I am fine with the Rabbi's actions, as they seem true to the PC.
But that being said, I just want time to explain who lord P got to be a technomancer.
Absolutely. I will generate initiatives for the encounter the party is engaged in, but feel free to post whatever you like in explanation of Lord Perpireen's transformation prior to the combat. There is no need to rush into the fight, if players still have business prior to that needs to be posted.

Am I right in thinking that he can't teleport us out of the Pyramid without consent?
I am happy to move on with the story, but we really should have had a post of us saying... Hey, let's go now, team. Instead Alexei dropped us off willy-nilly and leaves. It's not sitting right with me. His post felt like a GM post.

You are correct. At very least, you would've gotten a Will save to resist if you didn't want to go.

It's especially weird because Alexei's CL isn't high enough to TP everyone in one go. We have 8 people, IIRC. Alexei, Habiba, Mwikali, Zagathoth, Perpireen, Algoral, Johann, Ihrin, and 5o9 makes 9, actually.
At CL 9, he can only bring 3 people plus himself. So I imagine there are some awkward conversations to be had if he's making 3 trips back to the ship to ferry everyone off without saying anything. =)
I'm not particularly irritated by Alexei's or Perpireen's actions, but unilateral decision making of that sort can be a problematic trend in any game, much less one this huge (around twice the size of a normal party) that moves so fast (Mike's games have always moved 3-4 times as fast as the average game). Aside any issues of everyone getting their say in a decision, it makes it very difficult to keep up with what's going on if people just...do stuff that involves other peoples' characters or that might have been interacted with by others' characters. Hell, if only for the effect of losing out on very good RP conflicts and discussions as things move too fast for others to respond in time without shifting into "flashback mode".
It became an issue toward the end of Postapocthulhu as well, where a lot of people had trouble keeping up with 1-2 posters' rapid posting speeds, and partially led to the game petering out just at the finish line.
My 2cp on the matter. I don't believe you acted in malice Nate or Jonny, but I believe the whole sequence was a bit of a goof on both your parts'.

Michael Johnson 66 |

I apologize for not making it clear that the pilot or helmsman in communion with the Pyramid can teleport passengers from anywhere inside the Pyramid as CL 20th... but they would get a Will save vs DC 15 + pilot's spellcasting ability modifier to resist if they were unwilling.

Storm Dragon |

Funnily enough, that still "only" lets him take 7 people with him, so 5o9 would need to be left. Which means we really need to figure out what to do with him before we poof out. Habiba did not know, before we were zapped away, that the guy existed, since she was not part of the "investigate the cells" group.

Hilarious! Okay, we need to do some pre teleport RPing, methinks, even if it means retroactively.

Alexei Orlovsky |

@Peripreen- as I believe my last post made clear, I have been operating under the assumption that you did have enough time to do your research and craft your one item before we jumped. The only thing I thought I was interrupting was creating another new item with 5/9. It was not my intention to prevent you leveling.
@Everyone- I'm sorry if it seems like I was being underhanded or a control freak. The reason I was working behind the scenes with MJ was at first because I was looking for advice on reacting in a way that was faithful to my character but not disruptive to the party (which I have failed at spectacularly). The reason we... well, I don't want to speak for him... the reason I didn't tell you what was about to happen now was that we came up with what I think is a pretty cool solution that would remove my character's concerns/inhibitions about doing crazy things with the pyramid and I thought it would be a fun surprise for everyone. Clearly nothing about this is fun. So, here's what MJ and I had agreed to: Alexei teleported away to spend some time communing with the pyramid and will, as part of that, witness some things that radically change his perspective on time and time-travel (like the birth and death of the universe). He will be waiting for you at the inn when you arrive there (at which point full access to the pyramid will be restored) but he will be a very different man than the one who left you only minutes ago. Try to act surprised (or don't, what do I know).

