Dimple inspires the group with her wry wit! Liet-Gar starts hacking away at one of the trees, the going seems to be slow but he always wanted to be a lumberjack!
The goblins each pick a target from the now more noticeable group and fire their arrows again. One at Dimple, LGZ & Fromagalli each. Even with the cover of the leaves, one arrow manages to connect, sinking deep into Dimple's side (4 damage Dimple). The other attacks miss, but the goblins do yell up to the fort to presumably alert them about the invaders.

I'm quite wiped from this weekend. Traveling with an 11 month old and 9 yr old isn't quite as stress free as all those travel commercials would have you believe. I should get a nice update done tomorrow and would really like you all to take some actions. Dimple, I really doubt that is the course of action the group takes considering Hardness and Tree HP are not on your side. You all may remember there is an easier option to get the goblins down to the ground, I posted it in my first round of combat.

Niza casts Enlarge Person on LGZ.

Fromagalli's sword zips out and back, goblin blood staining its polished surface. Clasping at his heart, the goblin close to him tumbles out of the tree, hitting the ground like a sack with a dead goblin in it.
Niza begins casting her spell, beginning the slow process to embiggen the polearm wielding half-elf. As I'm sure LGZ knows, this won't occur until right before Niza's next round of actions.

Kasvot begins the slow and careful process to put the goblins to sleep for easier beheading. Dimple jumps in and quickly greasifies the tree the goblin is perched upon. The goblin just barely keeps his footing and fires at her in anger. The other one, seeing fancy mojo being cast by the half-orc, decides to send an arrow his way. None of the arrows find their marks though.

Okay, so you all need to make a decision. Continue in round by round actions or drop out of combat and lose your short term buffs. I would like a vote either way and then a spoilered (example given below) next action in case you all stay in round by round actions.
Liet-Gar Zirulak

My vote would be to stay in initiative - but of course will go with the majority
Due to large size, guessing not going to walk up the stairs
Rushing towards the wall, LGZ looks for a decent place to ascent the cliff face. (Looking at climb, but if I can take the stairs, I'm good with that)
"Come now! They know we're here. Lets get them before they fully prepare!"
Will move as far up towards the settlement as I can
Kasvot Vaxt

Let's stay in rounds. Can LGZ ascend the ramp at his size? Squeezing rules, I guess?
Kasvot turns to the small goblin and twists his face into a wicked grin. "If you want to live, you'll leave now, and you'll run fast!!!" He leans in towards the goblin, displaying his teeth in all of their orcish nastiness.

Yes, squeezing rules would apply, but he could ascend the steps. Taking a brief look at the stone shelf under the fort it is obvious it is not a simple climb as the shale appears to be loose and crumbly.

Dimple scoops up the goblin's weapons. "Shoo! Run along now." The then turns to follow the others into the stone structure.

Liet-Gar tries to take advantage of his size, charging up to get to the goblins before they can prepare a defense. Sadly though, even while passively taking a look around for dangers, none of the group notice the trigger on the stairs. Stepping on a pressure plate, the trap is sprung and three jars swing down from above, slamming onto the stairs ahead of Liet-Gar. Quickly oozing out of the broken glass and covering the steps is a gross looking brown substance. Reflex Save please LGZ, thanks!
Dimple gathers the goblin weapons and moves up to support her team. Kasvot growls angrily at the creature, who takes the opportunity to flee into the woods as commanded.

The fort sits thirty feet up on a natural shelf of stone, so the stairs go gradually up from the base to a small ledge on that shelf. Single round move this action. Next round, will move 40 feet up the stairs which should put her 10 feet from the mold. She will also have Albis fly overhead when she moves so he is not near the mold.
| GM TOP |
Liet-Gar rushes through the hazard and manages to stay conscious through significant force of will. He ends up standing on a ledge in front of an obvious gate with a headache to end all headaches.
A piecemeal steel and iron fence runs between two wooden buildings. A seven-foot-tall wooden gate constructed from fragments of tower shields blocks a crudely cut hole in the fence, while wooden stairs lead down the side of the rock face.
The crudely cut hole is closed with the gate, fastened on the inside with a solid beam of wood across it. The wood can be broken (str) or destroyed (damage) or you can climb over the fence (climb).
As the rest of the group prepares to rush through the mold, a hideous goblin appears on top one of the huts and hurls down a vial of liquid... into the mold. It explodes in a blast of fire, which quickly causes the mold to double in size, growing both up and down the walls and stairs!

Would it be possible to climb up the side of the stairs, or do we have to go through the mold? If someone has a rope, (and after the way is clear) we can take 10 for the climb with a +5 bonus for the rope. I would be able to beat a DC 15 without rolling. Just thinking out loud here.
| GM TOP |
The stairs are secured to the wall and not supported by scaffolding, so avoiding the mold to climb up would require a rope secured somewhere up top or a very difficult free climb. Depending on where the rope was secured would determine the DC as it would either be hanging free or allow one to go up while bracing against a wall.
Kasvot Vaxt
|
"One at a time, we have to go quickly! Don't stop until you're through!" Kasvot begins the motions and whispers that all now easily recognize as a sleep spell.
Full round: cast sleep
There's enough room for Fromagalli to get past the mold safely with a double move, but then the top is too cramped for anyone else. LGZ will need to work on getting through the gate to make room. As long as we get rid of the threat of more mold growth from that goblin up top, we should still be good as long as we can get the landing clear, but if it grows any more, we're going to need a rope. Kasvot only has 12 hp; he can't risk taking more than one 3d6 of that damage.
Niza and Albis
|
Does LGZ have a rope he could hold over the edge of the stairs so we could climb up and no one would have to go through the mold? I think that may be our best option... That's my vote.

Those climbing the rope may take 10, there isn't any threat to them. Dimple gets... closer to the rope with a double move (I moved her piece for her). Next round she can actually start climbing. I'm only being picky about action economy because Buffs and Enemy Prep are on the line and taking the rope option is most definitely going to take some time. If wondering, most characters will need three full rounds to climb 30 feet up a rope at normal speeds.
