discussion is where we discuss things...….

male human bard 6/drunken philosopher 1

I opened recruitment, but I'd like to keep most of our discussion here.

male human bard 6/drunken philosopher 1

Let's talk builds...…

25 point-buy system
Geshtalt (level in 2 classes simultaneously)
start at 3rd level
two traits, no drawbacks
wealth 6,800gp
no 3rd party material
Choose 1 class to be your 'main'. level in that class each level.
core races plus aasimar

male human bard 6/drunken philosopher 1

none of the characters remember the events leading up to the disaster, or the disaster itself. Rather than write a background, write a personality profile.

The Pc's have been together for 6 months now. They have advanced their skills through the trek to Hunterscord and conflict there. Feel free to invent snippits of story from that time. Hunterscord is a farming community with a short but lucrative season growing valuable spices for the south. The conglomerate of villages is protected by a keep in each village center. The total population is about 1,200.

RPG Superstar 2012 Top 32

Wow... background is usually such a big part of developing my character’s personality... I’ll start thinking on it

male human bard 6/drunken philosopher 1

I'll fill in the last 6 months soon.

Male Probably human Computer Scientist 1/ Character Synthesizer 20/ Crazy 99

How are we handling HP? Average? Roll? Max?

male human bard 6/drunken philosopher 1

Average plus 1/2

Male Probably human Computer Scientist 1/ Character Synthesizer 20/ Crazy 99

So a d10 would be 6, right?

male human bard 6/drunken philosopher 1

correct

Male Probably human Computer Scientist 1/ Character Synthesizer 20/ Crazy 99

Sorry, one more question for you, are we using Background Skills and Artistry and Lore?

male human bard 6/drunken philosopher 1

Yes to background skills, I'm not familiar with Artistry and lore.

Male Probably human Computer Scientist 1/ Character Synthesizer 20/ Crazy 99

Artistry covers things like composition, literature, and choreography.
Lore is more like a very specific knowledge. So you could have Lore(Devils), Lore(Abyssal Court), or Lore(Legends of the Grey Wolf Tribe), but not Lore(Planes) or Lore(Local).

I think we will try it without that for now.

male human bard 6/drunken philosopher 1

putting some spoilers in campaign info. feedback welcome.

Male Probably human Computer Scientist 1/ Character Synthesizer 20/ Crazy 99

Could use a little more information on social dynamics. In my case, I'd like to know how aasimar are viewed, and if there's any religions that are oppressing others/being oppressed, specifically ones for Lawful Good deities.

male human bard 6/drunken philosopher 1

Aasimars a most often mistaken for exceptionally good looking humans by most people. Those who do recognize them for what they are, are educated enough to know that they tend to be good, but no other bias' exist.
In the major cities, no misuse or oppression by, or to, organized religion seems to exist, but there are hundreds of towns and villages in Alearen. I'm sure its happening somewhere.

Male Probably human Computer Scientist 1/ Character Synthesizer 20/ Crazy 99

Well, there goes that idea.

I was thinking about having a more knight errant type character, but one that did their best to hide who and what they were. Maybe a rival family looking for a lost heir could work.

male human bard 6/drunken philosopher 1

I touched on it briefly in the intro, don't focus too much on background. The group has no memory of who they are, or where they are from. They awoke in the northern tundra after feeling like they had survived some kind of disaster.
After a hard journey south, they came upon the settlement of Hunterscord. There they spent 5-6 weeks until winter broke, and participated in the defense of the community.
That is all the PC's remember.

Male Probably human Computer Scientist 1/ Character Synthesizer 20/ Crazy 99

Oh right.

Whoops.

okay, I'll just work on the personality part.

RPG Superstar 2012 Top 32

I just noticed that gameplay was open, so dot/deleted it (and will actually see what's going on here now). I'll keeping posting in the other thread though until Lady Ladille is dotted here too and we can switch over here (at which point I'll text goodwicki and ask him to switch the old campaign to inactive).

Here I be!

Checking in to say that I've not forgotten this; just haven't had as much time as I'd have liked lately to do any work on a character. But I have today and tomorrow free so here's hoping I can finally make some progress...