Storm Dragon |

Quite frankly, having a voice of "we should not use this" is a good thing to have, IMO. I wouldn't want you to change your character on that front unless you really want to.
Having Alexei take the Pyramid and hide it somewhere forever would not necessarily be a bad thing for the health of the game at all (I already have issues with choice paralysis in games where I can go anyWHERE, much less anyWHEN, and changing the game's genre at the drop of a hat seems like it would get problematic after a while), it's just something about which a consensus between all 9 of us should be reached, OOC.
Having Alexei spirit the Pyramid away (particularly if some horrible temporal catastrophe occurs. Or hell, just a Bythos Aeon coming to tell us to knock it off or it'll knock US off) to only be used in some climactic, absolutely imperative event could be a good thing.

Lord Perpireen McGibel |

I was fine with his action , because Alexei seemed to just want to
remove a power no mortal should have.
But now I found out Alexei gets full use and access to the Pyramid fully while locking all other PCs out of that option. He gets to travel all of time and space doctor who style, having a great old time, past AND future. Then years later coming back all wise and knowing to tell us all what the amazing time he has had with it and that we can't have the same thing as its bad for us.
Really!!, GM/Alexei can't you see how that sounds.
It went from.
"I will put this in a place become this is a power no mortal should have"
To
"Only I can deal with the power of this thing and will take it all for myself, then I will hide it"
Ether we ALL get to use it or NONE of us get to use it.
@GM, So I have posted and alternative solution, which offers the same out come. One where 5 of 9 takes away from us and the problem of a maga high artifact that could brake the game, and which can come back later if needed by you GM, in other words an NPC has it safe and away from others.
I will even re-level my PC in another class so as to help fix this.
And Alexei finds there is no Pyramid there to teleport back too.
Lord P will tell him what he got 5 of 9 to do when that happens.

Storm Dragon |

Chill a bit. There's not really any reason to go pointing fingers or taking unilateral actions over this.
The idea proposed was his character goes off for a bit and comes back willing to use the device however we as a party see fit. OOC it's a solid solution to the dilemma.
There's no reason to be upset about any offscreen adventures that may have been "missed" any more than anyone else should be upset by any other character's unique flavor interactions with the world. Not everyone gets Habiba's past life flashbacks or your character's past fey adventures to draw on; that a character can have a unique experience, especially in the service of smoothing over a conflict, is a good thing.
The reason a course of action should be decided on OOC for these sorts of things before IC posts are made is to prevent messiness. The current jumping around and conflicting actions taking place reminds me, to a small degree, of Fiasco's that have occurred while participating in free form RPs/collaborative storytelling. It just gets confusing after a bit.
We currently have an issue where people disagree both IC and OOC over the matter, and the latter takes precedence. It might be best to table a final solution until after the Japan adventure has been resolved, when things have had time to be more mulled over calmly.
I'm not even saying your solution is wrong; it's an elegant one and makes a SORT of sense, but you've essentially done the same thing you were complaining about earlier and have made what is essentially a GM post that does about 5 things at once and takes pseudo control of an NPC. Which is definitely messy.

Michael Johnson 66 |

In the interest of considering everyone's fun and player agency, I feel we need to be democratic about the Black Pyramid and the future direction of the campaign. If I were GMing new inexperienced players, I'd make the decision at this point to either:
1.) Let the Rabbi play out his idea, which involves a rebuild of his PC and a new outlook on using the Pyramid in cooperation with the party (I like this option because, well, time travel lol)...
2.) Take Lord Perpireen's suggestion and have 5 of 9 tale the potentially game breaking artifact away, and admit that it was a mistake on my part to introduce it in the first place (I could have just let you find a way to repair the Alanqilis)...
Or 3.) A combination of the first two, where the Rabbi first takes the Pyramid on his own, undergoes a transformation as result of experience, and relents, granting full access to everyone else... Only to have any number of powerful foes wrest control, or even have the Hidden Heptagon take charge of it...
But since you are all seasoned adult players, I will put it to your vote, players. 1, 2, 3, or something even better one of you can suggest?

Michael Johnson 66 |

We can simplify the vote to two options that allow all players to build or rebuild as desired, and decide the future tone of the campaign:
1.) The Rabbi goes on his time travel odyssey, returns a different man (with time Oracle rebuild), and open to sharing the full powers of the Black Pyramid with his fellow Pcs, and the campaign goes a little over the top with time travel...
Or, 2.) The same initial course as option 1, but after the rescue mission in Japan, I contrive a way to remove the Black Pyramid from play, and we return to a grittier, lower-powered, historical swords & sorcery, as originally planned and promised?
One vote per player, not character, please! Lol...

