Ah, yes. All of my characters have crossbows...
"I'll have to do better than that!" Oti chides himself.

Mujembai and Unapp both shrug off the web with ease and advance upon the creature.
Is the spider on the map? Cannot seem to see it.

Arent vermin immune to mind affecting effects? Then again, I suppose Marco wouldn't necessarily know that.
Looks like you're right. I don't spend much time reading the bestiaries, and it never occurred to me that something that has a brain would be mindless.

![]() |

Seeing Mujenbai and Unapp busted from the web, Frindlikh gains some courage, and throws another knife at the spider.

Yeah it kinda doesnt make sense, especially with a spell like Color Spray which produces its effect in a manner similar to a Flash Bang. Being immune to stuff like Phantasmal Killer makes sense though.
With no options left to affect the creature, Jorag simply held his ground, ready to assist his allies.
Ready action to Bit of Luck whoever gets to attack the Spider next.

Spider
Marco's Color Spray dazzles the eye, but appears to have no effect on the spider. Mujebai and Unap break their webbing but the sticky shreds cling to them still.
Otiophon's arrow pierces the spider deeply, she screeches in pain and climbs down toward where Mujenbai and Unapp struggle to free themselves from the last remnants of the sticky web, twitching her mandibles in anticipation. She lunges toward the little dinosaur, thinking it still vulnerable and hisses angrily when Unapp dodges out of the way of her poisonous bite.
Spider is on the ground now, though the token still looks the same.

![]() |

Oti drops his shortbow, retrieves his longsword, and steps forward towards the monstrous spider, shouting, looking to draw its attention from Unapp.

Unapp tears into his foe with avengeance, while Mujembai slashes with his scimitar but finds it rendered clumsy by strands of still clinging web.
Unapp Bite: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (18) + 5 = 23 Damage: 1d4 ⇒ 4

Marco shakes his head. With little else to do, he moves to Unapp, and casts a spell that may benefit him if the spider hits him with a poisonous bite.
Casts resistance to give Unapp +1 to bonuses for 1 minute.

![]() |

Damn this! There's nothing I can do... Frindlikh considers throwing in another knife, but is reluctant to do so, of fear of hitting any of his allies. This spider is a hard target. Moving fast too.
Eventually, seeing an opening, he throws his knife anyway (but misses).
Attack: 1d20 + 5 - 4 ⇒ (6) + 5 - 4 = 7

Seeing the spider had already sustained several carapace crunching hits, Jorag settled for watching and waiting, ready to assist but for now content to once again enjoy the display of prowess.
Continually delaying for now.

Released from their webbing, Mujenbai and Unapp proceed to shred and slice the spider into an unrecognizable heap of legs and goo.
Combat Over! I'll update your map soon so you can make plans for moving forward.
Edit: Ok, your maps are updated, let me know which way you want to go and I will update again accordingly.

After retrieving his weapons, Oti stuffs the derro into a large, waterproof bag and ties it closed. "This should keep the body safe until we come back for it; this is undeniable proof the derro are near the surface of this city."
1d2 ⇒ 1
"Should we go East or South?" Oti asks. Mentally flipping a coin, he suggests, "How about East?"

![]() |

"Its all the same to me really." Jorag mumbled from the rear, trying to raise his shoulder higher to look a little further down either way. "We should probably nominate someone to decide so we dont waste time. If anyone disagrees with a particular decision at any point he may simply voice his opinion. As point man I nominate Oti. Sound good?"

![]() |

Having a nominated front man is generally speaking a choke point for PBP and slows things down. So I prefer whoever is willing and posts first.
"East is fine, whoever moves first takes point," Mujembai says moving forward behind Unapp.

The dark, fetid sewers beneath Cassomir stretch out before you, echoing the sounds of water lapping, pouring out of pipes that come in from every direction, many of them more foul than the last. Occasional splashes in the distance remind you of the rodents that must infest this place, but they stay out of view.
Frindlikh slips into the shadow, silent as the grave and scouts the way south and east. A slight glow of light emanates from the room just beyond your view. Frindlikh and Otiophon hear the distant shuffle of some activity, though they are not sure what it is.

![]() |

Mujembai and Unapp move forward listening and ready, but not bothering with stealth as it is clear to the druid the group cannot be expected to sneak up on anyone.

"Yeah, there's something there" Frindlikh whispers. Better be careful. Frindlikh takes the time to draw out his knives (a throwing knife in his main hand, kukri in the other), and tries to stelthily move a bit closer to where the sound is coming from.

Mujenbai moves to a position to see into the room ahead, but unfortunately it is a case of see and be seen as a man cries out a warning and points out the party. A somewhat familiar voice sounds, "Drop that and kill the intruders, you bug-eyed oafs!"
Two small blue creatures with bulbous heads and enormous eyes, squinting in the dim light draw blades and begin to plod dutifully to intercept your party.
This room appears to have once been the basement of the building above, the wall separating the basement from the sewer long ago smashed in and repaired, giving it the appearance of a natural part of the sewer system. The ceiling here is 30 feet high and the room is lit by torches in the north and south walls. Stacks of crates and barrels line the north wall, and a set of finely carved stone stairs start on the south wall and make their way up and around the west wall to a door high above the room in the northwest corner. This room is clean and well-maintained, a harsh difference from the sewer just outside the archway. The torches provide normal light within 20 feet of the north and south walls, and dim illumination in a small bit of shadow at the center of the room.

