GM Xavier Kahlvet |

As much as the sadistic GM in me wants to say "no," as long as the other two (Zhu Li and Jordan) are fine with it then it's fine by me.
EDIT: I also added in the area of the antilife shell for ease of play.

![]() |

I had not gotten an update on the posts here since returning on the 27th, thank you to our GM for poking me via PM.

GM Xavier Kahlvet |

Since we’re approaching the end of the scenario, I’ll need Day Jobs from everyone.

![]() |

Perform (sing): 1d20 + 40 ⇒ (10) + 40 = 50
Not that there's any point to rolling nowadays - Arnaut doesn't have anything to increase the cap of 150 gp at DC 40.

![]() |

Day Job Alchemy: 1d20 + 1d6 + 32 ⇒ (1) + (6) + 32 = 39
Wow. That's just taunting.

GM Xavier Kahlvet |

Gonna say Jordan and Sahess take-10 on their Day Jobs because I’m tired of waiting and I don’t feel like doing the coding to actually roll for them. Expect Chronicles tomorrow.
EDIT: Aaaand I apparently need folk's emails in order to do the reporting properly because I decided to do the OSP for this chronicle (I could've with the previous one, but I was too lazy to remake chronicles). I know some people are iffy about posting their email on the forums, so if sending it to me via PM is better for you then by all means.

scorchedone at yahoo dot com.
Given that it's on the Organizer's page, I don't particularly feel that I need to keep it secret.

GM Xavier Kahlvet |

Alrighty! Reporting complete! Now, everyone, don’t forget to level your character up to 13, because that’s VERY important! I’ll kick off the intro for Part 3 tomorrow, to give you guys some time to level up and buy your gear. If you want to buy something, though, please post what you are purchasing in the Discussion thread. The point of no return for purchases will be (spoilers sarcasm) after you step through another portal in the Maze of the Open Road.

"What's the play, here?" Zhu Li wonders aloud, walking after Jordan. "What is he after? What does he gain from killing off half the Ten? Why not wait until he has all their names, make a clean sweep of it?"
”Fair enough, fair enough. The mission always comes first, however, I believe you haven’t been told everything. They won’t say why we’ve all been called here,” Adril says, “but it’s obvious the Pale Maiden is just a cover story. I’ve been… studying up on the Ten. I think I’m about to be promoted into their ranks. It was only a matter of time. My guess is that you’re here to represent my efforts as a Venture-Captain. I’ve no doubt you’ll make a very convincing argument for my promotion.
“Things will change between us if this happens. You’ve always been honest, dependable agents for me, so I’m telling you while I still can. After it happens, we will all be sworn to utter secrecy, for the identities of the Ten are the most treasured secrets of the Pathfinder Society. For now, though, I want you to know that I trust you implicitly, and I hope that you trust me. Once I have been made one of the Ten, even if we can no longer discuss it openly, I want you to know that I will always do what is right by you. Now then! Let’s get the show on the road!”
Well, the first two members of the Ten were objectively terrible people. Is Adril trying to weed out the bad apples in the ranks? Odd that that would include Kyalla, but perhaps her connection to Keel made her collateral damage? Granted, this line of thinking is quite a stretch for someone who seems awfully friendly with devil-worshipers, so this is more of playing Devil's Advocate.

GM Xavier Kahlvet |

...playing Devil's Advocate.
Get it?!

![]() |

It still doesn't make sense though. If he's trying to weed out bad apples, he'd need the rest of the information even more than he already does; you can't decide if someone needs weeding out without actually knowing who they are and what they've done.
It's bizarre, because he's not stupid, and he's not impatient. This took years, and dozens of cultivated agents in all the right places. So what's making him move now?

Folks were getting suspicious? Still odd though unless he suspected he’d get “killed” one way or another and wanted it for the breathing room? But you’re right - the suspicions probably didn’t start until he killed the first person, which means the timing is intentional.

