So what is the deal with the RealmWorks announcement?
This seems fascinating.... This makes me want to play with this software to see what it can do.
It also makes me wonder just how deep the partnership between Paizo and Lone Wolf Dev will go.... If I was the entrepenuer who came up with HeroLab I would be itching to sell it off to Paizo for gads of money and then start a new project...

Oh yea - and screw you Lions for making me think it would be worth it to stay up and watch that game.
Screw. You.
Go Spartans.
Damien - Should have had you put that bet down for me on the Spartans to win the national championship instead of the Lions. What was I thinking?

I'm fine with the Heresy, but I've played the second part. So I'd need to either run it or stand it out.
Jyri, you could replay it if you've gotten a GM star (only takes 10 games -- you must be close).
@Steve -- you can only replay for no credit if you are meeting the min table requirements (3 or 4) -- otherwise it is verbotten.
@John - I have gotten mine from a previous table.

Sorry for the relative radio silence this weekend, much less time for the boards than I expected. Should be all caught up.
On the bright side - All the christmas lights are up on the house, and I didn't actually have a heart attack watching the Spartans beat Iowa on saturday. I was pretty sure I was going to black out at some point in the last 9:31 though...
Whew... what a game!

As an FYI - I am down to one game being GMed, so will be available to start up The Enigma Vaults, if you are all still interested.
We may want to replace Chris B (I think I can recruit someone for that), or just play with 5. Got a couple of options (such as Keith or AJ)

@ Silbeg: Hey, dude. I'll also have to pass on having Vox join up for the next Slayer's adventure. I'm trying to keep to 3 active games, and the Slayers would put me up to 4. So I'll be holding off too, sorry man. Hope everyone else has a great time though, and I hope everyone survives!

I'd much prefer to just shelve Arturo and keep playing Drongos non-stop from now through to Eyes of the Ten. Especially now that GM Bold Strider is running for us!
As for the Alts, I'm really enjoying playing some low level scenarios again. Paizo tends to release more low level ones than higher, so I'd still like to play those simultaneously with the Drongos so I've got some chance of getting some season 7 in this coming year.

Honestly, I know that Damien and Lockwood aren't down, but I am up for resuming Thronkeep in the future. Things have slowed down for me which is great with Christmas approaching, but I would like to return to it someday. Not sure if I would use Ophiuchus. I seem to be logger jamming tier 3-4 with now 3 characters there.
Anywho, Bold Strider, I cannot thank you enough. The chance to play with Lort, Gunari and Amaranti is fantastic. I don't think we have ever all adventured together at the same time (minus the bar fight).

Ok, so it has been almost three weeks since I have reported my PbP Gameday IV game and I still have not received my boon.
Emailed Jesse and PM'd him with no response.
Is there a thread with PbP IV concerns that I could try?
Stefan - did you get yours yet? I included our information in the emails and PM.

I did get mine, but it was some time after I finished my game. (can't remember exactly, but it was several weeks) He is also likely trying to wrap up the specials.... If you need it soon you can have mine and give me yours later :)

Sorry all for my lack of postage yesterday. We were setting up the Christmas tree and baking Christmas cookies (German-style... so awesome).
Slices of bratwurst inside the dough? Beer instead of water?
I'm half-german, you can't point fingers at me. Those finger rays are deflected.

I miss being in Germany... Oh Bavaria, you lovely place.

My wife and I are taking my 7 year old daughter through all the previous movies. Finished 4 through 6 earlier this week, just finished episode 1 this morning.
I know everyone says the 'new' 3 are awful, but I am a simple man and easily entertained. So far my daughter likes them. Leia is her obvious favorite.
Family movie night at the theater coming soon...

