DM Aku, Here is my submission of Father Sidious, a reach cleric of Asmodeus. I hope you like him. He has the fiendish vessel archetype which allows him to channel evil. This lets him channel to heal evil characters while harming and maybe sickening good characters at the same time, But the channel does a d4 instead of a d6.

I was unsure about the number of traits. As it stands I took one campaign trait and one other trait. I am also unsure if this character has received the boons from the Cardinal the others have received.

Please let me know what you think.

Human Hero Killer1 / Holy Assassin1 / Deceiver2

Hey, I liked the name!

Just don't say: 'Search your feelings, you know it to be true.'

Anyway, your background was short but cool, I still need to look at some details at your crunch, but for now, I want you to change things for me.

You were captured, branded and sent to the salt mines. You fled but you don’t know the Cardinal.
Instead, you settled down near a town called Aldencross, which in turn is near of one castles of the Watch Wall.
There’s some time you are there, keeping a low profile, but in the recent months, you returned to activity. You heard about the savage north massing and gathering into a giant army. And that was what convinced you to act again!

==/==

Or something in those lines.
Just to make things clear:
You don’t know of any plot or any surviving cult.
You heard about the burning of Brandescar several months ago.
You never heard about the escapees getting caught.
You made a mistake past weeks (you don’t know it yet), and that mistake will have the watch tower patrol hunting you. (that’s your joining hook).

==//==
About traits:
Just two of them. And since you don’t gain a bonus trait as Eldred and Johan did. You don’t need to pick one from the player’s handbook if you don’t want to.
I’ll take a look at your crunch with more detail later. Anyway, welcome aboard.

Ahh, just one more thing. Johan is our pretty boy. Don’t mess with him!

Ha! Again with the pretty!

Welcome aboard Father Sidious! Woohoo! a healer!

Anyway, It’s nothing really.

I was just having fun, because if I was an alchemist, I would really go deep into mutations discovery. :P

OK. I am good with all these background changes, and will make them soon. Note that I was not quite ready to finalize my crunch anyway. I will likely change the campaign trait, although its already part of my story. Easier to just leave it. :) And my purchases are not final yet. I was not sure where I would start and if I would have the amulet that works like a hat of disguise. I am glad I idid not to Tiefling, counting on that item to mask my appearance. :)

And Johan, yes a healer. If you would not mind filling out this non-disclosure, in triplicate, we can begin drawing up the contract to provide you future healing. :P This will be the first time I have played a cleric of Asmodeus so any advise is welcome.

I guess, at least starting out, Father Sidious has not signed the same contract you all did with the Cardinal, so has no "legal" incentive to help the party, yet.

I love your flexibility - a bad touch channeller that has healing capability. Well done!

Thanks! I tried to assess what would be most helpful to the group. Its tricky to be abel to channel healing as an evil cleric. This works well for the setting. My fallback was life oracle, but I could not make that feel right. I would have had to have make him psychotic with duel personalities or something. lol.

I hope the Imp adds to the role playing while helping us scout. Of course if the good father is caught with an Imp, well that will be bad. :) I see the Imp as an infernal advisor to the low level cleric and being able to help with divination magic will further foster that. But he is also there to keep an eye on him and to report back to higher ups on any misdeed, etc. From a RP point of view, I could even see it reporting to the Cardinal, once that relationship is established.

Lets have a late set out... I want to plant those items in the dwarfs room after they head for work.

Just need an invis spell and then a few mins about town to make it happen... including a new rumour that the Rookery was the dwarves in order to get more work for themselves.

Things should be all sorts of messed up when we get back... especially if we can re-charm the innkeep to drive the basics for us.

The only thing we may not have time for is using the charmed innkeeper to invite his brother the captain over for dinner - we'll have to see if we can squeeze that in somehow.

Every heavily armored knight we can catch separated from their equipment is one less chance for our crit-rolling machine of a GM to cut Johan in half. ;>

Our villains are attacking a patrol group, that has you captive.

You should create for me, how you were caught. (And you did not killed any of then)

No, no spiders!

I just don't want to lose that web :D

Working on it. :) I have a scout canoe trip starting today and I will not be back until late Sunday so it might be early next week. One question: Was the Imp also captured. I propose no. He can turn invisible at will, stays in Raven form most of the time, and can fly in both forms. So he is either free and hanging around, looking for a chance to help, or is captured in Raven form in a cage near by. What do you think works best?

Human Hero Killer1 / Holy Assassin1 / Deceiver2

It's fits best if he is free.

Hard to capture a imp if he does not want to be captured at low levels.

Agrippa, I think your pit is way to small. Isn't it 10x10'? That's enough to sink the whole tent practically.

Edit: Oh wait, I see what you've done. The icon on the map represents the centre casting point, not the pit itself?

Journal Formulae/Consumables Hp 45 AC 17, T 13, FF 14, F+3, Ref +8, Will +6. Speed 30ft, Perc +11, Init +3

Correct. The idea is to keep the soldiers inside the tent until we are ready for them.

How Father Sidious came to be captured, again.:

Of all the poor luck. His robe had pulled back when he reached for the pitcher at the inn. Sitting lashed to the chair he could recall the moment of his carelessness. Someone in the common room must have seen his brand. Yes, they were lax here in Aldencross. But even these simpletons were not going to ignore such a brand. No one questioned the large man in the common room. They had come for him at first light.

Sidious, holy symbol of Asmodeus in hand, was already up and in communion with his lord when they burst in. It was lucky for him that they thought him only preying to the forbidden god, which was crime enough. Had they realized he was actually clergy to the Father of Lies he might have already been burned at the stake. And while caught with the symbol of Asmodeus, he also possessed the symbol of Mitra. Quick lies and lack or resistance had at least put doubt into the guards. They certainly would not release him, but they would not kill him outright before checking with the salt mine to see if some of their prisoners had indeed been released early for saving lives in a cave in. It was just plausible enough to need to be checked out. And with his Imp familiar close by just a little time was all he needed, he hoped.

