I quickly finish what I am eating, and pack the spade, hammer, chisel and file into my backpack. I accept the dagger Kosan handed to me, and put it in my belt sheath. I say nothing, and have an odd look on my face. Picking up backpack #2, and feeling its weight. If I need speed, and mobility this is the first damn thing I am going to drop.

In the Mindlink. We should get moving. I take up my position as rearguard of the party.

Female Raven

Kalona relays all the information she gets back to the party via the mind link. e.g. feel free to read the Vals spoiler about what she sees .

When she gets to the city, she adds, as if she is simply talking with herself;
Oh my, that is certainly not something I had expected. Its huge, I may have seen something this size flying over here, but underground it appears quite large. Look at all those lights and people, well, I dont know if they are alive or not. Must be millions. If we have to go there it will be quite the adventure. I wonder how they will take to us. Hmm...I dont know if anyone but me can get down there from here. Makes me want to stretch my wings though, these tiny corridors are just not all that relaxing. Hmm, that must be the army, I wonder if they would take offense if I flew over...

She will also flash mental images of what she sees.

In the Mindlink. They Thoron, does your portable hole have room for this pack full of iron rods?

Kemnebi scratches at the kitten as it sits on top of Nebibit's shoulder.

"I'd listen to her if I were you little one. She's smarter than all of us put together." He whispers conspiratorially to the kitten.

Hathor, his familiar, slowly turns her head to look at him with a stern gaze. And then she very slowly and deliberately smacks him on the ear.

"Except for Hathor, of course." He finishes without missing a beat.

When Kosan asks him and Nebibit to carry the supplies pack, Kemnebi quickly agrees. He then takes hastily takes a goodly amount of the supplies from the pack, and shoves them into his own magical haversack. He hands the now half-full pack to Nebibit.

"Here you go. Less weight for both of us this way!" He says with a grin.

The magus offers the protection of his pocket to the kitten once more, but if it seems content to ride on Nebibit's shoulder, he leaves it there for now. He looks down the hall that Kalona took with consternation as the mental images of what awaits them arrives.

In the Mindlink. Well... The stronger undead command the weaker. For a force that size there will be alot of the intelligent ones. Since they are moving in regiments and not meandering. We may gain assistance from spirits, but not the undead. Unless some Liche or Vampire wants to trade favors. But I would be loathe to do so.

Another concern is how are we going to sneak past them? Grymbol can only hide of couple of us with his Goddess's blessing. They can smell the life in us like a predator smells blood. We must also have to try and find a way to ditch our pursuers. That door won't hold forever. As the sound of BOOM, BOOM, BOOM, echoes down to us from the guardroom. I continue in the mindlink. What we do know for sure is the undead have no love for the living. Seeing how close to the under world they are, and viewing that door. They have no desire for the punishment they lies beyond.

Val

Spoiler:
I think back to my past, when a Countess of a family of drow necromancers tried courting me. Our conversations about the dead and undeath. Before the invasion of the Ghuls, and her families banishment from the city.

Continued in the Mindlink. One thing is for certain. The living come and go; the dead stay and accumulate. I pause for a minute.

If I was holding a Goddess prisnor that city would be it. Now we know why it was said that the Greek Army would just be a distraction.

Kemnebi's eyes narrow as his feline face furrows in concentration.

"Yes,..." He murmurs out loud, drawing out the word. Then realizes he spoke aloud, and he continues in the mindlink,

'And a distraction is exactly what we need! IF we continue to blunder around down here, we will eventually run into that force. Or wear ourselves out so we will be no good when we Do find the goddess. If we can't sneak by them, then we need to attract their attention to where we want them to be. And THEN we can get by!'

He grins like the proverbial cat that swallowed the canary. Then looks at the others, and his eyes widen.

'Um,... You all knew that, of course. I have GOT to keep my mouth shut!'

He looks down at his feet, waiting for the group to move. His familiar bats him on the ear again, gently.

ok; map sent out to he email addresses I have; this is a down view from the missing wall looking down at about 70 degrees; this is only a fragment of the city that you can see through the missing part of the hall wall view is otherwise blocked by canyone walls and earth that the tunnel was carved into.

Spoiler:

wow this is a true Necropolis; am guessing about 6 million souls and countless animated stuff; there also seem to be a fair number of living mortals; lots of races; seems like some type of festivity going on. I see groups of Drow; Ogre; Orc, Goblin; a few trolls here and there as well as various groups of undead wearing different colors. Lots of shops and stores tended by shriveled mortals of various kinds; think there undead but just normal guys still living; not powerful liches or vampires.

there are a fair number of flying creatures about; mostly bats but some are vampires and a few flying spectres and skeletal things.

Luckily; it looks like the Vampire barrows and citadels are on the opposite side of the city; the area you guys will come in either by probably hall or climbing down will be either a ghoul area or just a vanilla undead of what I believe are called Necropolitians; I doubt they are very evil or I would have heard of them. Probably fairly safe to climb/fly down or take the path.

They all seem to be betting or interesting waving flags or wearing colors associated with various groups in the city; very factionated; I like it; looks like no central ruler; place sure hops for all the death and whatnot; probably has a wild nightlife.

Sure, I will fly along with Falco. I dont know that I have particular special abilities for this sort of thing, as I havent really dealt with cities much above or below the ground. However, if there are 'city paths' aka streets and obviously unusual structures I will relay the info along for those who are interested.

Perhaps it would be best to map out a path before anyone descends?

Llevnoc, I think care should be taken, the cliff is some 700-900 feet down and it looks like something punched a whole in the wall, rather than a natural entrance or by design. Perhaps the dwarf is more able to determine the safety of such a structure? I have seen skilled humans scale things of this nature, but I think that those who have not dedicated sometime to such skills might find the going rough. But, I make no claims to being a skilled cliff climber...never found the need.

Also, while this is of little issue to me or falco or that floating crystal thing, were this group forced to need a quick way out...after the rescue...it seems that this would be a bit slow.

Hmmm, with this much variety of creatures and no seeming organization to the community, it is likely several of us could move with little worry provided we did not do anything that would draw attention. However, I think those who have a noticeable aura linking them to a benefactor diety that would not find favor here will have difficulty. There seems to be enough creatures here that would find offense in that and likely cause some mischief because of it.

There is not much room left to fit more larger items, or the two people holding capacity.I take the extra bag from Llvenoc and reorganize the contents of the hole making sure that all of my items at the top. once done I head down the hall that has been scouted to get to the hole.

But, I make no claims to being a skilled cliff climber...never found the need....

I have 300' of rope if we can get the rest of the length we can make it down fairly easily. As to the way up, well this would not be the way to go.

I go to the hole and offer my 100' of Earth Silk rope to Thorhen. I look and the construction of the hole. Is it monster made, natural, supernatural? I then look into the hole as much as I can to see what type of rock it is and if it is brittle or hard.

Kemnebi looks wide-eyed with fear as the howling wind subsides.

"OK. I think it's time to go now!" He chatters, (with either cold or fear, or both, you cannot tell.)

"I won't pretend I'ma great warrior, but I'll take my chances going forward rather than waiting for that to happen again!"

He manages to calm down, a little, and adds in the mindlink,...

'But let us do try to avoid any direct interaction with the denizens if possible. With this 'monster magnet' on both Nebibit and myself, I'd rather not press our luck!'
