Dimple inspires the group with her wry wit! Liet-Gar starts hacking away at one of the trees, the going seems to be slow but he always wanted to be a lumberjack!

The goblins each pick a target from the now more noticeable group and fire their arrows again. One at Dimple, LGZ & Fromagalli each. Even with the cover of the leaves, one arrow manages to connect, sinking deep into Dimple's side (4 damage Dimple). The other attacks miss, but the goblins do yell up to the fort to presumably alert them about the invaders.

I'm quite wiped from this weekend. Traveling with an 11 month old and 9 yr old isn't quite as stress free as all those travel commercials would have you believe. I should get a nice update done tomorrow and would really like you all to take some actions. Dimple, I really doubt that is the course of action the group takes considering Hardness and Tree HP are not on your side. You all may remember there is an easier option to get the goblins down to the ground, I posted it in my first round of combat.

Fromagalli's sword zips out and back, goblin blood staining its polished surface. Clasping at his heart, the goblin close to him tumbles out of the tree, hitting the ground like a sack with a dead goblin in it.

Niza begins casting her spell, beginning the slow process to embiggen the polearm wielding half-elf. As I'm sure LGZ knows, this won't occur until right before Niza's next round of actions.

Kasvot begins the slow and careful process to put the goblins to sleep for easier beheading. Dimple jumps in and quickly greasifies the tree the goblin is perched upon. The goblin just barely keeps his footing and fires at her in anger. The other one, seeing fancy mojo being cast by the half-orc, decides to send an arrow his way. Liet-Gar tries to take advantage of his size, charging up to get to the goblins before they can prepare a defense. Sadly though, even while passively taking a look around for dangers, none of the group notice the trigger on the stairs. Stepping on a pressure plate, the trap is sprung and three jars swing down from above, slamming onto the stairs ahead of Liet-Gar. Quickly oozing out of the broken glass and covering the steps is a gross looking brown substance. Reflex Save please LGZ, thanks!

K: Dungeoneering DC 12 Brown Stuff:
This is Brown Mold, which feeds on warmth, drawing heat from anything around it. It normally comes in patches 5 feet in diameter, and the temperature is always cold in a 30-foot radius around it. Living creatures within 5 feet of it take 3d6 points of nonlethal cold damage. Fire brought within 5 feet of brown mold causes the mold to instantly double in size. Cold damage, such as from a cone of cold, instantly destroys it.

The fort sits thirty feet up on a natural shelf of stone, so the stairs go gradually up from the base to a small ledge on that shelf. Liet-Gar rushes through the hazard and manages to stay conscious through significant force of will. He ends up standing on a ledge in front of an obvious gate with a headache to end all headaches.

A piecemeal steel and iron fence runs between two wooden buildings. A seven-foot-tall wooden gate constructed from fragments of tower shields blocks a crudely cut hole in the fence, while wooden stairs lead down the side of the rock face.

The crudely cut hole is closed with the gate, fastened on the inside with a solid beam of wood across it. The wood can be broken (str) or destroyed (damage) or you can climb over the fence (climb).

As the rest of the group prepares to rush through the mold, a hideous goblin appears on top one of the huts and hurls down a vial of liquid... into the mold. It explodes in a blast of fire, which quickly causes the mold to double in size, growing both up and down the walls and stairs!

Would it be possible to climb up the side of the stairs, or do we have to go through the mold? If someone has a rope, (and after the way is clear) we can take 10 for the climb with a +5 bonus for the rope. I would be able to beat a DC 15 without rolling. Just thinking out loud here.

Spell Templates by GM Tiger | Citadel Core | Core To Scale the Dragon |

The stairs are secured to the wall and not supported by scaffolding, so avoiding the mold to climb up would require a rope secured somewhere up top or a very difficult free climb. Depending on where the rope was secured would determine the DC as it would either be hanging free or allow one to go up while bracing against a wall.

There's enough room for Fromagalli to get past the mold safely with a double move, but then the top is too cramped for anyone else. LGZ will need to work on getting through the gate to make room. As long as we get rid of the threat of more mold growth from that goblin up top, we should still be good as long as we can get the landing clear, but if it grows any more, we're going to need a rope. Kasvot only has 12 hp; he can't risk taking more than one 3d6 of that damage.

Sadly...no rope. I tend to take advantage of the class kits having them already and...well...core doesn't have access to those kits. I'll solve that asap

Gasping for breath as his hands clasp his head....the ringing nearly unbearable... "Stay back! I'll handle this!"

The growing mold sliding up the stairs towards him, he glances upward. "STOP THAT! WE'RE HERE TO KILL YOU LOT!"

Rage as a free action

Turning to rush inside, he stops short...puzzled by the thing blocking the path. With a grunt, the man swings his massive weapon down upon the gate.

Busy week, sorta lost track of this game. Here's a push post!

Kasvot begins chanting, preparing to put the dangerous goblin down for the count. Liet-Gar takes a might hack at the beam blocking the gate, chopping a decent way through it. Fromagalli bursts through the mold, hoping to just get past it quickly.

(3d6 ⇒ (1, 1, 2) = 4 Cold Damage Taken, no save, the reflex LGZ had was for avoiding the initial trap)

Delay
Dimple (-4 HP)
Niza & Albis

Round 5
LGZ (-20 NL HP, Enlarged 17/20)
Kasvot (pending Sleep Spell)
Fromagalli (-4 NL HP)
Gate (-8 HP, still secure)
Goblin

Bold may Act! I'll give Dimple & Niza a bit to figure out if they are doing anything this round before the goblin acts again.

Anyone in or adjacent to the brown mold takes 3d6 NL cold damage at the start of their turn. Moving through the mold also causes this damage, but only once, assuming you make it through and out of the range. The stairs do not slow movement, but are not straight enough for a run action.

Well, I think I have to wait. No room up top and not real skill at climbing without the aid of a rope.

Botting per wife's request, I'll move the round along in a moment.

Niza pulls a small stick, speaks an arcane incantation and a bolt of force zips out and slams into the goblin on top of the hut, leaving a large welt.

Move to draw Wand of Magic Missile, Standard to Activate targeting red for 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4 Force Damage.

The goblin yelps in pain when struck and climbs back down the other side of the building, out of sight but also unable to toss more fire at the mold.

Niza advises that she has rope and can have Albis fly one end up to Liet-Gar or Fromagalli if they wish to avoid running through the mold and want to take the time to climb.

Round 6

He then looks round for the rope and somewhere to fasten it to

Fromagalli heals up some of the pounding headache Liet-Gar is facing and the half-elf channels that into another hack at the barrier, chipping farther through but it still stands. Niza has Albis fly her rope up to Fromagalli.

Round 7

Fromagalli easily grabs the rope. Looking around he can easily tie it off next to him (move) or simply holding it for the group. Albis flaps back to Niza's shoulder.

Dimple grabs the rope and begins to climb.

Climb {Rope/Brace}: 1d20 ⇒ 13
Climb {Rope/Brace}: 1d20 ⇒ 7

Move Action and Standard action to climb the rope. If I can Take 10 I will, but I figure that under the threatening circumstances that would not be allowed.

Spell Templates by GM Tiger | Citadel Core | Core To Scale the Dragon |

Those climbing the rope may take 10, there isn't any threat to them. Dimple gets... closer to the rope with a double move (I moved her piece for her). Next round she can actually start climbing. I'm only being picky about action economy because Buffs and Enemy Prep are on the line and taking the rope option is most definitely going to take some time. If wondering, most characters will need three full rounds to climb 30 feet up a rope at normal speeds.
