Dieredon D'atarisian |
Ok, let's do this! Randall - do you have a map of the front entrance other than the one you provided so that we can place ourselves accordingly? I think we are ready.
DM randall793 |
I'm seeing the plan guys, cool. Now, you're planning to execute this soon? Or any other time frame?
As Wesh start to dip inside the long ago sack given by his current employer, his fingers brush against other things long f o r g o t t e n.
DM randall793 |
Your team is currently on the path heading up the small plateau where the mansion's situated. The info given by the captured man is spot on as you spot two sentries on the incline. They haven't spotted you yet. Current range is 120 feet to nearest sentry who is about 30 feet abreast from each other. The smoke witnessed from the riverside is visible from the plateau crest, but the building itself is not visible, obstructed by the incline.
Luckily they haven't started to notice the delay of their pail carrying friends.
Situation: Day, afternoon, clear.
If you want to creep closer then roll for stealth. Your mounts, bar Betony is safely at the riverside, alongside your secured prisoner.
Dieredon D'atarisian |
Dieredon motions the group close and whispers,
Rianna, what is the range on your sleep spell? I need to get about ten feet closer for a better range with my longbow.
Dieredon D'atarisian |
Diredon moves 15 feet closer into the trees just off the path with his bow drawn. He will remain as silent as possible and be prepared to shoot either sentry if they do not succumb to the sleep spell.
Stealth (no minus for half movement): 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (17) + 9 = 26
Björnhildr Helsingrdøttir |
The jotunn-sized druidess nods nonchelantly at the others plan, like a mother bear appeasing her young. She growls quietly and affixes her gaze on the sentries...
Bjornhildr is within range of the guards for a mighty charge should it be required - with her Predator's Grace, Woodland Stride and Run x4 means she'll get to them in a round...
@Randall: Summon Grizzly scroll - one for Bjorn nei?
DM randall793 |
Rianna and Dieredon creeps forward with care. The two posted sentries continue on, oblivious of the current unraveling drama. The swish of the trees, blowing on a gentle breeze gives a settling background atmosphere.
Rianna, in position starts murmuring a sweet lullaby, the arcane energies enveloping her intended target.
1d20 - 1 ⇒ (15) - 1 = 141d20 - 1 ⇒ (11) - 1 = 10
The sentries roll their eyes before falling prone, asleep. The nature of the incline seems to mask their current predicament.
Dieredon D'atarisian |
Dieredon pops his head out from cover, and motions that he will continue forward through the trees with Long Bow drawn as they approach the next set of sentries, planning the same maneuver as a group that worked on the initial sentries.
Stealth: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (6) + 9 = 15
DM randall793 |
The team approaches the plateau of the incline..
A two level mansion sits atop the plateau. From your view point, a single archer sits near the doorway, looking distracted as he inspects his arrow heads in his quiver.
Some grey smoke is rising to the right, the fire-pit currently being stoked for the night.
Dieredon D'atarisian |
Dieredon surveys the scene aand whispers to Rianna,
We are in range...go ahead.
Perception: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (10) + 9 = 19
Björnhildr Helsingrdøttir |
The druidess of the North sniffs the air, tastes the breeze and scowls at the building;
Perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (16) + 6 = 22
Softly she hisses to her cubs;
"In the common room, a shadow bearing fire can be seen... the shroud of dust hides it to most of you... but not a hún björn's eyes..."
hún björn = she bear
Skäne “Countless” Ingvârssonn |
At Bjornhildr's words Skane scowls in the direction of the building but can discern nothing.
Perception +1 so Skane ain't seeing jack...
He shrugs his heavy shoulders and readies notched shield and axe. He nods at Wesh...
"Remember Prestur Wesh, your healing is valued if you need protection my shield will be there!"
Dieredon D'atarisian |
Dieredon motions from the trees to Countless by pointing at the two sleeping sentries and drawing his finger across his neck before turning his attention back on the sentry at the frnt door.
DM randall793 |
Rianna takes her own time, singing a sweet lullaby, it arcane power carrying it, being just in range.
Will: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (6) - 1 = 5
Predictably, the archer sentry slumps down, leaning against the wall, and begins to snore.
The sight of a sentry falling asleep on duty brings prompt attention to the figure inside the mansion. An armed shield bearer comes from the main doors and checks up the sleeping sentry. A quick boot and the sentry is kicked awake. A quick shout from the swordsman hails a corded half-orc and soon a scene of an argument takes place near the front doors, making it a small crowd. Gesturing and half-heard pleas from the victimized archer make the scene lively.
Popcorn and continue watching?
Dieredon D'atarisian |
Diredon mutters under his breadth,
Damn!
He still has his arrow drawn on the scene, and he waits to see what unfolds before firing.
DM randall793 |
Wesh gingerly takes out the skyrocket from its sack and points it to the clumped mass of enemies. Lighting it up, he watches as the fuse burns brightly before it disappears into the rocket body and takes light in a screaming shower of sparks and smoke.
Aiming at the ground or at a particular enemy?
Flies for 1d6 ⇒ 4 rounds at 90 feet per round. Choose what you're targeting. Who's dispatching the sleepers, btw?
Surprise round, state actions.
Initiative rolls please.
Dieredon D'atarisian |
Skane: That was my signal to you - kill the two sleeping sentries closest to us. :-)
Dieredon will target the individual who looks to be in charge in the mass of individuals at the door, taskmaster, on his surprise round.
Long Bow ATT v. Favored Enemy: 1d20 + 6 + 2 ⇒ (12) + 6 + 2 = 20
Long Bow DAM v. Favored Enemy: 1d8 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 1 + 2 = 5
Initiative: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 = 9
Skäne “Countless” Ingvârssonn |
Apologies gang - will get my Game Face on, not following the posts closely enough and thus the confusion!
@Randall: Skane and Bjorn will dispatch the sentries...
Coup de Grace: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5 + 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7 + 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8 = 20 damage total
Skane steps up with a grim smile and chops into the furthermost sleeping bandit...
Initiative: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (12) + 2 = 14
DM randall793 |
The Northmen wakes up the sleepers, introducing them to Pharasma's realm. Dieredon's arrow sails through the air catching the taskmaster's shoulder, the pain halting his verbal tirade.
Actions in surprise round
Skane and Bjornhildr are dicing up the sleepers.
The Brambleknight is charging up through the middle.
Dieredon fires and hits the Taskmaster.
Wesh fires a rocket and it's on its way, currently at V17, reaching target next round.
Rianna is watching the rocket fly.