Just wanted to let everyone know I will be offline for Christmas eve and Christmas.
I wanted to take the time to say thank you to everyone who has run games and played in games I have been in. PbP Has really been a bright spot in my life this last year and a half and I look forward to more great times to come.
May you all have a blessed Christmas and stay safe.
Don't forget the reason for the season. Even though Jesus was clearly born in the springtime and the damned pagans had to high jack his birth to coincidence with saturnalia.
Papasteve08 |
I read they changed it to coincide with the pagan winter solstice festival.
And actually it was just a Mass that the roman catholics went to. Used to be very low key. Christ's Mass (say that three times fast)
There was a cardinal in the church in the poland area as the church began to spread across Europe. He was known for his incredible generosity. He is known as Saint Nicklaus. His "Day" on the church calendar was December 6th. According to stories there were once three women who could not afford dowries (back in those days you had to pay someone to marry your daughter, or they became slaves). So good 'ole Saint Nick tossed three gold balls into their window. They happened to be drying their socks over the fire (they didn't have Maytags back then) and whaddya know? the balls of gold landed in the socks. (ever gotten an orange in your stocking?)
Other versions of that story say that the money landed in their shoes, which were placed on the doorstep (Dutch tradition instead of stockings over the mantel) and other slightly different version say it was gold coins, not gold balls (ever gotten gold foil wrapped chocolate in your stocking?)
The truth of the details of the story are debateable. But Saint Nick is a Saint because the truth of his overwhelming generosity are not. He was a wealthy man who gave everything he had to the poor and needy. And not just one day a year.
To wrap up the legend (historically verifiable person by the way) of Saint Nick, he was a cardinal (cardinals wear red) who lived in a northern climate that is extremely cold most of the year (hence the fuzzy red suit)
Why do we call him Santa Clause? Because Dutch Settlers in New York pronounced Saint Nick "Sinter Klaus" which was Americanized into Santa Claus.
Eventually, the tradition of giving gifts on "Saint Nickolaus day" was moved to the same day as "Christ's Mass" for reasons that I do not know.
In the end, you have traditions and a celebration that was all because a church celebrated the birth of the Savior, and a man in a red suit gave everything he had to other people because of his love of Jesus.
So yes, Jesus is the reason for the season. Even the Santa Claus part.

Merry Holidays all! Thank you for bringing me into such an awesome group.

Great to have you captaining our ship, Bold Strider. It's been awesome - both to have you as a GM, and to have the whole crew (minus Miro) adventuring together.
So, in other news...
I wanted to raise an issue I'm having at the moment. I'm struggling to keep up with RL while also GMing two simultaneous games. I really enjoy running both, but I have to be realistic long term.
So, come with me on my mental journey for a bit...
I really want to complete the RoW AP over PbP. It has 1-2 years to go, depending upon pace.
Isle of Dread is fun for me. Again depending upon pace, it has about 6-8 months to go (I won't be doing the kingdom building aspect - it is time consuming and the group would self-destruct).
Book 3 of RoW is (in retrospect) a bit of a crappy one. It's essentially a series of 3 connected dungeons that make it essentially an entire AP book devoted to a single mega-dungeon. Not much else. It's set in Iobaria, but goes nowhere of note in that region (single remote location that could be plonked into any northern land... or southern, really, since it's internal to a dungeon).
So! I would like to pound through book 2 and finish it in the next 3 or so months. This would require a bit more commitment from you guys. I'd like to see a 2 post minimum per day. I will step up my GMing appropriately and attempt an evening post in addition to my morning and afternoon posts. I will also change the name so that it appears closer to the top of everyone's alphabetical campaign lists. That sounds silly, I know, but I think it will make a difference.
I can't and won't ask you to do this for anyone else's games, but if it comes down to it and you have a choice between activity on Isle of Dread or Reign of Winter... until book 3, please choose Reign of Winter.
When book 2 is over, I will shift the campaign into 'story mode' for book 3 where I reveal much of the plot without requiring any rolls from you guys. This will allow us to skip through the dungeon crawl but also give us time to focus on the RP elements of the characters. It will also mean I can sit back some more as GM. I would expect this to be about the same pace through the books but with much fewer posts required.
That story mode will let me concentrate on Isle of Dread and really finish it well. When that is over, book 4 and onwards for RoW. Book 4 is way out the box as far as most adventures are concerned, and I think will be a ton of fun.
So, what do you think guys? Can we do it? Focus some more of our efforts to get book 2 of RoW done and then move into more of a 1 x GM Damo game at a time?

Hey, dudes. I wanted to give you all a heads up that I will have a hard time posting today/tonight. I'm taking my nieces and nephew to the final fantasy-distant worlds symphony in Chicago tonight for their Christmas present. So... I'll be a bit tied up and will catch up on our games soon.
Papasteve08 |
Just wanted to mention here that I am only running one game, and its PFS (where the majority of the work is already done for you) and I can hardly do that. Running two games would be a monumental task, IMO. So I am all on board with you wanting to get down to one, and I have mad respect for you sticking with your commitment to finish them both. (Coffee is for Closers!)
Sign me up for 2 posts/day on RoW to help you get that to the end of book 2.
