Frēodwēn

The newcomer bows low as he introduces himself. "Well met, fellow Pathfinders. I am Frēodwēn." He stands straight again, looking in the eyes of various members of the party as he delivers each sentence. "Like you I have been exploring the Spire for a while now. My former companions were reassigned, but I wanted to continue, so the lodge sent me to join you. I am a master bowman and a bit of a spell weaver and lorekeeper too. I look forward to earning your respect. Unfortunately they did not tell me much about you, so perhaps you might... ?" He looks expectant.
Regnum Blastface

Regnum shifts his beautifully maintained musket from both hands to his left, careful to maintain muzzle discipline. Offering his right hand to shake he states "Regnum Blastface, musket master extraordinaire."
"I'm glad the society sent another ranged fighter. Another spellweaver will also be useful."
Frēodwēn
|
"A pleasure, Regnum." Frēodwēn says, taking the offered hand with a smile.
"What's your specialty, Barm?" Frēodwēn asks lightly, ignoring the man's rudeness.
Regnum Blastface
|
Regnum slaps Barm on the back good naturely with a chuckle.
"Yah, Barm is great at killing. Sorry, but we have been down here so long I think some of the nicety of civilization has left Barm, not that he had much to begin with." Regnum grins.
"Honestly, with all the fighting and trouble we have come across, all of us are pretty decent killers now. I think once you prove yourself in battle to Barm he will warm up a bit."
"So, what does this level hold for us?"
Frēodwēn
|
Baied waits patiently until the newcomer talks to her.
Frēodwēn's question "Unfortunately they did not tell me much about you, so perhaps you might... ?" Was addressed to the whole party. He made eye contact with each person in the party as he spoke, delivering one sentence per person
Baied Eldourha

My name is Baied Eldourha. I'm not much a killer, unlike the others. I'm here to try to avoid them being killed. I'm, first and foremost a devout worshipper of Abadar, but it's true too that the ancient blood of Dragons runs in my veins, allowing me to tap into arcane energies.

Time to push on! I'm going with Barm opening the doors.
Welcome to Floor 13; The Pleasure Gardens
This hall is finished in honey marble and features four red granite columns. At the east end, an ornamental arch surrounds large stone double doors. The door is emblazoned with a large symbol: a skull with a crown. To the left and right of the doorway stand two large iron statues. Each statue holds an ornamental axe and shield, and has short, stumpy legs, a round belly, and a wide mouth above its sculpted beard.
Regnum Blastface
|
"Well, what do you make of such decorations? Looks kinda deadly, like they are saying whoever comes here will be killed by an undead king or something."
000dafi03

You can tell that the statues are actually creatures, but they haven't moved to attack you in any way as of yet. You don't see any traps or the like.
Regnum Blastface
|
"Hey, those statues. Those are actually creatures."
Regnum walks over, closer to them. Weapon still at the low ready, but not really threatening in any way. "Hello there," he calls out to the duo.

Arcana to identify. The book says the pretend to be statues, but they don't have the freeze ability and their stealth skill sucks? It seems like it should be extremely obvious that they are creatures and not statues.

Known in some lands as furnace guards or iron gluttons, tophets have long served in the palaces and prisons of tyrants as vigilant sentinels and dreaded punishments. Appearing as rotund iron statues, often bearing the caricatured visages of past kings or dishonored nobles, these constructs all possess yawning maws, capable of easily gobbling up smaller creatures

Even with Frēodwēn's inspiring shout, Saint Gudule's chain can't trip the metal creature.
If you want to ask particular questions with knowledge, go ahead and write them with your roll, otherwise I'll just give you whatever I think makes the most sense to know about them.
Frēodwēn knows that Tophets are immune to fire, however, if they have eaten someone, their metal body conducts the heat straight to that person instead.
His arrow sinks into the metal creature, although not as far as would be expected (DR/adamantine).

Barm finds that this enemy may be easy to slice into, but can be an actual threat on offense, landing all of its attacks and grabbing Barm in its mouth.

Once swallowed by a tophet, an opponent takes no damage, but is trapped inside the creature’s hollow interior. The construct’s maw locks down, preventing creatures from climbing back out. A swallowed creature can attempt to pick the lock on the iron hatch in the tophet’s stomach by making a DC 30 Disable Device check. If a creature exits by picking the lock, the tophet closes its hatch and can swallow whole again. These locks can also be picked from the outside, but only after the tophet is slain. A Large tophet’s belly can hold 1 Medium creature at a time.
After swallowing Barm, it begins to slowly leave the area!

"No! Barm!" squeaks the tiny Gudule.
"Get a taste of THIS! Ng!"
The chain follows the Tophet and tries once again to trip it, while a tiny violet vein bumps on Saint Gudule's forehead.
Chain Trip: 1d20 + 21 ⇒ (4) + 21 = 25 *picks up another d20 silently while throwing the other one at the bottom of the room*
He then casts a spell and Barm begins slowly to grow...
SG casts Enlarge Person, giving Barm another chance at bursting out next round.
This spell causes instant growth of a humanoid creature, doubling its height and multiplying its weight by 8. This increase changes the creature's size category to the next larger one. The target gains a +2 size bonus to Strength, a –2 size penalty to Dexterity (to a minimum of 1), and a –1 penalty on attack rolls and AC due to its increased size.
A humanoid creature whose size increases to Large has a space of 10 feet and a natural reach of 10 feet. This spell does not change the target's speed.
If insufficient room is available for the desired growth, the creature attains the maximum possible size and may make a Strength check (using its increased Strength) to burst any enclosures in the process. If it fails, it is constrained without harm by the materials enclosing it—the spell cannot be used to crush a creature by increasing its size.
All equipment worn or carried by a creature is similarly enlarged by the spell. Melee weapons affected by this spell deal more damage (see Table: Tiny and Large Weapon Damage). Other magical properties are not affected by this spell. Any enlarged item that leaves an enlarged creature's possession (including a projectile or thrown weapon) instantly returns to its normal size. This means that thrown and projectile weapons deal their normal damage. Magical properties of enlarged items are not increased by this spell.

Barm, you can attack from inside, but not with a two-handed weapon as you're still considered grappled, but it doesn't matter as its dying from arrows and bullets anyway.
Frēodwēn and Regnum fire their weapons at the fleeing Tohpet, somehow not hitting the man inside, they take the creature down. Barm, using his adamantine sword, punches through the inside of the Tophet and cuts a hole out to escape (now that he isn't grappled).

It only took one arrow, so you can keep two. I'm assuming your adamantine arrows are durable so you can recover the ones that missed earlier?
Beyond the entrance hall is a ledge overlooking a huge and strikingly beautiful natural cavern. Steep steps descend from the ledge to the cavern floor. Covering the floor is a sprawling garden of weird blossoms, towering fungi, and alien-looking plants whose bulbs and pods sway in the still air.
A short distance away, the Emerald Spire pierces the center of the cavern. Paths lead east and west from the foot of the stairs through the foliage. The whole cavern is illuminated by a mysterious radiance that shines from the crystals embedded in the ceiling extremely high above. In the wall at the east end of the ledge stands a set of stone double doors decorated with reliefs of serene faces.
