forehead, "Force! Of course! That would be perfect for taking down barriers! Why didn't I think of that before?" He shakes his head at his own lack of planning. "Sorry Kiley. Mostly just a whole lot of fire, right now."
Kiley Sherrow |
"What about that spell that witch used on me," she asks. Her tone is a bit cool, and her eyes glitter dangerously for just a moment as she remembers the effects the spell that Mother Nightthrush used on her had. "Maybe one of us could throw open the doors and then take them down that way?"
Kiley Sherrow |
”You know how to use magic?” Kiley’s eyebrows rise before a smile turns the corners of her mouth up. ”You are a truly formidable woman, Miss Camellia. I know I wouldn’t want to face you. You’re probably the most dangerous one out of all of us.”
GM Phntm888 |
Stryn Perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (4) + 7 = 11
Stryn doesn't find any traps or anything on the doors, so Cam goes forward and opens them, and the group moves into the hall.
A stone double door stands on the western end of this wide hallway.
Halls leave this area to the north, east, and south. Before the double doors are five Road Keepers.

Damn right. I'm going to quote you on that one.

Cam strides past the first roadkeeper and into the throng. Red will get an AoO on her if he's capable of taking one atm She waves towards herself with her sword in a "come and get it" gesture before slashing at the second roadkeeper in line.

Round 1
Cam strides past the first roadkeeper and into the throng, who is so surprised by her maneuver he can't . She waves towards herself with her sword in a "come and get it" gesture before slashing at the second roadkeeper in line, who falls under her sword stroke.
Stryn darts forward to strike at the one in front.

Damage, Sneak Attack: 1d4 + 3 + 2d6 ⇒ (4) + 3 + (2, 6) = 15
He also manages to fell a Roadkeeper.
One of the remaining Roadkeepers moves to the door and bangs on it, hard. The other two step up and attack Cam with their short swords.

She casts Bless!

Kiley Sherrow |

Kiley shakes her head and chuckles at Cam's self-deprecation.
"Now, now. Let's be fair, and no offense to Ira, but I doubt she'd be doing much without you to help her, too. Am I right?"

Kiley sweeps forward, her feet moving as gracefully as if she were dancing. She feints to the left before spinning around behind the bandit that Henric had just scorched. Her feet, light as a fairy's before, set solid against the floor and she delivers a viciously powerful cut across the man's back with a snap of her sword.
"You really should give up," she says to the bandits still standing. "You might hurt us, but you can't beat us."

Stryn moves forward to stab Cam's target.
Attack, Bless: 1d20 + 7 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 7 + 1 = 10
He misses.
The final two Roadkeepers appear to be under orders to defend this room at all costs, as one attacks Kiley and the other Cam.
Attack: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (9) + 3 = 12
Attack: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (16) + 3 = 19

Tellanya nods, "I agree, we aren't supposed to kill you. You're supposed to give up. The signs are there." She gestures vaguely.
She moves up and holds up her hands in supplication.
diplomacy: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (3) + 7 = 10
But her statement seems more confusing than anything else.
I'm assuming diplomacy will be a standard action. Not bothering with AOOs because I doubt it'll matter this round.
If anyone critically threatens any ally - Tellanya activates "Curse of Faltering (-2 penalty, DC 13) (Su)" As an immediate action, when an enemy within 30 ft threatens crit, force reroll with Cha mod penalty (-2). A DC 13 Will save negates this.
Kiley Sherrow |
And I even tried to remind myself that was part of the reason I set up the flank. Oops. :P
Round 2
Actions:
- Move to Study Pink
- Attacking Pink with Power Attack
Attack (Greatsword, Bless, Studied Target, Power Attack) v. Pink: 1d20 + 9 + 1 + 1 - 1 ⇒ (2) + 9 + 1 + 1 - 1 = 12 I doubt that hits.
Kiley sighs as she parries the ineffectual swipe at her from the one in front of the door. There's no pity in her eyes as she evaluates the the bandit's movements between one heartbeat and the next, an instinctual awareness guiding her study.
Her stance sets once more and there's a flash of steel. Perhaps this bandit's skill of arms is better than his fellows as he manages to dodge aside from the killing blow.
Camellia Gray |
Cam rests the flat of her sword on her shoulder. "Not sure what Miss Tellanya is talking about, folks, but I do think the implication is that she would like y'all to put a stop to fighting. I do hope y'all'd take that advice to heart."
Diplomacy: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (6) + 9 = 15
Eh, these guys are a snoozefest anyways. Not worth my time.
Esmaralda |
diplomacy: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (12) + 13 = 25
"Alright, let's all put our weapons down and live to tell the tale another day..."
Henric Drake |
Henric almost complies with Esmaralda's sensible request, but then remembers himself. Instead, he just holds his staff in a defensive manner, on the off chance that they don't comply.
Kiley Sherrow |
Kiley looks to the others and waits for them to make the call.
Henric Drake |
Henric pipes in, "You guys are free to go where ever you like, as long as it far from here, and you never come back."
Camellia Gray |
Cam rests the flat of her longsword on her shoulder. "Sure thing. See, there just ain't any sport in killing you and there's even less in you dyin'. Just stay skedaddled and we won't have any problems. It's the best you're getting."
Tellanya |
Tellanya holds her tongue, knowing how she can sometimes get mixed up about things.
GM Phntm888 |
The two bandits exchange a look, then, cautiously, move past you, clearly expecting betrayal. Once they get to the doors leading out, they move through them, and you can hear them turn and bolt for the stairs.
You stand in a hallway. There is a pair of doors before you, that a Roadkeeper pounded on, and the hallway goes back beyond the doors you came in and turns left and right.
Henric Drake |
"Shall we head that way?" Henric asks, pointing towards the double door, "Or look around first?"
Kiley Sherrow |
”I think looking around would be good. I would hate to miss someone and have them come at our backs.”
Tellanya |
Tellanya nods, "yes, we will not wish to be ambushed." She gestures east towards the hallway, "though perhaps someone should cover the rear guard?" She hefts her spear, "I can stay in the back." She smiles at the others and waits for a decision.

Henric Drake |
Henric helps out with searching the area, hoping to find something to study.
Perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (1) + 7 = 8
GM Phntm888 |
Looking around the area outside of the double doors, you find that going the other direction down the hallway is another T-shaped intersection. To the right is an area with some bedrolls and a fire pit - it appears that some of the Roadkeepers used it as a sleeping area. The room's walls appear to be partially caved in, although not recently. To the left is a door.
Looking down either side of the T-intersection outside the double doors results in finding a couple more doors to the right, and to the left are two more rooms, both without doors.
In the first one, a marble table stands in the middle of this room, its surface strewn with alchemical equipment, sheets of paper, a few potions, and an ancient-looking suit of splint mail armor. A bedroll lies in the eastern alcove.
In the second one, a marble table also rises from the floor, and a small crate sits in the southeastern corner of this rectangular chamber. Cobwebs stretch across parts of the room, and debris and dust litters the floor. Kiley finds a pressure plate right at the entrance to the room - apparently someone set a trap here.
I cannot update the map from the office, as my work has blocked Google Drive. I'll update it by tomorrow morning, hopefully.
Henric Drake |
Henric touches the suit of armor, seeing if it 'speaks' to him.

"I wonder what Mother Nightthrush was up to down here," Kiley asks when they find the alchemical equipment and notes.
GM Phntm888 |
Henric reaches out and touches the armor, after a moment, he gets the impression that this set of splint mail is enchanted to provide slightly more protection than normal. This is a suit of +1 splint mail.
Meanwhile, Kiley looks over all the alchemical equipment, potions and notes. Do you examine the notes more closely?
