Ok looks like we're splitting the party. Here we go.
Anthelea sees the pit in front of her with no real way around it. Climb and jump seem to be the main options. Although she may be creative...
---
Jimmothy begins to engage the minotaur with ranged summons. The commotion alerts part of the group and they return to aid Janira.
Jimmothy summoned Gerbite that took a nip out of the minotaur. Janira realizes you've rejoined the fray and yells in your direction. You FOOLS! I told you to get in the cave. I've been holding it off with my bow but it has closed the distance drastically. It is almost upon us. You still have time to get in the cave. Fear not! I will hold it off.
You feel courage from Janira's words.

Technically, Jimbo's gotta be within 60 ft of the big guy (summoning is short range, and that assumes he moved afterwards), but that's just my Awful Neutral side saying that, so I bludgeon it with a stick.
"Janira what where you doing you could have gotten yourself killed. You never split the party! That's nearly the first lesson they teach you in adventuring school. Course I guess you haven't gone yet, huh? Well, stick with me."
Double move through foliage (which I guess slows him down a bit as these things do on forested maps).

![]() |

I didn't give you a sense of distance before so I'll let that slide. If everyone would be extra descriptive with their abilities, please. That would be very helpful.

![]() |

I'm new to that summoning game... can the summoned critter move out of the spell's range after being summoned? if so, Princess Mindy will do that. Thank you!
Dangling the cracked compass of Hurricane Kings gone by, Princess Mindy calls for a celestial winged ally once more!
"Attack the Minotaur, dear Winged Warrior of the Abendego Skies!"
Standard to summon; move action to reload crossbow

![]() |

Summoned creatures can move beyond the range of the spell but must be summoned in that range. Make sure you update the map, please.

charge attack -- not sure if minotaur already took his AoO but oh boy... here's the roll just in case...
acrobatics to avoid AoO: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3
talon, charge, inspire, smite evil: 1d20 + 3 + 2 + 1 + 0 ⇒ (16) + 3 + 2 + 1 + 0 = 22 for 1d4 + 2 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 2 + 1 + 1 = 7 damage.
***---***---***
Awwww shhhh... HOPING AoO already taken now!!!!!!

Damiel - Alchemist Iconic |

Damiel walks forward and throws a bomb at the Minotaur.
I believe in this situation with my touch attack you will all excuse 1 point of splash damage! Right?!?
Bomb - ranged touch, inspire- 1/7: 20 + 4 + 1 = 25
bomb damage inspire: 1d6 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 4 + 1 = 10

![]() |

You can pick the two back squares to avoid the summons! but yes! fire away!!! I've always wondered why they disallowed crits on bombs? that makes no sense to me. Shouldn't the first die of damage be multiplied? --> looked up the rules: yes, the 1d6+INT is x2 on a nat 20 if you confirm! :) EDIT2: oh... yes... looks like you 'took 20' on that roll! :P

![]() |

Damiel, check your roll there. Looks like you didn't add the "d" in front of the "20".
The minotaur swipes at the eagle on its approach.
greataxe: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (12) + 9 = 21
damage: 3d6 + 6 ⇒ (4, 6, 6) + 6 = 22
Destroying the heroic Eagle Tank.

![]() |

"NOOOOOOOOOOoooooooooo.... how... awwwwful!! you despicable bull woman! how dare you prevent the smiting of your evil with your own smiting of the noble and true?!"

Damiel - Alchemist Iconic |

Sorry. Wrote capital D20 instead of d20 in the roll syntax. Also forgot to add -4 for range.
Bomb - ranged touch, inspire- 1/7: 1d20 + 4 + 1 - 4 ⇒ (20) + 4 + 1 - 4 = 21
Crit confirm : 1d20 + 5 - 4 ⇒ (8) + 5 - 4 = 9
Ha ha!! ;-). Crit?
Crit damage : 1d6 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 9

![]() |

Anthelea, Nennette voiced their interest in joining the minotaur battle in the discussion thread. You'd be going it alone in the cave.

reflex: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (15) + 5 = 20
Additional information can be obtained for checks that exceed DC 5 in increments of 5. Abilities, Defenses, Vulnerabilities, or Attacks.
Even as large as the minotaur is, it sidesteps the center blase enough to only take limited damage.
The minotaur lazily swipes at the meager rat in front of him.
greataxe: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (14) + 9 = 23
damage: 3d6 + 6 ⇒ (2, 2, 5) + 6 = 15
He turns his sights to more substantial prey and takes off in a sprint at the heroes.
Move toward the stream.
Damiel

Nennette
Party is up.