On Wesh's init count the rocket arrives at destination. Wesh vs AC7, 1d20 ⇒ 14, on target.
The rocket continues its flight, flying straight at the door before it strikes and gets itself stuck. The rocket motor continues to spew out flames and smoke which lingers around. The smoke also creates a Obscuring Mist like effect, centered at Q14, 10 foot large.
Wesh and Skane to act..
MAP
Skäne “Countless” Ingvârssonn |
Skane grimly smiles as he turns blood flecked and begins a purposeful run towards the assembled foes... then stops and crouches low behind his shield, bellowing back to his brave companions;
"Kljúfa þeirra lunga með blóð og þruma!"
Skane runs (x3 movement = 60ft to Z:17, then crouch (2 x Move Actions)
Kljúfa þeirra lunga með blóð og þruma! = Split their lungs with blood and thunder!
DM randall793 |
@Skane, with 60 feet, you could get to Z16 if you want to. @Wesh, with 30 feet you could only reach to AD25. I'll use Skane's stated movements if there's no change, Wesh ends up at AD25.
The arguing sentries quickly adopt a battle position, seeing their Taskmaster sprouting an arrow. Shuffling to the edge of the smoke, they nock arrows and loose fire.

Skane takes cover beneath his trusty shield as arrows rain upon him. One of them grazes his shin, drawing first blood.
The taskmaster disappears into deeper within the smoke. Soon a trumpeting call rings out, loud and clear.
Taskmaster

Within the mansion, sounds of shouting and heavy footsteps are heard, responding to the call.
Dieredon, Betony, Rianna, Bjornhildr your turn.