1 person marked this as a favorite. |

Alright, so first and most important purchase;
600lbs (60 days) of Animal Feed (Horse): 3GP
Jordan knows why, or can probably infer.
Then the rest of my shopping, specifically taking place after I buy that because I'm petty.
Scroll of Wall of Sound (Wizard 5, CL9): 1125GP
Scroll of Heal (Discounted by DA card, Cleric 6, CL11): 1485GP
Putting Keen on my +1 Mithral Rapier: 6000GP
Making that one guy carry all that horse feed: Priceless.
Total: 8613GP
Remaining GP: 3761.5
Changing my temp scrolls around; I'm keeping Resto and Bless Weapon, but I'm swapping Dispel Magic, which Arnaut is infinitely better than me at, for Channel the Gift, which will continue to allow Arnaut to be better than me at dispelling or otherwise using magic.

GM Xavier Kahlvet |

I know the context of the horse feed and I'm dying!!! XD

![]() |

If I might also make a suggestion, perhaps a scroll of life bubble would be a good backup in case the atmosphere gets... finicky?
Would Zhu prefer we not ask about the horse and grain?
Funny that Zhu should mention dispel magic - Arnaut's improvements include:
5th level spells!
- Bard's Escape
- Greater dispel magic
New spells!
- Silence (swapped out calm emotions)
- Charm monster
- Virtuoso performance
New items!
- Belt upgrade to +2 Dex and Con ($10000)
- Wand: cure moderate wounds (20 charges) ($1800)
- Wand: dispel magic (CL 11) (6 charges) ($2970)
- Talisman of Freedom ($900)
- Scroll: mass ghostbane dirge (CL 10) (2 pp)
(And let's hope it never comes up, but Arnaut's butterfly familiar Paplio has spell resistance 16 now.)
Woo! Time to bust out the space music!

![]() |

... Don't we level at the end of this scenario? Like, end of Part 3.
Yes, a lack of curiosity about the metric assload of grain I'm making this random mook haul around for my horse would be appreciated.
And we're basically going to John Carter version of Mars, the air's breathable. But I could probably stand to pick up one of those anyway.
Scroll of Life Bubble (Druid 4, CL 7): 700GP
Also, since I happen to have a metric assload of grain... does Pathfinder have stats for a grain explosion? Just in case it comes up. You know, naturally.

GM Xavier Kahlvet |

Um...no. You leveled up at the end of the previous one (Remember, Part 1 was worth 2 XP)

![]() |

DING!
New Extracts!
Lv5: Delayed Consumption
Lv5: Spell Resistance
New Class Feature!
Investigator Talent: Tenacious Inspiration: When you roll Inspiration dice, roll twice and take the better result!
New Feat!
Kirin Path: Take 10 on knowledge checks to ID creatures, even in combat! When something you're using Kirin Style against ends its turn in your threatened area, expend an attack of opportunity to move INT number of 5 foot squares without provoking an attack of opportunity yourself! Nothing personal, kid.

![]() |

Akiton? Really? Duuuuuude.
Okay. Finally able to level up. My morning posting time isn't really working, but now that I've a computer at work finally (something broke, and then something else broke. And I'm a software engineer, so that's been fun) I can post there.
A few things to note about Jordan:
Swift action perform. He only has inspire courage, so Arnaut, if you want to consistently put something else up, we'll work. Otherwise, Jordan will simply perform so y'all don't provide cover.
Feat selected was Snap Shot. I now threaten 5 feet and can help flank. Expect me to cast Mirror Image more often.
I don't actually gain a 5th level slot. My Cha is only 18, and my archetype says I cast 1 fewer spell per day. This means I don't ACTUALLY have a 5th level slot until I'm able to upgrade my headband. As such, I will be spending as little gold as possible.
Also, to note, I have the following (not bought. Just have. Listing here for others to possibly use and/or remind):
3x Scroll of Haste
1 Scroll of Good Hope
2x Scroll of Greater Invis
3x Scroll of Restoration (1 for neg level)
2x Scroll of Cure Crit
and a fresh wand of CLW

I was going to post saying I might be slow for a week because I'm going on vacation, but now my grandmother has been hospitalized so that may or may not be off the table. Updates to the plan to come as I have them, but if I don't check in for a while it's probably because of something shitty happening.

GM Xavier Kahlvet |

Oh thank goodness! Good to hear that, Josh.
I'm going to be advancing the story on Monday because, well, there's a bit of time before the first actual instance of the party NEEDING to be leveled up to 13. Also I'm lazy and just want another day to myself.
Sorry about the slowness recently, guys!

