No choices for pallies at 2, but I do get Lay on Hands and bonuses to saves.
Did swap out the 'give someone a +1' trait because I thought it'd be useful out of combat, but it's really intended for in combat, imo. Took one that reduced acp instead. Kept Skill Focus Climb because there are probably trees in the jungle.
Took my gear to the blacksmith to get some of it masterworked, also bought some mundane stuff.

Learning Skald, you say ;^) Would get funny for one person to have a limited skill of the language. Even more opportunities for mischief if Fain understands a few words and a bit of the grammar, but is far from fluent ;^)

Anyway, Thrym's numbers are done. Plenty of gold to spend since I didn't really have a lot of expensive gear to get, but I figure he can spend much of the remaining money on jungle exploration provisions once we get the full mission briefing.

That's what I'm thinking - maybe two or three levels before he's competent. Fain's only just learned Teldane. Especially with you having some grasp of the language and me using a translator - I'm looking forward to it.

Fun and easy way to simulate bad language skills is to use google translate multiple times... write out what you intend to say in English, then translate that via, say, Japanese to Spanish to Swedish, then post that Swedish result as the Skald translation and translate it one final time back to English, and post both what you intended to say and what Thrym actually hears you say ;^)

This worked great in one Sci-Fi game for a fellow playing an alien with a very basic understanding of English. Many fun times with the constant misunderstandings.

Tropical Kits cost 120 and come with 1 dose each of antiplague and antitoxin, five fishhooks, a hammock, a kukri, 1 dose of vermin repellent, and a water purification spongeUE.

Herbs that can be gathered in jungles using Craft Alchemy include:
Goblinevine DC-16/1dose, itching bomb but need Sleight of Hand to prepare it
Leechwort DC-16/1d4 doses, +1 to various heal checks or +2 to heal check to staunch bleeding.
Nightsage DC-14/1 dose good for necromancers to protect undead from Positive energy

I think Thrym will invest 100G in an Antidote Kit - it gives a +3 bonus on Heal checks to treat poisoned characters. Good general item, since an antitoxins need to be targeted at a specific poison, and we don't know what manner of spider or snake is gonna bite us.

Water purification shouldn't be an issue, since Thrym has Create Water as an orison. Also, if we were getting camping gear courtesy of our sponsor, we can likely ignore that... A couple extra outfits would be handy, more than likely, since the humidity will be an issue, so I think Thrym's going to spend some gold on those as well.

Antitoxin and antiplague are generic cure-alls at 50 GP a pop for help with Fort saves before/after affliction. Antivenom made with the antidote kit IIRC is a actual cure after affliction. So a good call.

I don't want to get too gruesome about the hunting, coup de grace, cleaning etc. but involving the count and showing some compassion for the animal is an important part of Fain's hunter side. Mostly I see him more as a bird watcher - but also this.

I'm trying to avoid using the term 'alpha' describing the tiger as a 'king predator' or thrym as a 'king monkey' instead of an 'alpha male' - I think Fain is knowledgeable but not that sophisticated.

Very high stealth. Fain got lucky the first time he spotted them, that he rolled high to see them and they rolled low to hide.

Not liking where this was going, Luk-Luk pulls the scroll from her belt and uses it. A shimmer shield of magic appears on her left arm. If a swarm of adorable critters attacks, the elf would much prefer they not maul her to death.

Luk-Luk's uses a Move and Standard action for this process, so she is out for this turn, but now has a +4 shield bonus, total now 22.
