Barm tries to hit snake with the sword in one hand.
Furious Focus, vital strike, (power attack) +1 adamantine Greatsword: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (11) + 14 = 25
damage: 4d6 + 6 + 6 ⇒ (1, 6, 5, 5) + 6 + 6 = 29

![]() |

Unless you have someway to use one hand on a greatsword, you can't use a two handed weapon in a grapple.

![]() |

One small change there, Regnum, you'll get this turn to act normally, but next turn you'll fail the save. I didn't full read SLAs casting time text and stopped at "unless otherwise stated in the ability" without reading the next part "or spell description", and Dominate is a 1 round cast.

sorry, my mistake!
Barm tries to free himself.

In That Case....
Regnum moves to a more advantageous position to stop the casting and shoots at the caster, reloading after the shot as normal.
Musket Target = Caster: 1d20 + 15 + 1 ⇒ (12) + 15 + 1 = 28
Damage: 1d12 + 7 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 7 + 1 = 9

GM: I know I may be a bit late but considering the fact we play in PBP, I'd like to ask anyway. I'd like to cast "Liberating Command" on Barm, giving him a retry with a +14 bonus.
Saint Gudule's eyes open wide as he sees the fighter engulfed in the snake's grapple. He then sees the caster and thinks as quickly as he can after Regnum's shot. The ganzi puts both hands on the ground and stone begins to rise around the serpentfolk, forming a wall.
Casting Stone shape to alter the room's shape.

![]() |

That's fine Saint Gudule. I'll add that +14 to his roll he already made, which means he breaks free. Then I'll go with his first action of attacking the snake with his sword. Time to do some math to figure out stone shapes effect. 17 cubic feet is essentially a 3x3x3, but that doesn't mean you need to make a "wall" that large, but how thick do you want the wall? I see you already placed it.

![]() |

How thick? Well as thick as it can be :) the goal is to reshape the battleground.

![]() |

Baied starts a spell, ready to finish it at a moment notice
Readies dispel magic, aiming either at the Serpent mage or Barm if he seems influenced by magic

![]() |

With Saint Gudule's magical help, Barm frees himself from the snake before striking it hard with his sword.
Saint Gudule then uses his magic to create a wall around the serpentfolk caster.
Trurtzburg swings at the snake as well, easily hitting and killing it.

Spellcraft 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (18) + 7 = 25\ to see what the serpent folk cast, the charm effect

![]() |

The half elf will concentrate and focus on his connection to the fire in his golden dragon's blood and cast burning sands around the serprent folk
You cause sheets of hot sand to spread over the ground in the area of effect. This layer of sand is 1 foot deep and constantly shifts and churns, transforming the ground in the area into difficult terrain. The sand itself burns, and periodic flames rise from the grit. While these flames cannot ignite objects, they deal 1d4 points of fire damage to any creature that ends its turn in contact with the ground within the area of effect. At the end of the duration, the sand vanishes, leaving no aftereffects (other than damage dealt).
damage 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5

![]() |

Talondreal identifies the Dominate Person spell the caster is focusing on.
@Saint Gudule, the reason I ask "How thick" is because it could be 15 feet thick (3 squares), but I don't think you want it to fill the entire room.
He then creates a pile of burning sand under the sperpentfolk cleric.
concentration, Regnum's bullet, DC 24: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (13) + 14 = 27
acrobatics across the bed: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (20) + 10 = 30
Sartoss moves around the wall and finishes his spell on Regnum. At the same time, another image of the creature appears next to it. 1 mirror image.
Regnum doesn't seem highly inclined to shoot his own party, so his order is to defend Sartoss. That's up to Regnum's player how to interpret it. If the command was to attack your party directly, you'd get new save at +2 to end the effect. "Defending" Sartoss could be standing in front of him and aid another his AC...or it could be shooting party members Regnum doesn't like for some reason.

Only way to do it fairly, and more fun, is to RNG his actions.
RNG - 1 Shoot, 2 defend AC: 1d2 ⇒ 1
Target - 1-Talon, 2- Barm, 3-Trutz,4-Saint,5-Baied: 1d5 ⇒ 3
Musket Target - Trutz: 1d20 + 15 + 1 ⇒ (9) + 15 + 1 = 25
Damage: 1d12 + 7 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 7 + 1 = 9
Well, at least it wasn't for a lot of damage.

![]() |

The half elf will cast true strike on himself and then move up to engage the caster.
His fire Dr should keep him safe
Can someone move him past the gunslinger please?

![]() |

I am a little confused. Is there a way to get behind the wall and attack the enemy?
If that is possible:
Barm goes behind the wall and attacks Sartoss.
Vital strike - Furious Focus (power attack) +1 adamantine Greatsword: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (13) + 14 = 27
damage: 4d6 + 12 + 6 ⇒ (4, 5, 5, 4) + 12 + 6 = 36

![]() |

You can move around the wall, but most of the room has burning sand in it (red outline) so you'll take some fire damage from Talondreal.

@GM: ok, I get it :)
Saint Gudule shrugs as his tactics didn't seem to work. He concentrates on the caster and three hellish chains appear to attack him!
Barbed Chain 2, attack: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (16) + 10 = 26
for 1d6 ⇒ 4 damage and a DC 16 will save or be shaken for 1d4 ⇒ 1 rounds.
Barbed Chain 1, attack: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (10) + 10 = 20

@GM: I'll let you roll it it hits an image or him.

Regnum shoots Trutzburg before Trutzburg turns around and disarmed the rouge gunslinger.

Fearing the worse, the Sartoss panics and begins stabbing wildly with his dual raipers!

Yes, it does, foul beast. the half elf says as he channels his magical energy into his blade and attempts to smite the creature, with a power attack

Talondreal perfectly strikes Sartoss in his most vital area, the neck, causing him to bleed profusely and collapse to the ground.

Good job on that challenging fight! I thought Barm being grappled and Regnum being dominated might have been the end of the Spire Delvers here!

![]() |

Nice blow, Talondreal. Your sword defeated that foe of Good and Justice, and I'm sure your skills will be put to the test even more, deeper in the Spire. Now, if you don't mind, I'll check who is hurt, and heal their wounds.

Talondreal detects a ton of magic. Sartoss has two +1 raipers called the Fangs of Kro'akoth, a 1st level pearl of power, and a gold holy symbol of Kro'akoth.
Regnum finds a secret door in the west wall (revealed a small path into the adjacent room).

![]() |

A masked figure suddenly teleports into the room with you, he strides towards Talondreal, handcuffs in hand, "For your crimes against the society, I, one of the ten, place you under arrest. You are to come with me to face the decemvirate in trial." he says as he clasps the handcuffs on Talondreal before teleporting them both away.
Jason got banned for an unknown period of time, this feels like a decent RP way to enact that event in game.

I do not appreciate the use of my name in this context. Therefore I will be bringing this up with the Powers that Be.