Damiel - Alchemist Iconic |

Hi GM, the Minotaur takes full damage from the bomb as it was the target. So if AC 9 touch AC confirmed the Minotaur takes 19 damage. A Reflex save is only allowed for the splash damage so that is not relevant for the Minotaur.
Damiel walks forward and throws a bomb!
Bomb 2/7, ranged touch, inspire, point blank : 1d20 + 4 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (20) + 4 + 1 + 1 = 26
Crit confirm : 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (4) + 6 = 10
Again Crit???
Bomb damage, inspire , pbs: 1d6 + 4 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 4 + 1 + 1 = 9
Crit damage : 1d6 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 6 = 7

![]() |

Sure enough. Mino HP at -41 now with both bomb attacks and rat bite. DANG!!!!

Jimmothy summons another ball of crackling energy into his hand, and tosses it into the sky above the minotaur.
"Alphatross! Go!"

Summon - Alphatross |

"TROSS!" screams the eagle in challenge.
bite v minotaur (inspire, smite evil): 1d20 + 3 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 3 + 1 = 12 damage (smite): 1d4 + 2 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 2 + 1 + 1 = 6

The minotaur weathers beak and claw but finally succumbs to the last rake of the eagle's talon.
**Combat Over**
Janira takes a long pause before beginning to speak. When I say "go in the cave", YOU GO IN THE CAVE. What you did was reckless and put all of us in danger. She strides up to Jimmothy in particular. And you. One more disrespectful crack out of you and you'll be scribing Pathfinder latrine logistics details for the rest of your damn career.
She takes a moment to gather herself. She walks over to the edge of the water to survey the downed minotaur. I do have to say...that was quite the fireworks show. She catches herself going soft on the recruits. You got lucky is all it was. Nine times out of ten this beast would have left you in bits on the side of the mount.
Let's go then. The hour approaches midnight and we have caves to explore. And someone give me my things back. She stomps off toward the cave entrance, heart pounding. Part furious, part relieved.
---
Anthelea,
As you make your way across the bottom of the pit you can pick up the bundle of cloth which reveals itself to be a finely made blue cloak with an unusual embroidery pattern in fine silver thread.

![]() |

Princess Mindy breathes a sigh of relief as the bombs hit the minotaur female squarely, preventing the beast from mowing the party down.
"Thank you Damiel! I'm glad this thing never made it past the stream! we owe you a debt of gratitude!"
Turning to Janira, she says, "Understood, Pathfinder Agent. We shall attempt to follow directive in the future, including staying together and mentoring the younger members of our team in doing the safe thing. We are pleased to have you with us, however. I will not hide it. I am glad that your sacrifice was not necessary. Now, what will the next step be, Agent Janira? where do we go now?"

![]() |

Follow me to the cave. If you are still capable of following orders. Janira is still pretty huffy.

![]() |

Janira takes a long pause before beginning to speak. When I say "go in the cave", YOU GO IN THE CAVE. What you did was reckless and put all of us in danger. She strides up to Jimmothy in particular. And you. One more disrespectful crack out of you and you'll be scribing Pathfinder latrine logistics details for the rest of your damn career.
Jimmothy inhales sharply as little Janira curses. "Golly, what are you mad at us for? We just saved your life."
Then, angrier then before, he leans down to get into her face. "And you're not my mom! So don't try sending me to my cave! I don't know why professor Shaine asked a brat like you to come. He could have just given us a map."
Given the chance, he calls to Alphatross, and stomps off in huff. He stays in the huff for the time being. Alphatross hangs around for a minute or so and then disappears. When that happens, Jimmothy takes a minute and re-summons Katachu.

Katachu, eidolon |

"Ka-ta?"
Sensing his friend's mood Katachu looks so sad he doesn't even seem interested in tasting Nanette anymore.

