haha it looks like Diablo's "treasure goblins" ^^
Knowledge (any relevant): 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (14) + 5 = 19
Saint Gudule follows Barm and grins widely, trying to remember a tale about such a creature.
"Haha! Hello there! My name is Gudule and we are adventurers. Are you a miner? This spire seems made of an interesting material indeed..." he says in common, trying to appear the least threatening possible.

Untold ages ago, the pechs served forgotten masters in the deepest caverns of the world. In time, their masters moved on, leaving the pechs bereft of guidance. Some sought refuge in seemingly safer tunnels nearer the surface. The unspeakable horrors they encountered there transformed them into derros over the course of several generations. Those pechs that stayed close to their ancestral caverns survive to this day, though in such Small numbers and in such isolation that few of the surface world know of their existence.
Pechs are skilled miners and stonemasons, and are at times employed or enslaved as such by other subterranean races. They have learned to hide the entrances to their lairs most carefully, blending their narrow entranceways into the living rock such that they can only be seen from exactly the right angle. When interlopers do find a pech’s lair, they are met with open arms, friendly advice, and a firm insistence that the pech is to be left alone. The typical pech stands only 3-1/2 feet tall, but its dense flesh gives it a weight of 100 pounds.

The creature looks at Saint Gudule for a moment, "Harvesting crystals for Great Master."

Hit dice?
Saint Gudule nods.
"Of course you are. Who and where is your master?" he says.
000dafi03
|
6 hit dice, but only d6s
The strange creature continues to chip away at the spire. "Great Master is the Maker of the Spire. Long ago Gundrun’s people served the Masters. Now we serve again! Gundrun is busy. Gundrun must harvest crystals for the gold-faced man!"
Saint Gudule
|
Gudule frowns.
"Is the gold-faced man your master and Maker of the Spire?"
000dafi03
|
"No, no, gold-faced man serve great master. Gundrun serve gold-faced man and great master. Grundrun not see great master long time, only gold-faced man." he says while still chipping at the spire.
Saint Gudule
|
"Thank you Grundrun. I don't want to disturb you further while you work. Have a great... mining." he says with a grin.
Then to the others: "Let's look elsewhere."

Leaving the miner to his work, you check the other door for traps before opening it. It leads down a hallway turns east around a corner. At the bend, you see a horned creature twice the height of a human, wielding a massive blade. It grunts and roars at you while pointing in the direction of back down the hallway you came.
This is a Sepid Div.
Warlords among the divs, sepids spread fear, slaughter, and despair wherever they pass. They foster battles, incite rebellions, and seek heroes to slay, destroying all that which gives common people hope. With their falchions in hand, sepids often stand at the fore of the foul legions they raise.
Sepids delight in twisting the truth, but while all divs are liars, sepids make themselves predictable by always doing the opposite of what they claim, and wise opponents turn this knowledge to their own advantage.
Sepids stand 13 feet tall and weigh upward of 1,500 pounds.

A Sepid! A rare creature from another plane, again! It will attack, they are liars at heart, and always do the opposite of what they say! Beware, they are powerful opponents, vicious fighters and leaders of soldiers!

He continues to growl and roar towards you and the hallway. Oddly, Talondreal doesn't detect any evil here.

Saint Gudule shrugs and looks behind him to see if the creature points at a threat behind them.

Talondreal realizes that the creature is an illusion and informs you of such information. Eventually you all realize that is, in fact, an illusion.

Regnum sighs. "Well, lets. If that thing had gotten any closer I would have shot at it."
Regnum goes with Barm to the next door and waits for him to open it up.

A clever illusion but this does not mean that this type of creature can not still be met on this level/ he says.
Baied Eldourha

I was wondering if our disappearing foe from earlier couldn't be the cause of this illusion. he obviously knows much about extra planar things, and might be not that far. If it use deceit and trickery, it might even be invisible
A quick prayer to Abadar, and Baied eyes glows with a golden light

I'm going to say its been about two minutes since the last fight with this guy. So you likely still have protection from evils up. If you do not have a protection from evil effect and can see the Aghash, you need to make a DC 16 fort save or be confused for 1 round. See discussion for gaze attack mechanics.

Barm& GM: don't forget my spell (Align weapon) is still active. Your sword is Good aligned (5 mn duration spell less 2 mn, 3mn left). I'll delay my actions, as usual

Trurtzburg and Regnum hit the creature, but both of their attacks hit hardened skin and are partially absorbed on impact. (DR 5)
Saint Gudule casts a spell, but the only obvious effects are a flare of magical light from the Aghash where the chain would have striked at. (SR failure)
The Aghash steps away from Trutzburg and casts a spell targeting the Nagaji. A little ghostly hand shoots forward and tries to slap Trutzburg with the spell.

There are stairs leading down to the next floor, but there is also another lever in this room.

Saint Gudule

Saint Gudule, beholding the death, comes closer and tries to see if there is anything of value on the creature.
I'm totally for exploring the maze. GM: would the aghash fit the description of "a gold-faced man"?

Aghash is not the gold-faced man. Unless you'd like to pull the lever in this room (red or black), I think your next course of available action would be the secret passage a ways back.

Probably because you didn't make a post for 3 days.
You were still up in 2nd round before I killed the enemy. :) You are to slow. :)

No turn for me this round, not even in Round 1?
Well, look at the init board: you lost initiative to the bad guy on round one. On round two, Barm killed it before you posted...
Nothing valuable on the Aghash?

Having now explored the dungeon to the stairs with the levers all in the down position, you realize that flipping them to the up position moves the hallways in the opposite direction.
With this new found knowledge, you may choose which direction the hallways face as you move through them, opening up your options quite a bit. See updated map