Alexei Orlovsky |

It seems very unlikely at this point that a vote will fix anything. We have a player who is not acting like an adult, and I can’t imagine that any party consensus will stop the temper tantrum unless it happens to be exactly what he wants.
I might have a solution though: I’m out. Retcon the beach in whatever way works best for you all. I hope the rest of you are able to salvage this game.

Alexei-Zag: You are taking this too personally. Don't leave just because you are mad at the moment. Step away from it for a day or two and then come back. please. Being mad at one player is not a reason to quit. This isn't like a live game where you have to look at each other or be in the same room. You can ignore each other until the anger dies down, you don't even have to interact in this setting. And you are overreacting a bit because both of you have very valid points. I don't think Lord P is wrong. I don't think you are wrong.
I vote #2, after Japan adventure the Black Pyramid gets taken away.

Mwikali |

I like 3 it seemed interesting as we could then later seek it out to try and use it again. But now it is infested with other things.

Lord Perpireen McGibel |

I vote 3 as well, here is why
Alexei-Zag, Understand where I am coming from.
To me, You talked with the GM about your PC having a rebuild. which is fine but the 'mechanism' for this acts as an override of other PCs doing their own PC build. [Mine in this case]
I also had plans and wanted to shape my PC with action IN Gameplay not outside. Playing out the change. So when your PC whisked us off, dumped us with no explanation.
I felt cheated and let down. Where your PC will have a resin for a change mine loses his.
We are both experienced players, There is no need to name calling or rage quitting just because we don't get 100% what we want. With-in Michael Johnson 66 offered 3 options is many ways out. With room for us both to shape our PCs into what we want as well as other PCs.
3.) A combination of the first two, where the Rabbi first takes the Pyramid on his own, undergoes a transformation as result of experience, and relents, granting full access to everyone else... Only to have any number of powerful foes wrest control, or even have the Hidden Heptagon take charge of it...
In this way your Rabbi gets the rebuild, then other players [Like myself] Can play out what they want before the GM removes the artefact.
Compromise is the key, and 3 is Compromise.

Lord Perpireen McGibel |

I had a think in the car coming home form shoot and realised, I'm being an A$$ and I'm in the wrong here.
I was angry become I did not get to do what I wanted. But the fact is many times before I have been indulged by the GM.
And its just not fair that when another player wants to have some indulgment as well, that I object. Really thinking on it that way, I am in the wrong here.
So, I will chance my PC back not having any Tech like stuff, He did not seek a peek at the future stuff, other then sports games. #
Why, because hes a fey and thats what a Fey would do.
Rabbi/Zag I will not complain or interfere in your idea for your PC. Its a great idea, go for it.
Please Ignore my last post in game play.

Michael Johnson 66 |

Thank you, Johnny. I made the first error in introducing the Black Pyramid, an artifact that could easily break the game. Even a grognard like myself makes mistakes! ;-)
We shall proceed with option 3, and I will bot Rabbi and Zagathoth until I can gracefully write them out of the party. Of course, should Nate decide to return, he is always welcome.
So, Rabbi drops everyone else off in Japan, as stated, except he brings 5 of 9 along on his travels through time. I will bot Zagathoth until a natural way to have him depart comes along...

![]() |

He'll come back. Right? I mean.
Why not?
I just...
No hard feelings. Don't leave over something like this.

Michael Johnson 66 |

Heck I figured jumping to Kyoto and then back to Italy would be the best coarse of action
This is kind of what I figured, too, but of course, as GM of a big sandbox, I will always stay impartial and do my best to minimize railroading to only what will improve the story and be fun without making you all FEEL railroaded lol...
That said, you have an Ogon Fox to rescue, and an Antichrist to defeat! ;)

![]() |

Cool! Thanks for enlarge person. I don't think Johann ever got that before. He is already large, so now we are dealing with... a huge (long) bear!
He will have a 10 ft reach, be about 20 feet long, and weight about 7 american tons. That is about the size of a full grown male elephant, or a tyrannosaurus rex.

