What did I do to deal with the last shadow thing?
Shadow anything tends to be resistant to physical attack, but far from immune.
Most shadow things you've dealt with were little more then vermin, easily cleaned up with a few good hits.
People who have a shadow being in their house fount them anywhere from mildly annoying to genuinely threatening.
Regardless of their opinions, you didn't see much of them, because it didn't take long to kill them.

(Technically, due to initiative rules and readied actions, miachel could be moving now, and the DR now has initiative directly before the monster, but it gets really complicated if you do that word-for-word in a play by post, so please just roll with what I've set up here.)