Moved it for you. 3 blocks east, 1 block north, right? Should there be sneak attack damage to that attack? Aren't people flat-footed until their turn comes up in round 1, or is that just when there's a surprise round?
Edit to add action:
Marco moves up to see around the corner. He fires a bolt of force at the man.

Frindlikh
Marco
Mujenbai of Unapp - Mujenbai is confused, takes 4 self-inflicted damage. Unapp is shaken.
Enemies
Upon laying eyes on the man, Frindlikh has no doubt that this is a Teppish. Grench Teppish is the spitting image of his recently deceased twin brother, all the way down to his choice of weapon. The rogue's dagger finds its mark, slicing the man's throat; a foreshadowing of his short future.
Marco's touch attack fails to connect and Mujenbai and Unapp move into position.
The man steps away from the fierce looking dinosaur carefully, minding it's claws, and the moves into the corner at the base of the stairs. He points at Mujenbai and speaks, though the sound is broken and strange, almost as if he were talking backwards. The druid's brows knit together in confusion, and he is suddenly sure the only way to defeat this foe is to turn his sword on himself. On Mujenbai's next turn he will inflict 4 damage on himself with his own weapon.
Marco is unable to guess at what the small blue creatures are, but as Grench barks orders at them in a strange language, he can guess that they are slaves of some kind. They move slowly and deliberately to do as they are ordered, gesturing and uttering some incantation. Mujenbai seems too effected by whatever the dark cleric hit him with to notice, but Unapp begins to shake.
A shaken character takes a –2 penalty on attack rolls, saving throws, skill checks, and ability checks.

Oti can't see what is around the corner and so hustles around it, past his friends, and into the mess of combat, seeking to draw what attacks he can and break the impasse.
Double move, drawing an AoO from the first mite.

![]() |

Moving quickly down the corridor, Jorag could soon tell the narrow walkway was crowded with his allies. Making a decision, he kept going straight, attempting to leap across the foul sewer water.
Acrobatics(jump): 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (6) + 6 = 12
Making the jump easily, he turned to assess the situation. Catching the tell tale signs that Otiphon was about to go on the offensive, he called upon Kurgess to guide the Iomedaeans hand. Frindlikh was about to spring into action, he called upon Kurgess aid for the plucky rogue.
Bit of Luck on Oti Frindlikh
Oti was apparently in the midst of posting when I looked at the map, so he had move his icon and I though he would be able to attack.

![]() |

Steps away carefully? This sounds like a 5ft., but then he could not have a move action. I'm not aware of any ability that allows you to avoid AoOs without an acrobatics roll, withdrawing, etc., and then still have a move action. Are you sure this is correct bluedove?

"rats, he's off" frindlikh, facing the derro, holds his attack until Oti moves, hoping for a flank. It the meantime, he draws his special knife.

Otiophon draws a swipe as he moves through, but the attack is so badly aimed as to be laughable.
Frindlikh's knives are not forgiving of this error as he finds his mark, one blade after another. The blue creature falls under the assault, bleeding out.
Grench Teppish reaches out to try and touch Otiophon, but Oti dodges out of the way of the clumsy grab easily.
The other blue creature aims a dart at the paladin, but it clangs to the floor uselessly.
These creatures are not derro, they are mites. A rather nasty and pathetic type of underground dwelling fey.

Otiophon and Frindlikh stab at the cleric with unyielding judgement as Unapp rends with tooth and claw. Grench Teppish falls to multiple wounds, blood pooling beneath him rapidly. The last blue creature drops his blades and raises his hands in supplication as soon as the cleric is dispatched.

Figuring it prudent to atleast stabilize the Teppish cleric, just in case, Jorag moved to his side, applying the healing power of Kurgess to yet another enemy. "I guess I should count myself lucky I have yet to use this power on any of my allies, but it still feels rather odd to spend so much time healing enemies." He muttered, looking the downed cleric over, searching for signs that he was still dying, and having a look at what he carried.

"So, to answer your question, Jorag, I have a reason supplied by the Andorans, and I'll have to trust it is a good one - though I would get the party's thoughts first. These creatures may be some of the Darklands denizens who are slaves to the derro and their human allies, and so should be released from their slavery. Perhaps they will at least find a way to fight against our common enemy, if not become allies of good. Does anyone speak the language or languages of the Darklands?"
Oti draws his wand of curing and expends the charges necessary to revive the downed blue creature, but still has his sword at ready. Deeds may speak louder than words, anyway.
"I'll leave the question of whether to save Teppish to others."