The dissenters and Janira enter the cave and find Anthelea with a light blue cloak in her hands at the bottom of the pit.
Janira instructs the group, Recruits, there are many ways to traverse obstacles like this. Anthelea here has managed to climb down, obviously. One could also leap across. Dont' forget that you have to get back up the others side if you do decide to climb. What would you like to do?

Damiel - Alchemist Iconic |

Damiel is quite astounded that his bombs had such an explosive effect!
”Oh my that was really quite the show! Just perfect! Did you see that thing burn! Burn!!! I have to admit that I never was able to be so precise in training! Desna is smiling today! But you Miss Janira are quite the show as well! I apologise for nothing but understand everything. Or so I hope ... “ Damiel says with a sly smile.
He winks at the Princess and then looks around.
”Where the he** is that posh elf?!“

![]() |

Nennette easily scrambles down the pit and back up the other side. Nennette then scouts ahead, thinking the others would not have a problem with the obstacle.
Has a climb speed of 10

![]() |

Greetings Captain Janira! I am glad that you survived despite the insubordination and recklessness of the rest of the group. Look what I found down here. she says

![]() |

After Nennette comes up on the other side she peeks just around the next bend in the cave she finds a long, 3-foot-wide wooden plank that rests against the cave’s wall.
It looks like you could easily use it to pass back across the pit, were you to come back this way.

![]() |

"Oh...look here...this should help"
Nennette picks up the board and brings it back to the hole and drops it across the opening with a bang.
"Here you go"

![]() |

Walking into the cave, Princess Mindy gently explains to Jimmothy that Janira is not a child. She is a full grown halfling woman that is also a leader in the Pathfinder Society.
"Halflings can grow up to three and a half feet tall; they are great acrobats and climbers, and love to make cozy burrows in the earth. They love carrots, bread, grape juice and cannot resist pastries! We all need to listen to her. Professor Shaine sent her to take notes on how well we listen. This is like a test of admission to a great summoning school and Janira is the teacher and Professor Shaine is the principal."

Damiel - Alchemist Iconic |

Damiel looks down.
”Aha ... now that the posh elf needs help she starts to speak common and acknowledges us as comrades. Would have been great to have you covering our back too. Cooperation is one of the main principles of the Pathfinder Society. And therefore... “ he concludes his sentence by throwing down rope and attaching the rope for her to get up.

Anyone else capable of making the spellcraft check on the cloak?
Having successfully navigated the pit, the party continues onward, with the more magically adept of the group possibly checking the bundle of cloth along the way.
The tunnels continue on, leading deeper beneath the Kortos Mounts until they eventually open into a large cavern. What must have once been beautifully carved reliefs and inscriptions have since weathered heavily, their features dulled and softened to the point that it is hard to distinguish what each once depicted. A wide tunnel exits the cavern on its far side, and blue-burning torches line the passageway’s walls. Even the most basic magical skills easily tell you that these are everburning torches.
The carvings here are different in style from the petroglyphs found elsewhere in the caves, and they appear to be extremely old. Scattered throughout the cave are phrases referencing Aroden, and images that depict these passages.
The carvings focus on parables that feature Aroden’s 12 guises, meant to illustrate his hopes for humanity, however many of the carvings are damaged beyond recognition and only four remain visible. These four are the craftsman, fisherman, merchant, and shepherd.
The Craftsman is depicted creating shoes, pots, jewelry, and other moveable goods, referencing Aroden’s delight at seeing his people express their ingenuity in creating new products from raw materials.
The Fisherman is depicted hauling in an enormous catch of small fsh to take back to Absalom, illustrating Aroden’s declaration that a great host of creatures could accomplish a great task, whether that be taming the wilds or feeding a nation.
The Merchant is depicted weighing and trading coins of different sizes, a reference to the holy text’s proverb that peace brings trade and prosperity to all people.
The Shepherd is depicted herding animals out of a crowded city to the pastures beyond, just as Aroden blessed leaders with the foresight to direct people to the tasks and places that best suit them.

Linguistics, Aquan: 1d20 + 7 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 7 + 2 = 16
Princess Mindy patiently and enthusiastically relays all this information to the party, often switching back and forth between Taldane and Aquan to remember things or find related meanings via the help of linguistics.

Damiel requires Detect Magic as well as the relevant skill. Handouts updated with info about the carvings.

"What's deal? I thought we were here to explore caves, not cloaks."