*crosses fingers*

Human* Slayer/Magus 3

Its not complete, but here's a rough draft of my Int based archer (who will pick up trapfinding at 4th level).

Remind me, for gestalts do you just get one FCB selected between your two classes or do you get a FCB option for each one?

Just one :)

Thanks! And with a d8 HD, average + half each level would be what...7 and then whatever the Con bonus is?

Average d8 is 4.5, so average plus half is 5.

Oh...so it's just average rounded up? That makes more sense :)

RPG Superstar 2012 Top 32

average rounded up?!? dang, maybe we should all make paladins...

male human bard 6/drunken philosopher 1

Been quiet for a couple days. no rush, but I wanted to check in and see if anyone needed anything from me.

I'm good but given how busy things have been for me on the PbP front I think it might be best for me to table my participation in this for the time being. Case in point, it's been several weeks already and all I've managed to get done is a basic statblock - haven't even *looked* at equipment yet. And things will also get busier on the IRL side of things as we creep closer to the holidays and (ugh) flu season...

Definitely not that I don't want to play since Nate & Adam have played with me long enough to know that I have a hard time resisting personal invites to game with people I already know I enjoy gaming with - but I really need to be realistic about what I can commit to now and in the future.

Assuming that you go ahead with just Nate & Adam, maybe I can finish up a character and jump in at a later date. But if it'd be easier to get another third for party-building purposes and the like, I totally understand and I'll just cheer you guys on from the sidelines :)

RPG Superstar 2012 Top 32

Well, since Adam hasn’t even gotten a base stat block together yet, I can’t imagine we’re about to start racing forward... my current character is ill suited to playing solo but if you’re chomping at the bit, Joe, I could rebuild to stay Int based but be more self-sufficient and we could start out solo and add others as they’re ready? One of them might have to adjust to pick up more ranged damage potential though...

male human bard 6/drunken philosopher 1

Why don't we table until after the holidays and re-evaluate interest then. If we don't have 3 players then, we can send a few invites.

Sorry guys, wasn't meaning to be a party-pooper on this one. Maybe things will look better after the holidays.

male human bard 6/drunken philosopher 1

I'd probably be a terrible GM anyway.

Pffffft. Don't be silly!

RPG Superstar 2012 Top 32

so, if your wife invites like a dozen 10 year olds to a sleepover for your son's birthday how long do you have to keep it together before its acceptable to grab the most annoying one and start swinging him like Sauron's morningstar at the other ones?

asking for a friend... who's about to start swinging some kid around my living room...

Lol. Try not to make head-to-head contact. They'll recover from everything else.

The weapon's a man, man!

Oh, be sure to livestream it.

RPG Superstar 2012 Top 32

if I never post again please know that its not because I don't want to, it will be because I've been confined to a home for the criminally insane

You've already stayed out longer than I thought you would. ....

2 people marked this as a favorite.

i made it! they only slept from 2:30 to 6:30 but I managed not to lay waste to them like the angry, vengeful god they deserved.

RPG Superstar 2012 Top 32

So, my semester is almost over and I just left one of my frequent posting games... anyone interested in actually getting this game going?

Sure

RPG Superstar 2012 Top 32

Alright, follow up question... if I’m the only player interested right now, do you have any interest in running it as a solo game (or maybe starting that way and then adding others as we go)? If not, how many would you want to have and what characteristics would you most want in players?

I would like to have at lest 2 to start, with the hope of adding one or two more as we went.

Characteristics is a tougher question.
The 'bases' to cover are
1. At least some ability to heal (even if its only a wand).
2. Melee combat capable for both.
3. Diplomacy.
4. Diversified languages.

RPG Superstar 2012 Top 32

With 2 characters we ought to be covering more than just those bases... but I was asking about player characteristics. Ladile might just have notifications turned off for this thread (maybe we should PM her to make sure), but based on the fact that she hasn't responded since we started posting here again I'm guessing she isn't interested in playing this right now... so what are we looking for in another player?
