Let's say I used Quibble :)
"AAAAAAAAAAAAAAaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah!" says Gudule, running away!

![]() |

This skeletal creature wears rotting robes, and carries a sword in its talon-like hands. An evil blue light dances in its empty eye sockets.
"Surrender? Maybe you should be thinking of doing that!" the skeleton spellcaster says.
He then charges Trutzburg, bastard sword raised high, ready to slash into the lizard fighter.
bastard sword charge: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (12) + 9 = 21 but his sword bounces off of the fighter's shield.
The moon spider follows the skeleton closely behind.

Jawhar charges the tapestry and easily slices into the fabric, tearing a decent hole into it. He sees the undead spellcaster, but doesn't know what abomination this is.

Moving to the side to get a better shot, Regnum aims and fires at the man behind the curtain.
Musket: 1d20 + 8 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 8 + 1 = 17

Trutzburg hits the skeleton caster hard, sending bone chunks flying off the abomination.
What weapon are you using Trutzburg? I see a kukri and nodachi in your profile, but you can use your shield too.
Regnum opens fire, but the tapestry slows the bullet down enough that it doesn't quite reach the skeleton with any force.
Talondreal and Saint Gudule are up!

![]() |

"IIIIIIIIIiiiiiiiiiiih"
You hear a Gudule's scream from far off...

![]() |

Sorry, I mainly forgot that Saint Gudule was running away so we were just waiting on Talondreal.
Talondreal double moves towards the hated undead!
The skeleton's eye sockets ignite with fire, activating his gaze attack! DC 15 Will save on your turn if you can see him or be shaken.
He then swings his bastard sword down on Trutzburg again!
bastard sword vs Trutzburg: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (2) + 7 = 9
But he doesn't seem to be that great at swinging the thing around.
The moon spider defending the skeleton's rear tries to cast a spell defensively in Barm's attack range.
concentration: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (18) + 3 = 21
Everywhere within 20ft of the spider is now covered in mist. A creature 5 feet away has concealment (attacks have a 20% miss chance). Creatures farther away have total concealment (50% miss chance, and the attacker cannot use sight to locate the target).

Do you have to keep running once the source of the fear is out of sight?

Do you have to keep running once the source of the fear is out of sight?
I guess... That's how I always played and GMed it... However, I don't know GM Zerodarkfire's advice on that :)

I believe that you have to, it is the type of magic that is used

Trutzburg: I assumed so, but that is a two handed weapon that you're using with a shield. Are you using a small nodachi with a -2 size penalty perhaps? Or maybe a katana, essentially the smaller version, without a -2 penalty?
Saint Gudule: For the fear effect, it simply says you have to flee the source, but I'd say once you don't no where the source is, you don't need to run anymore as you couldn't tell where "away" is. So we'll say Saint Gudule is simply outside the room you're fighting in just kind of poking around the corner until the mist comes up.
Talondreal knows that this is a Bone Priest. He also knows it has the Death Drink ability. When a bone priest reduces a creature to 0 hit points or fewer with a melee attack or coup de grace, it can use death knell against that creature as a free action. It doesn’t need to be touching the creature to use this ability.
Can everyone try to keep all the things they want to write in a single post in the gameplay chat? This helps keep it from getting too cluttered, especially in combat.

Feat: Shield Brace
You can use a two-handed weapon sized appropriately for you from the polearm or spears weapon group while also using a light, heavy, or tower shield with which you are proficient. The shield’s armor check penalty (if any) applies to attacks made with the weapon.

![]() |

Huh, weird that feat is around since that is one of the key features of phalanx fighter archetype. Also weird that the nodachi is a polearm, it always seems more like a greatsword to me, just thinner.

Jawhar rushes to Barm and retrieves a vial of antitoxin for the fighter.
I am assuming you'll need to make additional saves
If the spider doesn't have the ability to heal Barm, Jawhar will retrieve a scroll of Lesser Restoration and cast it to heal Barm's Strength damage.

I may use an additional scroll once we see how much total damage Barm takes

Trutzburg slowly stands up and smiles at the others.
His long tongue flickers out to taste the air and he hisses.
"That was ssome boneheaded enemy. Let uss hope not more are to be found here! He played evil tricks with my mind!"

Saint Gudule arrives on these matters.
"Whoa! I... I just had to check we weren't followed. We never know, right? Anyway, we aren't. I'd say we continue North of here."

![]() |

The spider has no way that I'm aware of to remove venom from something. The stats of the venom are as follows: Fort DC 15; frequency 1/round for 5 rounds; effect 1d3 Str; cure 1 save.
Loot: On the table lie four longswords, a masterwork dagger, a buckler, a belt of mighty constitution +2, a potion of cure moderate wounds, a flask of acid, and four small leather belt pouches. One of the pouches contains 16 gp; another contains 25 gp and 12 sp. The third holds 77 gp and 8 sp, and the fourth contains a small emerald worth 50 gp and a pair of six-sided bone dice that have been weighted to always roll sixes. The ugly, damaged tapestries are valueless. None of the skeletons has any treasure. In a pouch hung around his neck, the bone priest carries a vial of silversheen and a Spire transport token. The bone priest also carries a key on a fine chain, worn around his bony neck.

![]() |

I will still use the scroll. I don't want someone walking around with ability damage when there are still several rooms left to clear.
"This loot is interesting. It seems like the type of gear an adventuring party might carry.
Do we know if another group came this way before us? Perhaps that is what those bodies were in the other room."
Picking up the transport token, he peers at it with a puzzled look on his face. "What is this thing? Anyone ever seen something like this?"
Let's try the key in that grate in the hallway. Then, proceed to the other set of doors in that hallway.

![]() |

"I would prefer that the belt be used by one of you who spend their times in the front lines.
By the time I catch up to any of the battles, they are usually over. The magic would be wasted on me."

![]() |

Saint Gudule tries to remember if he heard a tale about a token of transport. Knowledge Arcana: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (7) + 5 = 12 It doesn't seem likely.
He however agrees with Jawhar about the belt.
"Please take it yourself or Barm. I don't need it, I'm too slow on battles."