ScorchedOne |

My apologies also, two people were either fired or quit (I didn't get an answer specifically) from my work. So whereas normally I am working from home, and can access my laptop and type up posts in between work, I had to go into my office and monitor people for the last six days. I'll get leveled up later today so I can resume posting like a good little dragon.

![]() |

Leveled up. Skill points to Diplomacy, Perception, and Fly. No money spent. Saving up for a better belt so I can hit things much harder. Improved Vital Strike. Another level of Dragon Disciple, giving me Form of the Dragon once per day. I am so excited about this you don't even know.

GM Xavier Kahlvet |

Remove blindness/deafness. Otherwise it’s a matter of waiting.
EDIT: Or Heal.

![]() |

I f!#%ed up my job exam.
I'll try to post today but I feel like hot garbage so no promises.

GM Xavier Kahlvet |

That does suck, Josh, and I emphasize with that—that said, if I don’t get a post from you sometime today then I’ll bot you tomorrow morning.

![]() |

All in favor of knocking the last giant out nonlethally out of spite?

GM Xavier Kahlvet |

I dare you to tell that to the raging bloodrager.

![]() |

The raging bloodrager can channel rage into that. It's rage-ful to spite someone. :)

GM Xavier Kahlvet |

Skald shares its alphabet with Dwarven (with some inclusions from Taldane), which is, funnily enough, a runic alphabet. So...I’m at an impasse on that XD
Also, would you qualify Zhu Li’s actions as “making a move to attack” Skelg?

![]() |

She's... talking, but very clearly ready for a fight. She's in third position (hilt at sternum, tip of blade at nose), which is the "lunge" position, but she's pretty far. Up to Skelg honestly.

GM Xavier Kahlvet |

SOMEONE didn’t give Skelg any freaking ranged capabilities! Oh, my bad, they DID give some to him—and it’s called TWO BEHIRS!!! Granted, I’m not one to talk, since I consistently forget to give some of my characters ranged stuff, but still.
Thrown weapons have a maximum range of 5 increments and IIRC an improvised Ranged Weapon has an increment of 10’. And because of his confusion Skelg HAD to attack Jordan! He had literally no other way to damage him.

GM Xavier Kahlvet |

Letting you guys know that I’ll be MIA from July 5th through the 8th—I’ve got a family reunion and I told myself that I’d put Paizo-related stuff aside for the weekend.
EDIT: I’ll get a post out tomorrow if Sahess hasn’t posted by then so that the majority of the party will have a chance to post while I’m gone.

GM Xavier Kahlvet |

Mind walking me through those damage bonuses, Sahess? You’re currently fatigued (Furious Finish) and you only add 1.5*Str. on your bite attack you get when you grow claws with your bloodline—which this isn’t, it’s from an SLA. Skelg would still be standing either way, funnily enough, but I just wanna make sure you aren’t forgetting things.
Also, yes, you could most certainly take another bite attack with haste.

![]() |

Fatigued I have in there, but I'm power attacking, and Form of the Dragon gives a +4 size bonus to str. If bite should only be x1 and not x1.5 I can certainly edit that. Also have Inspire Courage +3 in it too.

![]() |

So it has been longer than 12 minutes? Just so I know which buffs are/aren't, and what I need to do.

GM Xavier Kahlvet |

Okay, I need to complain about this woman’s tactics (since she’s 100% dead):
“Natalya lets her zombies get the drop on the PCs first, preferring to stay invisible and positioning herself in such a way that she can keep the zombies between her and the PCs. While positioning herself thus, she applies poison to one blowgun dart. Once positioned, she lets loose with her most powerful spells and shouts curses at the PCs, damning them to the Abyss for slaying her husband.”
She’s a witch. She doesn’t have Poison Use. Starts on the other side of the ship from her zombies, who explicitly try to kill the closest thing that moves. Has a 16 AC. 93 hp. And somehow cast invisibility on 7 people with only 2 of them prepped when she 100% had a mass invisibility from her patron that she DIDN’T have prepped.
Literally the only thing she had going for her was the fact that she started exactly 45’ away from anyone with echolocation by sheer coincidence. This fight had so much potential...
