Wesh will put out the burning incense as there is little sense in wasting it.


Rosslyn notices an unemptied chamberpot beneath the bed next to a small chest, which on quick inspection is locked. An aura of faint enchantment is detected within by Silar.

Dieredon opens up the Western door without incident and is greeted by the smell of cooped up wet clothes, filled chamberpots and stale food. You could see a lounge with a small table flanked by two chairs in the center of the 25 x 40 ft room. Some other chairs are placed in the room corners. On the table sits an unlit lantern, with a deck of cards next to it.

A partition is located North to the lounge where the decors of a master bedroom could be seen. Situated in the room is a large double bed, its design seemed made for the master of the mansion but recently poorly kept. The room feels it has been lived in for quite a while.

A cursory glance sees a footlocker at the base of the bed. A desk is seen in the bedroom with a half full glass and a bottle upon it. A quiver full of arrows is seen hanging upon the wall. A smaller coffee table has stacks of plates on it, with stale meals still remaining.

Whatever is in the box could be used to charm a person as per spell.

So it's in the box, not the box itself. If Rosslyn has nothing against it, I'll open the box and take a look inside.


Silar attempts to routinely open the box, only to find it clammed up tight. It seems some forceful coaxing or gentle manipulation may be needed to open up the lock.

Rosslyn chuckles. "I'll open it."

Excited to pull out her tools, she reveals a leather roll kit with a number of intrcately designed manipulation devices. She practically ignores the possibility of traps as she deftly springs the lock.

Disable Device: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (19) + 12 = 31


Striding into the western room Bjorn(hildr) balefully glares at the impatient alfur, then turns attentions to the bottle in the master chamber, giving it a good sniff before shouting to Skane and taking a hearty swig;

"Fleiri suður- hland neitun efi bróðir?!"

Perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (20) + 7 = 27

Skane busy appreciating the skills that the newcomers are demonstrating hears Bjorn(hildr)'s Skaldic words and grins, moving to join the other Viking.

Rosslyn, we have a chest in here that could use your attention when you are finished over there!


As Rosslyn opens the box's lock, it clicks and as the lid opens a second click is heard. A small spark jumps from a hidden mechanism inside the upper lid, lighting up a small journal nestled in a bed of tinder-twigs, which light up spectacularly, consuming the journal's paper readily. A small flask of steel sits next to the small fire as well, yet untouched by the flames.

The wine smells fruity, fine and natural. It seems safe to drink. The arrows on the wall look well crafted.

Bjorn(hildr) smiles and gulps down more of the tasty wine.

"Arrows look good quality alfur... for the bowfolk amongst us... For others THIS... (raises the bottle skyward)... will suffice har-har-har!"

Skane stops mid stride as he hears Rosslyn cry out and hustles gruffly back towards the rogue.

A flash of burning tinder jumps from the burning book to land on Rosslyn.

The fire consumes the book readily and soon only the steel flask remains.

Meanwhile Dieredon counts the masterwork arrows and counts 20 of them. Only the footlocker and desk remain uninvestigated.

Unless you folks find something that needs to be deciphered, I'm gonna visit with Betony...I mean I'll watch the outside with Betony until you folks finish searching the place.

Rianna steps outside acknowledging Betony and Thist before she begins dancing around on the porch, idly spending her time lost in her dance.

Wesh looks up the desk for traps, but there is no indication of any. On further examining, a small cache of writing paper, quills and ink is found within.

Rosslyn calls out after Rianna, "Um... Can you read ash?"

Still, she just shakes her head, sucking on her fingers to cool them down. Grabbing the steel flask, she hands it out, saying, "Would someone like to examine this while I go check the next room?"

Rosslyn hands over the flask and heads into the next room.

Silar handles the flask and it uncaps without problems. A orange smelling liquid is swirling inside.

The manse remains tranquil after the battle. Dusk is approaching, the shadows in the rooms growing ever darker and longer.

The footlocker in the master bedroom remains to be opened, so far no signs of malignant mechanisms are seen on the outside.

The room on the right at the parlor remains investigated. Rosslyn opens the door as initial glance indicates it to be safe. Inside, an oil lamp is burning on the sole desk to the East wall. The rooms looks to be 25x30 feet big. A double bed is situated next to the entry door. On the floor various items are scattered about, a pair of religious symbols, a whetsone, some uneaten portions of meat on a plate, an opened wine bottle and a clutch of mushrooms.

Skane notes the fine make of the harp in the parlor, but the accumulated dust indicates it has not been played recently.

Rianna and the Brambleknight is downstairs at the doors, the rest are upstairs, searching..correct?

Rosslyn looks with excitement at the oil lamp--people were here just before the invasion, this was their most immediately important work!

She creeps over by the desk and starts examining what was left out--spending a bit more time to look for traps on the desk drawers.

The footlocker opens with a creak, and Wesh peers inside the contents.

=A small sack lies at the footlocker base, its noose loose and a handful of silver coins spilling out of it.
=An ornate scroll is propped up next to it, tied with some string and rolled up.
=A leather bound ledger is also amongst the contents.
=An assortment of clean clothing makes up the rest of the locker's innards.

Wesh also notices the saw-toothed metal edge of the locker's lid.

Rosslyn opens up the drawers and clear the items within.

Only blood flecked whip lies curled within with a small manual detailing manners of supplication via the whip and other pain related activities dedicated to "our lady".

Wesh will pick up the ledger and hand it to Silar. and take the silver coins. he also will take the scroll.


Wesh picks up the ledger and passes it over to Silar. As he continues to pick up the coin laden sack, an audible 'click' is heard, immediately followed by a quick snap and the locker's lid moves in to snap at Wesh's hand.

As Wesh stems the wound from his caught arm, a wave of sleepiness washes over him, but he shakes it off.

The removal of the the silver coin laden sacks reveal a pressure plate, triggering the snapping lid.

A count of coins reveal 783 silver pieces, 11 gold pieces, a singular platinum coin and 142 copper coins. A half dozen black onyx gems is also found within the sack of varying sizes.

Anywhere else the team would like to investigate?