He plotted on how to best get the imp's attention and when to try to make his escape, but his guards had not left him alone for a minute yet. Suddenly he heard a commotion outside…

Male Devilbound Human |Inquisitor 9| HP 90 | AC 30(T14/FF25) |CMB +14; CMD 27 | Saves Fort +11, Ref +7 Will +11 | Initiative +9, Perception +15, Sense motive +18, Intimidate+24 LOOT

awesome!

Now just watch him fall in the pit. I should have had him tied to a soft mattress. :)

Okay, I see a few of options... 1)continue as planned with the bombs and spells or 2)Eldred and I disguise as the two rangers and wait for shift change, maybe waylay the next two as well. our buffs will have worn off by then though, and there may not be a shift change. 3)Eldred tries to slip into the tents and free the prisoner. We risk completely blowing the element of surprise, and it seems a little unrealistic as we don't even know if the prisoner is more than a rumour at this point.

Johan of course favours the most direct route - blow em up now.

What's everyone else think?

Journal Formulae/Consumables Hp 45 AC 17, T 13, FF 14, F+3, Ref +8, Will +6. Speed 30ft, Perc +11, Init +3

Agrippa will support whatever Johan and Eldred do with his mastery of the Arcane!

Human Hero Killer1 / Holy Assassin1 / Deceiver2

Since I’ve experienced some issues because of out of turn posting, I’ll ask you guys to, when posting your action, put a round mark before it.
Round 2 – GM – Init 999
Because it keeps easier for you keep track of your own actions.

Also, I’ll ask you to post only one action per round:

Let me give some examples:
Johan wants to free the prisoner:
Round 2 – Johan – Init 23
To do that, as so to speak he needs: Get the dagger(move), cut the bonds(stantard).
Round 3 – Johan – Init 23
For his next turn, he’ll walk to the tent entrance(move), and stay prepared to attack anyone that leaves(standard).

Here is an example of out of round posting:
Round 1 – Agrippa – Init 22
Creates a pit in the tent entrance.
Round 2 – Agrippa – Init 22
Invoke a lemure.
Round 3 – Agrippa – Init 22
Conjure an acid bolt, and command the lemure to Attack.

He has already posted 3 round actions… but the combat is still on round 2.

Anyway, I’ll sort things out and see how things are going.

Your hands are free, your feets are still bound, and you are gagged.

Your stuff is there too, I just din't put it on the list.

You took no actions because there was no need to take actions.

You are half hp, as per say.

And you are free to ungag yourself and talk to your rescuers.

Awesome! Johan, I see you have a silver holy symbol of Asmodeus. Might I assume you wear it, since you may need it for some spells, and that a perceptive person looking for it might see it? Or would you have it put away?

Also as Father Sidious is cut free are there sleeping enemy in the room with them?

Oops forgot to cut loose your feet. Johan does wear his holy symbol, but the iron circlet would be disguising its appearance currently. As for sleeping guards - nope we killed them all. We tend to do that.

Okay, first things first!

For our new member, officially: Welcome.
Don’t be a good person, we don’t like them here. :)

Also, for Agrippa and (hopefully) Fet and Sidious, read the lines bellow.
I’ll link another campaign discussion, because I have things sorted out there, but the content is the same as this one.

In campaign info, there’s lot’s of information about Talingard and some house rules, please read then.
Villain Points Okay, this one is tricky, at the present moment, only Eldred and Johan have Villain points (1 each), this is an extremely limited resource, you gain 1 (one) at end of each history arch, and you can earn 1 (one) more for interpretation bonus. Here is an example of how Johan earned one: Link

Yes. I am remiss... Welcome Father Sidious. Glad to have you. I'm glad to have you along and I love your character - its a great approach to chanelling.

OK. I have read everything. A few questions:

1) Villain points are indeed rare. Noted.

2) When you are rolling things like Sense Motive and Perception for us do we need to ask for the roll. or is saying I look around the room. sufficient? If we are lied to do you automatically roll Sense Motive for all of us or must one of us ask How do I feel about that?

3) How much of this history does Father Sidious know? He can, and will use it to his benefit, if he knows all of it.

Agreed. However, they are intended to add flavor to the game, or be a life savior.

For perception, you need only to say you are going to look around.

Sense motive I always roll it automatically and add the result to the scene. There’s no need to ask for it. But you can always ask for one, if you think the situation requires it.

About Talingard history? All of it on the Campaign page is ‘free’ knowledge. No need for tests to know that stuff. However, it may be that not all of it is ‘true’.

Interesting. The good father will contest that it is all true, of course. :)

Father Sidious wrote:
Imp can cast Commune. Also, I had the thought that a safe place to hide a holy symbol is to hang it around the imp's neck and then have him shape shift. The symbol is melded and unavailable. But if Sidous' symbol is ever taken he can claim his spare from the imp. Like it? I don't mean to abuse this, but there may be other small items we can protect that way. Keys. Wands. a potion, etc.

You can be creative about it, I don't mind.

Anyway, a question:

I was waiting you say your crunch was complete, as I recall, you said it still need some final changes, are you done with then?

Oh, yea. He still has almost 200 gold he could have spent. Other than that he is done. If you do not mind he will shop a little more for mundane items he should have had while on the run. Nothing major, and mostly for color and completeness. But the crunch is certainly final.

I always found it a little cheesy when in the old days a paladin would "dismiss" his warhorse full of and even overburdened with gear he might need and then re-summon him when he did need it. It was like a portable hole/horse. lol