Need one more rogue level then 1 level after that to become a fighter, wear the plate, use the shield and hammer and kiri and greatsword!!! Max out my stealth and climb and what have you to become a badass fighter rogue of holy vengence

I've seen some awesome fighter/rogue builds. Two handed weapon + flanking sneak attack = death-dealing machine!

Ihrin Ardlean Dracul |

Yep but want that level 10 rogue to get evasion then going full fighter and dump my skills points into my better skills

Storm Dragon |

I think they mean Improved Evasion, which IMO is HIGHLY overrated. It's nice, but pretty much complete overkill; Reflex saves are often the lowest impact saves in the game, the easiest to pass for a Dex based PC (since it's the only save other than Will for a Wis caster that hooks into their highest stat), and Evasion is already a huge boost to Reflex efficacy.
If you're staying in UnRogue just for Improved Evasion, you're probably better off just swapping at 10.

BTW, my daughters are adventuring in this world and same timeline, too, and Lady Arckenscape (My 14-yo daughter's elf wizard), Alia (8-yo's elf monk), Friar Ethelbert (dad GM human cleric heal bot lol), and Sir Fredrick (elf paladin beatstick) have just passed from the Black Forest into Gooseland, and have encountered the Big Bad Wolf...

Michael Johnson 66 |

You know there is a little Fey lord who may pop in and help if they need it. Feel free to use Lord P as an NPC GM
Thank you, sir! They just might encounter Lord Perpireen if they get into trouble with the Big Bad Wolf and his werewolf brothers lol...

Michael Johnson 66 |

Are they protecting Lady Rapunzel, I hope! Tell them Johann would be grateful!
Yes! They gave Big Bad Wolf what for lol...
The 8 yo's monk convinced the Little Pigs that straw and sticks won't cut it by kicking their houses down lol...
They then helped the 3 pigs fortify with brick and fought off BBW and his brother lol...
Siege of the brick house was fun, they dumped hot stone soup on BBW as he was trying to climb up the side of the house...

That's great. I'm glad the Black Forest has a new set of guardians.

Is it sad i want some of the Foxs and Zags items

![]() |

I'm sure new and better loot is right around the corner!
Johann is all by himself now as the final person from table 1. I feel that it gives me the right to be pissy at Zag. What a baby. He did the equivalent of storming away with his basketball because he got mad at the neighbor kids. "Not being an adult" is what he blamed another player. What a hypocrite. Johann isn't going anywhere. If I have a disagreement with someone, I know how to talk and compromise. What is it with these entitled babies that used to be on the first table?
I'm mad at all of these players who left for non-medical reasons. No commitment. No ability to give five minutes a day to keep their character interesting. No thought of feelings of other people or the GM who puts in so much effort.
I felt the need to say something. I look forward to Johann getting to know his new friends and I won't in character or out of it, pine for these people who didn't need to leave but chose to be quitters. Rant over.

Michael Johnson 66 |

I want to express again my gratitude to Johann, Mwikali and Lord P for sticking with me. I feel like I have a really cool story to tell in a setting that trumps all the other fictional fantasy worlds, because truth is stranger than fiction, and our Earth, with all its rich mythology and folklore, is the model on which Middle Earth, Golarion, Toril, Oerth, Ansalon, and all others are based.
If you stay with me, your PCs will become the heroes of a new, alternate history that feels more real than any other campaign you've played in. That's a big claim, but I stand by it. And I can't take credit for the whole thing. I'm constantly entertained by your contributions as player characters. You make the world come to life! Your choices and actions will create a far better, more organic and real story than any plot I or any writer could concoct.
Thank you for staying with me and committing a little time and imagination each day to helping me build something awesome that we can all look back on with pride and fun memories!

Michael Johnson 66 |

Also, thank you Storm Dragon and CA Jademan, for picking up the ball that other players have dropped. Storm Dragon has been my friend and loyal player for three great campaigns now, and CA, I think the others will attest that you are in for a treat in my campaign...
Together we will rewrite history and have a blast doing so!

![]() |

Sure!!! If he is up to playing a full character, he doesn't have to be my cohort, either. He left on good terms, I feel, and it would be nice to have him back.
