Hello everyone. Recently I've been having trouble with my RL groups and haven't been able to get together for some time. As such, I would love to get a PbP group up and running.
I wish to run a PbP Jade Regent game with 4 players. This will be on a first come, first serve basis. The first four people to express interest will become my players. Those four may then use this thread to discuss character ideas.
Rules for character creation:
Starting Status: 1st level characters
Ability Scores: 20 Point Buy
Race: Any core race.
Class: Any class is fine but I'd like it if we did not use Eastern classes, (Samurai and Ninja). Archetypes will most likely be allowed but I would like you to run them by me first.
Starting Gold: Average for your chosen class
Other Information: You may pick one trait for your character. I highly recommend this trait be drawn from the Jade Regent Players Guide. Preferably, no two people will take the same trait.
Feel free to ask questions. I am here to serve and ensure you guys enjoy yourselves.
Hope to hear back from you in the near future.

Alright then, looks like we have our 4 players. A Ranger, a Paladin, an Oracle (or witch), and an undeclared. Welcome to the group everyone.
Treygan, don't worry about it. I can help cover for you during the week if you tell me what direction you want to head with his roleplaying. (Or we could just delay the beginning of the campaign until you return. Either way works.)
Seika of the Rushing Waters
I don't mind delaying for Traygan. We can use the week to adjust our characters. If everyone can post their roles and the general mechanics of their character, that would be a good start.
Here is for Seika:
Scout/ranged combatant. Helps the party get along in the wild.
Can take an archtype to get trapfinding if we don't have a rogue.
Can switch to being a druid if we need a divine caster.

i don't mind waiting for a week or having the DM NPC traygan for a bit.
i'll take us a few days in real time to get the party going with presentation etc anyway.
if dathom goes for a melee inquisitor i'll remake into a casting oracle (different race/mystery). if he goes range inquisitor i'll stick with current oracle
Treygan Gorski
Firstly, thank you for the opportunity GM, and I'm fine if you want to start before I get back.
Let's see, general role. Treygan will definitely be a melee type Paladin. I also plan to keep Diplomacy up to be the face of the group. The background itself is fairly open to a variety of other classes if Paladin wouldn't be the best option.
Few questions of my own.
1) Will we be using any of the alternate rules from the Jade Regent Player's Guide?
2)How do you plan to do combat, or have you decided?
Seika of the Rushing Waters
Seika, I think you'll be fine as you are. Ranger is probably one of the most useful classes for Jade Regent. In addition, I don't think you'll need to worry about traps. They are so few and far between in Jade Regent that you guys should be able to easily tank the few that you encounter.
Awesome! I'll start bringing her mechanics up to spec then.
William-Scott Hathaway
1. Yes. Rules for relationships and caravans as presented in the Player's Guide will be in use.
2. For combat, I like it when we post in order according to initiative. This can sometimes be slow, but it is also the simplest method. Some battles will have maps provided for then, others will not, it depends entirely on whether or not the AP has those maps provided. I plan on using Roll20 as a means to share maps and easily allow for dungeon exploration.
Also, a question for all of you, what timezone do you live in?
Seika of the Rushing Waters
Well this is an embarrassing turn of events: Apparently the GM of a We be Goblins game that I'm a part of is running that module as a prequel to his very own Jade Reagent adventure. Since it doesn't make much sense for me to be in 2 JR games at once (I completely forgot about the Goblins game being a prequel), I would like to withdraw Seika from this game unless anyone has major objections. Again I apologize for hitting that reply button before taking inventory of the games I'm in. :P
William-Scott Hathaway
Well... that's a shame. In that case, I wish you the best of luck in your run through the Jade Regent.
Edit: I was actually just about to PM you Yossarin. At the very least, one post a day, but I often have plenty of extra time on my hands and keep up a pretty decent rate of posts per day. Whatever you are most comfortable with, I'll be able to match.
dathom
For my sorcerer, I was wondering if it would be ok to usethe Tatooed Sorcerer archetype provided here: http://www.d20pfsrd.com/classes/core-classes/sorcerer/archetypes/paizo---so rcerer-archetypes/tattooed-sorcerer
As a Varisian sorcerer, I think that this would add nice flavor to the character.
My posting location is currently PST, but I will most likely be moving to Washington DC area in a few weeks.
Miles of Magnimar
And here is the rogue I thought up today. I have the crunch in the profile and I need just a bit of time to tinker with the backstory, but basically I opted to use a campaign trait (I always try to use them in an adventure path even when there might be better choices) to be Sandru's best buddy since kid days.
Only thing is, Miles knows his older brother, too. And for a while, his older brother has been Miles' boss. But Miles keeps details like that to himself, knowing full well Sandru may know that in spite of their friendship and Sandru's "safe distance" from the Scarzini, Miles has been a Scarzini B&E specialist operating out of Magnimar for years. Thus, Miles has every reason to come up to Sandpoint to visit Sandru (and maybe get a kiss out of Ameiko this time around - who knows? Anything can happen.)
That's just the bare bones and I will flesh it out more significantly later.
Since you were wondering about Archetypes, I opted to go with the Burglar archetype because I find it interesting. The only change it has is giving up Uncanny Dodge and Improved Uncanny Dodge to be a little better at disarming traps and, later on, to be a little better at sneaking around.
Aerin Starsong
So we have 3 melee : paladin, oracle, rogue :
Paladin: Diplomat + Evil killer and regular 2hander brute...
Rogue: Indoor stealth master , finesse rapier gouru
Oracle: Outdoorsy tracker, some knowledge, some diplomacy, club mistress
and a sorcerer:
of the tatooed artist (maybe arcane bloodline?) version
Treygan Gorski
Paladin: Diplomat + Evil killer and regular 2hander brute...
You almost make it sound like a bad thing :(
But seriously, about to head out for my flight (stupid waking at 3am for it). I'm planning on perusing Champions of Purity on my flight, see what options it has available. Plus need something to keep my mind off the flight anyway.
After meetings, I'll try to check the boards if there's any questions.
Aerin Starsong
Rogue's traditional weakness are low hp/AC. feat starved.
in order to cover low hp => toughness feat
low AC => dodge, 2 weapon shield, offence-defence, expertise feat
look for rogues abilities /power that help you debuff ennemy in order to make him unable to full attack you: (that give a condition, like nausated, sikend etc...) or that allow you to make more movement (like side step and following, or spring attack chain)
Hope this helps
Miles of Magnimar
It does, yes, thanks. I'll have to pull up my Hero Lab and experiment a build out, looking at the options I get that compliment that. I was already debating the Spring Attack Chain just because with a 10 Str, mobility and sneak attack is about all I got going for me combat wise. I figured as someone who always had to be ready for run-ins with Magnimar gangers, Miles would at least need to be able to defend himself. The real benefit is in messing around with traps and locked doors.
Rauno Kaln
Here is the crunch and fluff for my sorcerer character. I ultimately ended up going with the Arcane Bloodline. For those characters that are local to Sandpoint, we should find a way to tie in our backgrounds. Though he has spent years away from Sandpoint, Rauno was born and raised there and has spent the last one or two years back in Sandpoint helping out at the Rusty Dragon Inn. A Varisian through and through, he dresses like many of his people.
Aerin Starsong
Considering that Aerin lived in Standpoint until the age of 5 (before being send off to Kaer Maga), they could have been indeed childhood friends (as well as the other characters that lived trough his/her childhood there).
Aerin has returned only the previous day to standpoint since (in order to talk with her father).
