I've got a work trip for the first three weeks of December, and my partner's 50th birthday happening the day after I get back and I have done no planning whatsoever for any of it. And her family is invading us uninvited. So my emotions contain both terror and dread.
But Thanksgiving should be nice - we have our local grocery store do most of our cooking, and we spend the day on the beach with friends and then come home and heat stuff up for dinner, so it's usually very mellow.

I'm feeling rather ragged running several campaigns at once--especially during the holiday season and with school to go to. I'm thinking of putting this campaign on hiatus for the holidays, and I'll think about whether I want to continue running this campaign or handing it off to another GM to run.
Does anyone object to me putting us on hiatus for now?

Very sorry it's taken me so long to give you guys a proper update. I've started the winter semester of my school program, and it's been quite demanding.
I'll be honest, I was considering retiring this game and letting you guys find another GM with a more consistent update schedule than I. But if you really want me to keep going, I'll try to get in a substantial update for you tomorrow afternoon.

Dragoncat, if that's how you feel, we can start looking for a GM to continue on with so you can take it easier. I'd say neyond a doubt this is the best AP PbP I've ever played in, thanks in no small part to your skills, and if you feel the time has come to pass the torch, then I think I speak for all of us when I say we'll be happy to help you find one. <3

I’m still around, though I’m on an extended work trip and don’t have much time to post. I’d be interested in continuing this game for sure, but I have had mixed experiences with recruiting new GM’s and I’m not sure I’d want to do that.

Don't forget to stay hydrated and get a good night's sleep! I know when I'm lacking both of those I don't have the energy to post.

So, confession time.
I kinda skipped over a lot of this dungeon because of how many haunts it had in it. I'll be honest, I've never really been a fan of them--while I admit that they sound great and creepy on paper, playing with them in my Carrion Crown game has soured me on them.
That, and most of the haunts rely on me having kept track of what sins the PCs have indulged in up to this point--and frankly, I'm not interested in doing that. I've got enough bookkeeping to deal with running the game and botting Evelyn.
Also, I'm REALLY not a fan of dungeon crawls. I very much prefer social roleplaying and intrigue, and dungeon crawls generally don't endorse such encounters without the GM modifying their campaign to include them.

Nicat Brightluck |

I wholeheartedly approve of your decision on the haunts, DM Cat! I was never a big fan before, but then I played through way too many of them in Carrion Crown and I'm done with them. I think the way you've hit fast-forward on this part of the AP has worked very well.
As to the dungeon crawl aspect, if we were all at a table, you could just point at all the places on the map that didn't really result in anything, give some quick descriptions, and achieve a similar fast-forward in a few minutes - PbP just takes a different approach, and I'm glad you took it.
In short - ain't no need to confess when you did us all a favor!

I thought this haunted house seemed a little empty...and being in a different Carrion Crown campaign with you, one where those haunts have nearly killed my character once or twice, I know what you mean about haunts. In short, I agree with Nicat. 'Tis cool! :)
Sorry it took so long to post. I meant to log on after work but yesterday got yanked on a shopping trip by my mom, and then today had to wait around the MoA for most of the afternoon for her to get off work since my dad was driving my brother to a pair of bagpiping gigs out in the middle of nowhere!
Missed my monthly RL D&D game too. :(

Well, it turns out it was not one week of no fix, but two. The tech help I had had family emergencies pop up and I sure couldn't tell them to forget about that.
As it stands, right now, my lap top is a paperweight... whether it will actually be salvaged or not is unsure, so I'm getting a new one. I think it arrives this Thursday.
I have limited access to another computer, and will try to catch up at least a little but may still be relatively quiet until friday.
Very sorry :(

Hey Conner! While we're waiting for Dragoncat to finish their exams, may I move my fireball through your space? I don't want to hurt your character without your consent.

Eostre Roldheim |

Just so you all know, my posting may slow a little going into May: I'm struggling to keep up with my posting between work and getting ready for my best friend's wedding (I'm a groomsman!).

GM_Runecat |

Hey everyone.
I'm going to be honest with you here--I'm not having fun with this campaign anymore. Updating this has become sporadic and not very substantial--and that's not fair, I feel, to you guys. I've tried to make it fun for myself, but I feel like I'm forcing myself to post when I'm not feeling it just for the sake of moving things along.
You guys have been awesome in putting up with me and my slow posting rate, and for that I thank you profusely. But I think I'm going to pass the torch along to someone else.

Eostre Roldheim |

What Ekan said...you didn't have to pick up that banner when I asked around for a GM to run RotRL all those years ago, but you did, and you've made it amazing for us. And to top it all off you've planned for the possibility of someone taking over from you, meaning you're not just talented but responsible too!
Thank you for everything, Dragoncat! <3

I completely understand, Dragoncat. I had wondered about whether this might be coming, and I sort of share the sentiment. It's tough to keep up the pace after more than five years of play (though that is something to be proud of!), and I think exploring the many rooms of Foxglove Manor just slowed our pace even further.
It's been a pleasure to play with you all, and I think I'll take this opportunity to bow out as well. Nicat has now had at least two Runelords games end at about this stage, and I'm going to take it as a sign. I also just last night started a real-life run of War for the Crown with some friends, so I'll scratch my AP itch that way.
See everyone around the boards, or at a con somewhere!
