Angela strides forward up near Kalkamedes and tries to imposition her longspear in the sleep walking man's legs.

Tapping her longspear, she adds "Haven't had the need nor the capital to upgrade him with magic. I'm also, sad to admit, not neccesarily the best with a weapon, so putting a magical one in my hands would be a bit ineffcient."

Dragging us forward. ;)

While Angela's aid helps it is not enough to hold the somnambulist back from the end of the hall and the greater part of the groups crashes through their line of forward scouts.

Leading the charge now Kalkamedes issues the group's sonorous battle cry as he pivots to walk down the stairs. "Zzzz.... Zzzz.... **SNORT** Zzzz...."

At present, Sleeping has his wand still in his hand after having successfully using it on himself.

The noise of the snoring echos though the space that opens at the bottom of the steps. To the west stands a statue of an elderly, robed man carved from the same dark stone, and in his hand he brandishes a slender golden wand that points toward the door. Ancient script winds around the statue’s round base, and dried leaves, dirt, and small animal bones are scattered about the room. Something large shuffles forward out of the dark. And then something else does too. In the light shown by Kalkamedes they look like horse-sized versions of Stinky, but with much fluffier tails. The one in the back's tail suddenly tenses and suddenly it seems to be drizzling on Kalkamedes. A terrible smell hangs in the air.

Once your character can see the creatures they can make a knowledge (nature) check and open all the spoilers that apply.

Knowledge (nature) DC 8+:
You have stumbled upon a den of giant skunks! They are like the normal-sized animal just much much larger.

Knowledge (nature) DC 13+:
Like other skunks and stink-badgers this variety of giant skunk can spray threats with a nauseating musk.

Knowledge (nature) DC 18+:
Giant skunks are more aggressive than their smaller cousins especially when defending their dens where they fight more like their den-dwelling cousins--badgers and wolverines.

Kala can drag Kalkamedes back 5 feet into either Lynn or Rhinshin's spaces which is technically not allowed in a combat situation leaving him in the first legal space from his initial starting position--also called his starting position. Since neither PC has taken their turn yet we can retroactively move Kalkamedes back into one of their spaces if either of them move out of the way, but they do have to move first.

I suspect that display of deadly archery has done for the giant stinkies. If Almaas needed Sleeping Sword to move aside to take those shot, Sleeping Sword will step down the stairs. Indeed.

The last skunk slumps to ground on top of its companion.

END COMBAT!

Kalkamedes scrambles forward down the stairs, nearly dragging Sleeping Sword down with him. He climbs over the downed skunks and toward the room's only other entrance--a massive set of iron double doors engraved with interlocking spiraling patterns that block passage to the east and rest upon a dais of glistening black stone. To the west stands a statue of an elderly, robed man carved from the same dark stone, and in his hand he brandishes a slender golden wand that points toward the door. Ancient script winds around the statue’s round base, and dried leaves, dirt, and small animal bones are scattered about the room.

Inscription - Thassilonian or Linguistics (DC 20):
“Those that would dare believe they are strong enough to oppose us shall learn that their strength is their weakness and our weaknesses are our very strengths.”
